(57)【要約】 （修正有） 【目的】 トランザクションを取り次ぐために通信を行
なっているエンティティをアクティブに接続させるよう
に通信システムを用いる。 【構成】 エンティティＥ（１）１０５（１）は、トラ
ンザクションのタイプを規定する通話２０５ＴＩＤによ
ってトランザクションを開始する。交換機ＳＷ１０７は
これを受信するとトランザクションマネージャＴＭＡＮ
３０５を起動し、エンティティＥ（１）に対してトラン
ザクション情報２０７ＴＩ（１）を要求する。この情報
は交換機、トランザクションマネージャを介してエンテ
ィティＥ（３）１０５（３）に供給され、トランザクシ
ョンデータベースＴＤＢ２０９を検索してトランザクシ
ョン情報２１１ＴＩ（２）をトランザクションマネージ
ャに戻し、交換機にエンティティＥ（２）１０５（２）
との間のメッセージ経路を設定させ、この情報を供給す

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本発明は通信システムに関し、特
に通信システムによって到達可能なエンティティ間のト
ランザクションを取り次ぐために通信システムを用いる
方法に関する。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】電話システム等の通信システムは、第一
のエンティティと第一のエンティティによって規定され
た第二のエンティティを単に接続する以上のことを行な
ってきている。種々の電話サービスは、エンティティを
規定する第一の電話番号を第二のこの種の電話番号に変
換する。図１は、このような電話番号変換サービスの概
略を示す図である。この図において、破線は信号情報を
伝達する経路を示し、実線はメッセージを伝達する経路
を示している。図１において、エンティティ１（Ｅ
（１））１０５（１）は、通信システム（ＣＳ）１０３
を介してエンティティ２（Ｅ（２））１０５（２）と通
信することを希望している。通信を開始するために、エ
ンティティ１ １０５（１）は、通信システム１０３内
において当該エンティティとの通信を設定するために用
いられる実際のデスティネーション識別子とは異なる仮
想デスティネーション識別子１１１を用いる。信号経路
を用いてエンティティ１ １０５（１）は仮想デスティ
ネーション識別子１１１を通信システム１０３に提供す
る。通信システム１０３における交換機１０７は、仮想
識別子１１１をその形態から認識することが可能であ
る。エンティティ１０５（１）によって提供されたです
ティネーション識別子が仮想デスティネーション識別子
であることを認識すると、交換機１０７は仮想デスティ
ネーション識別子１１１を信号経路を介してトランスレ
ータ１１５に提供する。このトランスレータ１１５は通
信システム１０３のファシリティの一つであり、仮想デ
スティネーション識別子１１１を実際のデスティネーシ
ョン識別子１１３に翻訳する。翻訳を行なう際には、ト
ランスレータ１１５は、仮想デスティネーション識別子
１１１に対応する実際のデスティネーション識別子１１
３を保持しているデスティネーション識別子データベー
ス１１７を用いる。翻訳が終わると、トランスレータ１
１５は実際のデスティネーション識別子１１３を交換機
１０７に提供し、交換機１０７は、実線の矢印１０９に
よって示されたメッセージ経路を介してエンティティ１
１０５（１）をエンティティ２ １０５（２）に接続
するために実際のデスティネーション識別子１１３を用
いる。
【０００３】この種のサービスの一例は、米国における
料金不要通話８００サービスである。この、ウェーバー
（Ｗｅｂｅｒ）らによる１９８０年３月４日付けの米国
特許第４、１９１、８６０号（通信通話処理方法）にお
いて詳細に記述されているサービスにおいては、ある与
えられた地域内の利用者は、あるエンティティに電話を
かけるために８００をプリフィックスとして有する電話
番号を用いる。８００という番号を受信すると、電話会
社の交換システムはこの８００番号を含む制御メッセー
ジを生成する。この制御メッセージは、電話会社によっ
て信号経路として用いられている共通チャネル局間信号
ファシリティ（ＣＣＩＳ）を介してデータベースシステ
ム宛送出される。データベースシステムはこの８００番
号を前記エンティティに対するリストされていない電話
番号を得るために用い、このリストされていない番号を
第二のＣＣＩＳメッセージを介して交換システムに対し
て供給する。交換システムはこのリストされていない番
号を用いて前記利用者をこの８００番号が属しているエ
ンティティに対して接続し、通話料金をこのリストされ
