Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent air leakage and to omit a fitting process for a resonator by providing an axial partition wall in the interior of an air pipe, and providing an expansion cavity chamber connected to the terminal end side of the partition wall, whereby a resonator taking the expansion cavity chamber as a resonating chamber is formed integrally with the air pipe. CONSTITUTION: A partition wall 3 is provided in a tubular air pipe 1, and an expansion cavity chamber 4 is formed on the terminal end side. When the opening end 2 of the air pipe 1 is fitted to the discharge pipe 18 of an air cleaner 17, for example, a resonator taking the expansion cavity chamber 4 as a resonating chamber is formed so as to eliminate the need of a separate resonator fitting work. Furthermore, there is no air leakage of a connecting pipe between the air pipe and the resonating chamber.

In the conventional air pipe 10, for example, one end on the upstream side is connected to the discharge side of the air cleaner and the other end is connected to the intake manifold side of the engine. In such a structure, the work of mounting the air pipe and the work of mounting the resonator on the air pipe are separate operations, and the number of assembling work steps increases and the manufacturing cost increases. In addition, there are many places where the members are fitted and tightened, which may cause air leakage.

EXAMPLES Examples are shown in FIGS. 1 (a) and 1 (b). A partition wall 3 is provided to partition the cross-sectional area of the air pipe 1 from the vicinity of one opening side 2 of the air pipe 1 which is a part of the intake system of the internal combustion engine. The expanded cavity chamber 4 is formed. The air tube 1, the partition wall 2, and the wall surface forming the expansion cavity 4 are all made of synthetic resin, and all may be integrally molded. Also, depending on the convenience of the molding die, they may be composed of two members. You may make it join. The molding method may be an appropriate method such as injection molding or blow molding.

The expanded cavity chamber 4 serves as a resonance chamber, and the portion 5 on one side of the partition wall communicating with this chamber serves as a communication passage opening to the air flow. This air pipe 1 has a discharge port 18 of an air cleaner 17.
It is fitted to the flange portion 19 formed in the above, and is fixed by tightening with the band 20. The other end 6 of the air pipe 1 is connected and fixed to an intake manifold (not shown) on the engine body side by appropriate means.

According to the present invention, since the resonator portion is integrated with the air pipe, it is not necessary to separately install the resonator, and the production efficiency is high and the cost is reduced.
In addition, since it is integrated, there is no risk of leakage unlike the conventional connecting pipe mounting portion. Further, since the communication pipe portion is a part of the air pipe and the resonance chamber is connected to the air pipe, it is convenient for mounting in an engine room of an automobile without occupying a wasteful space. . Further, the invention is not limited to the intake air pipe of the internal combustion engine and can be widely applied to the air duct.
