Oxygen bleaching agents include powder type and liquid type, each having its own characteristics. Liquid oxygen bleach has been recognized for its ease of use and has been widely used, and has become the mainstream bleach for clothing. Although the main bleaching base material of this oxygen bleach is hydrogen peroxide, its bleaching power is inferior to that of chlorine bleach, and its improvement is a problem. Many studies have been made on improving the bleaching power of oxygen-based bleaches. One approach is to use an organic peracid precursor. The organic peracid precursor reacts with hydrogen peroxide in the cleaning solution to produce an organic peracid having higher bleaching power. This is the mechanism by which the stains are strongly decomposed by the organic peracid generated here.

In liquid bleach, hydrogen peroxide is mainly used. The organic peracid precursor includes, for example, tetraacetylethylenediamine (TAED), glucose pentaacetate (PA
G) and phenol derivative alkyl esters. Another issue is stabilization of hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide normally decomposes under alkaline conditions to generate oxygen gas. Therefore, the liquid oxygen bleach currently on the market is adjusted to be acidic. However, the bleaching effect of hydrogen peroxide is higher under alkaline conditions than under acidic conditions, so that it is generally used in combination with a detergent. That is, another problem is to exert a high bleaching effect even when used alone. As a means for achieving this, research has been conducted to make hydrogen peroxide exist stably at a higher pH. As an example, see JP-A-2-
Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 227498, Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 26227499 and Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 3-200899 disclose techniques for stabilizing hydrogen peroxide in a neutral to alkaline region. However, although the stability of hydrogen peroxide is improved by these techniques, it is insufficient in securing quality of household products, and a more effective stabilization technique is required.