ていない番号に対して課金する。
【０００４】ウェーバーらによって示されているよう
に、８００番号通話はそれが発振された地域に基づいて
接続される。従って、８００番号サービスはロケータサ
ービスとして用いられ得る。この種のサービスにおいて
は、利用者は特定のものあるいはサービスを提供する提
供源を指し示している８００番号をダイアルし、通信シ
ステムによって利用者に最も近い前記特定のものあるい
はサービスの提供源あるいは前記特定のものあるいはサ
ービスの受取人に対して接続される。ロケータサービス
の一例は、リスキン（Ｒｉｓｋｉｎ）による１９８８年
７月１２日付の米国特許第４、７５７、２６７号（”サ
プライヤーに対して利用者を接続するための電話システ
ム”）に詳細に記述されている。リスキンによるロケー
タサービスにおいては、電話交換機に接続されたコンピ
ュータ上で動作している電話会社以外の会社によって所
有されているデータベースシステムが、８００番号から
利用者が興味を持っているものあるいはサービスのタイ
プを決定し、その電話番号から利用者がどこにいるのか
を決定する。その後、データベースシステムは、地理的
に配列されたディーラーリストからどのディーラーが利
用者に対して最も近いかを決定し、交換機に最も近いデ
ィーラーに対して電話をかけさせてそのディーラーを利
用者と接続する。
【０００５】リスキンによるロケータサービスの一実施
例においては、利用者の電話番号は電話会社の自動番号
識別システム（ＡＮＩ）によってデータベースシステム
に対して供給され、８００番号は電話会社のダイアル番
号識別システム（ＤＮＩＳ）によって供給される。他の
実施例においては、電話会社以外の会社によって所有さ
れているデータベースシステムはＣＣＩＳファシリティ
に対するアクセス手段を有しており、利用者の電話番号
及び８００番号をＣＣＩＳを介して受信し最も近いディ
ーラーの電話番号をＣＣＩＳを介して電話システムに対
して供給する。その後、電話システムは利用者を最も近
いディーラーに対して接続する。リスキンによる参照文
献によって記載されているその他の改善方法には、ＡＮ
ＩあるいはＤＮＩＳで電話会社によって提供されるもの
ではない電話番号を利用者に対して要求するためにデジ
タル音声を用いる方法及び利用者によって開始されたト
ランザクションの種類をディーラーに対して知らせるた
めにデジタル音声を用いる方法が含まれている。
【０００６】リスキンの参照文献に示されているよう
に、番号翻訳システムはかなり複雑になり得る。しかし
ながら、それら全てが共通に有している一つの特徴は、
通信システム１０３が行なうのは、各々のエンティティ
がこの通信システムを用いてメッセージを交換する手段
としての経路を設定することのみであるということであ
る。通信システム１０３はエンティティ間にメッセージ
によっていかなるトランザクションが実現されようとも
なんら役割を果たさない。
【０００７】ある場合には、通信システムはトランザク
ション自体において役割を果たす。このようなシステム
の一例は、コンスタンチン・アール・クラウス（Ｃｏｎ
ｓｔａｎｔｉｎｅ Ｒ． Ｋｒａｕｓ）による１９７５
年１１月１８日付の米国特許第３、９０２、９０８
号（”電話システムに対するバイヤークレジットサービ
ス”）に記載されているものである。この参照文献の第
二カラム第２８行から第４カラム第１１行にかけて記載
されているように、クラウスによるシステムは、電話注
文をしている利用者に関するクレジット情報をベンダに
対して提供する。利用者が注文を行なう場合には、利用
者は特別な電話番号を用いる。電話システムは、この特
別の電話番号及び利用者が電話をかけている電話の番号
をＴＳＰＳ局に提供する。次いで、ＴＰＳＰ局はこの特
定の電話番号によって識別されるベンダとクレジットセ
ンタとの間の接続を設定し、通話発信者の電話番号をク
レジットセンタに提供する。クレジットセンタは発信者
の電話番号を利用者に関するクレジット情報を得るため
クレジットデータベースを検索する際に用い、クレジッ
ト情報をベンダ宛送出する。ベンダがクレジット情報に
満足した場合は、ベンダはその旨をＴＳＰＳ局に知ら
せ、その後ＴＳＰＳ局はベンダと利用者とを接続する。
【０００８】その他のシステム例は、ジョン・ビー・メ
ダマナ（Ｊｏｈｎ Ｂ．Ｍｅｄａｍａｎａ）らによる１
９８９年５月３１日に出願された米国特許出願第３５
９、８２３号（”真性通信アクセスサービス”）に記載
されており本特許出願の代理人に対して譲渡されたもの
である。この参照文献に示されたシステムにおいては、
銀行あるいはブローカーがアクセスをある限定された利
