The relative displacement between the carrier 3 and the plane 22 of the corresponding fiber end face 210 is determined.
And an end face 210 and an input side corresponding to each other in a direction parallel to the bearing face 33.
And / or can be limited where the output side 11 is opposite.
In this case, it is assumed that the OEIC module 1
The input side and / or the output side 11 has a straight line 120 (
(See FIG. 3).
The distance a is equal to the distance between the straight line 220 of the end face 210 and the bearing surface 33 of the support 3.
It is.
The stopper device comprises, for example, a groove 31 and a projection 131, and the projection 13
1 is formed on the mounting surface 13 of the module 1 and fits into the groove 31 with play.
I agree. Such a stopper 131 corresponds to the groove 31.
Are relatively designed and arranged as follows. That is, the end of the fiber 21
Relative displacement between the module 1 and the support 3 parallel to the plane 22 of the plane 210
When this occurs, the stopper 131 comes into contact with the lateral limit surface 311 of the groove 31 described above.
In this case, the input side and / or the output side 11 of the module 1 are associated with each other.
Such a relative position is precisely located at the end face 210 of the fiber 21, respectively.
Designed and arranged to stop exercise.
FIGS. 2 and 3 are top plan views of one example of an OEIC module.
A figure showing the end surface 12 is shown. In the case of this embodiment, the mounting surface 13 is
It is the back side of Joule 1.
In the case of this module 1, for example, four generally known
The switchable optical directional coupler 10 is formed, and in the case of FIG.

ing.
Each directional coupler 10 has two optical strips integrated on the module 1.
And the waveguides 110 and 111. These strip waveguides 110 and 111 are
, Ends on both opposing end surfaces 12 of the module 1,
Strip waveguide 110
And 111 so that the wave of light guided to one of them can be coupled to the other waveguide.
The waveguides extend parallel to one another at a reduced distance in the middle part. in this case,
The above coupling is located next to the waveguides 110, 111 in its middle part
This can be performed according to the control voltage applied to the control electrode 112.
The strip waveguides 110 and 110 located on one of the two end faces 12 of the module 1
And 111, the input side and / or the output side 11 of the module 1
Is defined. These end faces 11 correspond to the bearing faces 13 and the corresponding end faces 12.
And on a parallel line 120. Vertical direction between this line 120 and the mounting surface 13
Is set such that the strip waveguides 110 and 111 are directly above the mounting surface 13.
Provided, it is extremely small, in the range of μm or sub-μm. Basic
Specifically, the interval a can be set to zero.
Important for accurate adjustment between the input / output side 11 and the end face 210 of the fiber 21
What is important is that a line 220 (see FIG. 6) is placed on the end face 210 of the fiber 21 on this line.
(There is a central fiber axis) and the distance b between the bearing surface 33 of the support 3 is equal to the distance a.
That is. This is because the module 1 is placed flat on the support 3 as described above.
The two lines 120 and 220 are at the same height with respect to the bearing surface 33.
This is because
Module 1 is mounted on support 3 as described above.
And the protrusion 131 abuts against the side limiting surface 311 of the associated groove 31.
As a result, the input side and / or the output side 11 and the end face 2 associated with each other
10 automatically adjusted, fixing the module 1 in its position on the support 3
Can be.
In order to make a contact connection of the module 1 fixed on the support 3,
An opening 37 is provided. This through opening is in the area of module 1
For example, in the region of the concave portion 36, it extends to the back surface 34 of the support 3 opposite to the module 1.
Then, the contact connection of the module 1 is performed from the back surface 34 through the through opening.
This can be done, for example, by wire bonding.
In the case of the longitudinal section shown in FIG. 5, for example, the electrode 1 of the directional coupler 10
Reference numeral 12 is electrically connected to the wiring board 7 via bonding wires 70.
For example, a support 3 is arranged on the wiring board.
The protrusion 131 on the mounting surface 13 of the module 1 is, as shown in FIG.
The fiber 21 can be arranged in the groove 31 in which the fiber 21 is held. However,
Between the end face 210 of the bus 21 and the input side and / or the output side 11
In this case, it is preferable that the fiber 21 be used in order to cause the propagation of light without obstacle.
In a separate groove 61 which is not arranged and not retained, the projection 13 as described above
1 is placed.
Such a groove 61 can be arranged, for example, between each adjacent groove 31, and
It can be configured to have a smaller cross-sectional dimension than these grooves 31. Heavy
What is important is that the protrusion 131 is fitted with the groove 61 with play,
The groove 61 so that the groove 61 can be moved so as to come into contact with the side restricting surface 611.
Is Rukoto.
Suitable for fixing the fibers 21 in the grooves 31 of the support 3 are the bearing surfaces 3
3 is to form a trench 50 that cuts across the groove 31.
The cable 50 takes in the adhesive 60 (see FIG. 6) for fixing the fiber 21 to the groove 31.

In this case, the groove 31 has a shallower depth t.1have. Such a trench
50 enables automatic uptake and uniform distribution of adhesive 60 by capillary action
It works. The adhesive 60 can be, for example, an epoxy adhesive. Trench
50 itself can be formed by sawing.
Further, another trench extending across the trench 50 between the adjacent trenches 31.
It is also suitable to provide a wrench 51 on the bearing surface 33. This another trench 51 has
The other trenches 51 communicate with each other, and the other trenches 51 correspond to the aforementioned trenches 50.

The adhesive 60 to the groove 31 on the other side of this other trench.
It is prevented from flowing too much. The fibers in those grooves on the other side
21 should be installed, for example on this side of another trench 51
The fibers 21 to be attached are such that they cannot be attached at the same time.
Another trench 51 has a plurality of parallel grooves 31 for mounting the fiber 21
Such sections can also be used to separate the support sections from each other.
The section is formed in the area of another trench 51 to form the support 3 according to FIG.
Separated from the support.
In addition, the fiber 21 is arranged and attached in the groove 41 of the auxiliary support 4 so as to be attached.
Are also more suitable. The grooves 41 are next to the flat surface 43 of the auxiliary support 4.
It is formed and designed as follows. That is, as shown in FIG.
The fibers 21 arranged in the grooves 41 are formed on the peripheral surface 212 by the sides of the grooves 41.
Arranged to contact the limiting surface 411 and protrude from the flat surface 43 of the auxiliary support 4

The groove 41 of the auxiliary support 4 is referred to as a groove 31 arranged in one plane of the support 3,
Can be superimposed. That is, each fiber 21 is attached to the support 3.
In the groove 31 associated with the groove 31 at its peripheral surface 212,
This can be performed so as to contact the side restriction surface 311 of the groove 31. In this case, the auxiliary support
4 can be formed identically to the support 3, and the larger
May be a section of the support separated from the support. phase
Accordingly, the auxiliary support 4 is configured to have a trench 50 for taking in the adhesive.
You can also.
By assembling the fibers 21 separately on the auxiliary support 4 in advance,
The production is increased, and the fiber 21 can be fixed on both sides.
All grooves 31, 41, 61, as well as another trench 51,