用者に制限したい場合には、このエンティティがある８
００番号を前記利用者に対して提供する。この８００番
号はトランザクション識別子として機能する。交換機が
８００番号を受信すると、交換機はこの８００番号に対
応するエンティティに対するリストされていない番号に
対しての通話を即時に設定はしない；その代わりに、交
換機は電話システム内のトランザクションマネージャに
取り次ぐべき通話が到達したことを知らせる。トランザ
クションマネージャは交換機を用いて発信者に関する識
別情報を獲得する。この識別情報は、ＡＮＩを介して獲
得された発信者の電話番号あるいは利用者が交換機から
のデジタル音声信号に応答してプッシュホンを用いて入
力した個人識別番号（ＰＩＮ）である。その後、トラン
ザクションマネージャはこの識別情報を第三のエンティ
ティに供給し、この第三のエンティティはこの情報をト
ランザクションデータベース内で発信者がトランザクシ
ョンをなすことを許可されているか否かを決定するため
に用いる。その後、第三のエンティティはトランザクシ
ョン情報をトランザクションマネージャに供給する；発
信者がトランザクションをなすことが許可されている場
合には、このトランザクション情報はトランザクション
に関するさらなる情報を含んでいる。トランザクション
マネージャは交換機にトランザクションが許可されてい
るか否かを知らせ、トランザクションが許可されている
場合には交換機は第二のエンティティに対して通話を設
定し、トランザクションに関する前述のさらなる情報を

ステムを用いる第三の例は、エンテンマン（Ｅｎｔｅｎ
ｍａｎｎ）らによる１９８７年９月１日付の米国特許出
願０７／７０９／６２１（”宝くじへの遠距離通信シス
テムの利用”）に見いだされる。この特許出願は本特許
出願と同一の代理人を有している。この参照文献には、
宝くじの利用者が宝くじに申し込むために電話番号をダ
イアルするようなシステムが記載されている。このシス
テムは利用者の電話番号あるいはこのシステムが利用者
に要求したクレジットカードの番号からこの利用者が宝
くじに申し込む資格を有しているか否かを決定する。利
用者が資格を有している場合には、利用者は、利用者の
宝くじエントリが生成されることになる番号に関する情
報を入力するよう促される。その後、システムは前記番
号を生成し、この番号が当り番号であるか否かを決定す
る。当り番号である場合には、システムは利用者に当り
であることを知らせ、このトランザクションに関する記
録を宝くじ事務局において印刷し、利用者をオペレータ
に接続する。オペレータは利用者によって供給されるさ
らなるデータを記録する。
【００１０】図２は上述されたシステムの実現例である
システム２０１の概略を示した図である。システム２０
１においては、通信システム（ＣＳ）２０２がエンティ
ティ１ １０５（１）とエンティティ２ １０５（２）
との間のトランザクションを第三のエンティティ１０５
（３）に属しているトランザクションデータベース（Ｔ
ＤＢ）２０９に含まれている情報を用いて取り次ぐ。シ
ステム２０１のエンティティ１ １０５（１）がエンテ
ィティ２ １０５（２）とのトランザクションをなすこ
とを望む場合には、エンティティ１ １０５（１）はＣ
Ｓ２０２に対してこのトランザクションを識別するトラ
ンザクション識別子２０５を供給する。トランザクショ
ン識別子２０５にはエンティティ２ １０５（２）に対
する仮想識別子が含まれている。交換機１０７がトラン
ザクション識別子２０５を受信すると、エンティティ１
１０５（１）と交換機１０７との間のメッセージ経路
を設定し、デジタル音声等の技法を用いてエンティティ
１０５（１）からのトランザクション情報１（ＴＩ
（１））２０７の入力を要求する。この種のトランザク
ション情報は、例えばエンティティ１がトランザクショ
ンをなすということを識別する識別子である。交換機１
０７はトランザクション情報１ ２０７を、交換機１０
７に対するアクセス経路を有しているプロセッサ上で実
行されているトランザクションマネージャ２０３に供給
する。トランザクションマネージャ２０３は、さらにエ
ンティティ３ １０５（３）に対するアクセス経路も有
しており、トランザクション情報１ ２０７をエンティ
ティ３に供給する。エンティティ３はトランザクション
情報１ ２０７をトランザクションデータベース２０９
内でトランザクション情報２ ２１１を検索するために
用い、トランザクション情報２ ２１１をデータ回線メ
ッセージ経路を介してトランザクションマネージャ２０
３に供給する。トランザクション情報２ ２１１が、エ
ンティティ１ １０５（１）がトランザクションをなす
権利を有していることを示す場合には、トランザクショ
ンマネージャ２０３はトランザクションが許可されてい
ることを示すトランザクションＯＫ（Ｔ０Ｋ）信号２１
２を交換機１０７に供給し、交換機１０７は交換機１０
７とエンティティ２ １０５（２）との間のメッセージ
経路を設定する。その後トランザクションマネージャ２
０３は前記メッセージ経路を用いてトランザクション情
報１ ２０７及びトランザクション情報２ ２１１をエ
ンティティ２ １０５（２）へ供給し、エンティティ２
１０５（２）はメッセージ経路２１３及び２１５を用
いてエンティティ１ １０５（１）とのトランザクショ
ンを完了する。他方、トランザクション情報２ ２１１
が、エンティティ１１０５（１）がトランザクションを
なす権利を有していないことを示した場合には、トラン
ザクションマネージャ２０３は交換機１０７に対してＴ
ＯＫ信号２１２を用いてトランザクションが許可されて
いないことを示し、その後交換機１０７は経路２１５を
設定せず経路２１３を終了する。この場合には、トラン
ザクションマネージャ２０３はさらに交換機１０７に、
メッセージ経路２１３を介してエンティティ１ １０５
（１）に対して終了メッセージを供給させる。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】以上に示されているシ
ステムは種々の翻訳システムよりも明らかに進んだもの
ではあるが、これらのシステムは通信システムがトラン
ザクションを取り次ぐための一般的な技法を示しておら
ず、また通信システムによってトランザクションを取り
次ぐことから生ずる可能性を完全には活用しきれていな
い。特に、前掲の参照文献は、電話トランザクションを
割り込み可能にする方法あるいは通常のクレジットカー
ドトランザクションを取り次ぐために通信システムを用
いる方法を示していない。本発明の目的は、この種の一
般的な技法を示し、かつ通信システムを用いた改善され
たトランザクション実行システムの構築を可能にするこ
とである。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明は、通信システム
を、通信システムによって到達可能なエンティティを含
む種々のタイプのトランザクションを取り次ぐために用
いる方法に関する。各々のトランザクションは、トラン
ザクションに関する情報を有する複数個のエンティティ
を含んでいる。本発明は以下のステップを有している： ・通信システム中でのトランザクションのタイプの内の
一つを規定するトランザイクションタイプ規定子を受信
するステップ； ・トランザクションタイプ規定子を通信システム内のト
ランザクションマネージャに供給するステップ； ・トランザクションマネージャにおいて、トランザクシ
ョンタイプに対応するトランザクションアルゴリズムを
トランザクションアルゴリズムの組の中から選択するた
めにトランザクションタイプ識別子を用いるステップ；
及び、 ・トランザクションマネージャにおいて、トランザクシ
ョンに関与している少なくとも一つのエンティティから
トランザクションに関する情報を得るため及びトランザ
クションアルゴリズムによって要求されているようにト
ランザクションに関与している他の少なくとも一つのエ
ンティティへトランザクションに関する前記情報を供給
するために通信システムを用いるステップ。 本発明の他の目的においては、トランザクションを割り
込み可能なものにするためにトランザクション記録が提
供され、通信システムを介してクレジットカードトラン
ザクションを実現するためのシステムが提供される。

【実施例】以下、まず以下の議論を理解するために必要
となるいくつかの定義について述べ、次いでトランザク
ションを取り次いでいる間はトランザクション情報を隠
してしまう通信システムの一般的な例が記載され、その
後にその種の通信システムの具体例が記述される。次い
で、種々のタイプのトランザクションを取り次ぐように
一般的に適合された通信システムが記載され、最後に本
発明の電話システムにおける実施例が記載される。
【００１４】まず、以下の記載事項を適切に理解するた
めに重要な術語の定義を行なう。
【００１５】”通信システム”という術語は、含まれて
いるノードが単にデータを内部のロケーション宛に送出
する以上のことをするようなあらゆる種類の通信システ
ムを意味している。この種の通信システムの一例は、ワ
ールドワイドな交換システムで接続された電話を介して
ＰＢＸによって接続された電話よりなるシステムであ
る。他の例は、ネットワークノードがセッションを開始
することが可能であるようなデータネットワークや、ネ
ットワークとユーザとの間の相互作用があるようなビデ
オネットワークである。
【００１６】”エンティティ”という術語は、通信シス
テムの機能における通信システム以外のトランザクショ
ンに参加し得る全てのものを意味している。例えば、通
信システムを提供する会社がアイデンティフィケーショ
ンあるいはクレジットカードサービスをも提供する場合
は、この会社はアイデンティフィケーションあるいはク
レジットカードサービスがトランザクションに含まれる
限りはトランザクションに含まれるエンティティであ
る。
【００１７】 トランザクションを取り次ぐ間のデータ隠ぺい トランザクションに取り次ぎ者（メディエイタ）を含め
る一つの理由は、トランザクション中にトランザクショ
ンの他の参加者からトランザクションに必要なある種の
情報を隠すようなトランザクションを実行することを可
能にするためである。例えば、労働交渉においては、組
合側の交渉担当者は交渉相手である会社の経済状況を知
る必要がある；他方、会社の方ではその種の微妙なビジ
ネス情報を組合側の交渉担当者に入手可能にすることを
望まない。この問題を解決する一つの方法は、双方の参
加者から信頼されていてビジネス情報を評価し、実際の
ビジネス情報ではなくその評価結果を組合側の交渉担当
者に伝えるような取り次ぎ者（メディエイタ）を雇うこ
とである。以下において明らかとなるように、ある種の
情報を隠しながらトランザクションを可能にするという
この機能は通信システムによって実行され得る。
【００１８】図３は、通信システム３０３がメダマナに
よる参照文献に示されていた通信システム２０２のよう
にトランザクションを取り次ぐだけでなく、トランザク
ションに関与しているあるエンティティから得られた情
報をトランザクションに関与している他のエンティティ
から隠す、という機能を有するシステム３０１を示した
図である。メダマナによるシステムと同様、エンティテ
ィ１ １０５（１）は、トランザクションＩＤ２０５に
よって示されているようにトランザクションのタイプを
規定する通話によってトランザクションを開始する。交
換機１０７はＴＩＤ２０５を受信するとトランザクショ
ンマネージャ（ＴＭＡＮ）３０５を起動する。トランザ
クションマネージャ３０５は交換機１０７に対して交換
機制御信号３０７を供給する。この信号は、交換機１０
７に、エンティティ１１０５（１）に対してトランザク
ション情報１ ２０７を要求するデジタル音声プロンプ
トを供給させる。エンティティ１ １０５（１）はトラ
ンザクション情報１ ２０７を信号経路を介して交換機
１０７に供給し、交換機１０７はこのトランザクション
情報をトランザクションマネージャ３０５に供給する。
その後、トランザクションマネージャはトランザクショ
ン情報１ ２０７をエンティティ３ １０５（３）に供
給し、エンティティ３ １０５（３）はこのトランザク
ション情報をトランザクションデータベース２０９を検
索するために用いてトランザクション情報２ ２１１を
データ回線を介して戻す。次いでトランザクションマネ
ージャ３０５は交換機制御信号３０７を用いて交換機１
０７に対して信号を送出し、トランザクションマネージ
ャ３０５とエンティティ２ １０５（２）との間のメッ
セージ経路を設定させ、トランザクション情報２ ２１
１をエンティティ２１０５（２）に供給する。図３より
明らかなように、エンティティ２ １０５（２）は決し
てトランザクション情報１ ２０７を受信することはな
い；こうしてトランザクション情報１ ２０７は実効的
にエンティティ２ １０５（２）から隠されている。シ
ステム３０１のさらなる特徴は、エンティティ１ １０
５（１）とエンティティ２ １０５（２）との間の、す
なわち実際にはこのトランザクションに関与しているす
べてのエンティティ間の直接の通信が不要であるという
ことである。トランザクション情報２ ２１１が、エン
ティティ２がエンティティ２とエンティティ１との間の
トランザクションを完遂するのに必要とする全ての情報
を含む場合は、エンティティ２ １０５（２）はエンテ
ィティ１ １０５（１）とメッセージを交換する必要が
ない。
【００１９】多くの場合、トランザクションに参加して
いるエンティティはトランザクションが完遂する前にト
ランザクションを中断しその後にこのトランザクション
を完遂することを望むことがある。このことを達成する
ために、トランザクションデータベース２０９はトラン
ザクションレコードを維持していなければならない。こ
のようなレコードはトランザクションレコード（ＴＲ）
７０１として図７に示されている。各々のトランザクシ
ョンレコード７０１はトランザクション情報（ＴＩＮ
Ｆ）７０５を含んでおり、その内容はトランザクション
のタイプ及び中断されたステップに依存し、トランザク
ションに参加しているエンティティがトランザクション
を識別することを可能にするトランザクション番号７０
３を含んでいる。トランザクションが中断されかつ再開
されることを許容するこの種のシステムの一例において
は、エンティティはトランザクションを中断することを
望んでいることを表わすことが可能である。トランザク
ションマネージャ３０５はこの表示に対して少なくとも
中断を希望しているエンティティにトランザクション番
号７０３を供給することによって応答する。エンティテ
ィが続行することを希望する場合には、エンティティは
初めにトランザクションを開始するのに用いた番号をダ
イアルし、トランザクションマネージャ３０５はそれに
応答して交換機１０７をして、前記エンティティに対し
て新たなトランザクションを開始するのか以前のものを
続行するのかを表示するように促させる。後者の場合に
は、トランザクションマネージャ３０５は交換機１０７
に前記エンティティに対してトランザクション番号７０
３を入力するよう促し、このトランザクション番号をト
ランザクションデータベース２０９を管理しているエン
ティティ１０５（３）に対して提供する。エンティティ
１０５（３）はトランザクション番号７０３をトランザ
クションレコード７０１を配置するため及びトランザク
ションレコード７０１をトランザクションマネージャ３
０５に提供するために用いる。その後、トランザクショ
ンマネージャ３０５はトランザクション情報７０５内の
情報をトランザクションを再開するために用いる。
【００２０】他の実施例においては、エンティティに関
するトランザクションレコード７０１が、エンティティ
に対する全てのトランザクションレコード７０１が時刻
順に配置されるように組織化される。この場合には、エ
ンティティがトランザクションを再開しようと望むと、
トランザクションマネージャ３０５はトランザクション
の再開を望んでいるこのエンティティに関するもっとも
最近のトランザクションから開始し、交換機１０７にこ
のエンティティに対してトランザクションの概要を提供
させるためにトランザクション情報７０５を用いる。こ
の概要は、ＴＩＮＦ７０５の適切な部分を音声に変換す
るためにＡＳＣＩＩ−音声変換技術を用いて提供され
る。前記エンティティがこの概要から前記トランザクシ
ョンが再開しようと望んでいるものであるということを
決定した場合には、前記エンティティは信号によってト
ランザクションマネージャ３０５に対してこの事実を示
し、その後トランザクションマネージャ３０５は前記ト
ランザクションを再開するためのトランザクション概要
源であったトランザクションレコード７０１を用いる。
【００２１】トランザクションの再開に関する上述の技
法は、トランザクションがいくつかの個別のステップを
有しているような場合においても用いられ得る。このよ
うな多段トランザクションにおいては、このトランザク
ションに関するトランザクションレコード７０１が存在
する。このトランザクションレコード７０１はその時点
で実際になされているトランザクションに係るレコード
も保持している。トランザクションの第一ステップの
間、それに参加しているエンティティに対してこのトラ
ンザクションに係るトランザクション番号７０３が与え
られる。参加者がトランザクションの第二ステップを開
始すると、トランザクションマネージャ３０５は交換機
１０７に前記参加者に対してトランザクション番号７０
３を要求させ、そのトランザクション番号を当該トラン
ザクションに対するトランザクションレコード７０１を
配置するために用いる。その後、トランザクションマネ
ージャ３０５は前記レコードに応答して上述されている
ようにこのトランザクションの次のステップを実行し、
実行したトランザクションのレコードを更新する。
【００２２】同様に、与えられたトランザクションは他
の可能なトランザクションを引き起こし得る。例えば、
あるトランザクションに関与しているのがあるエンティ
ティによる他のエンティティの商品の購入である場合、
購入者側はその商品に関して疑問あるいは問題を抱えて
いる時には第二のエンティティに到達することを欲し、
第二のエンティティは在庫がない場合あるいはリコール
が必要な場合には購入者に到達することを欲する。トラ
ンザクションレコード７０１はこのような他のトランザ
クションにおいても用いられ得る。もちろん、既に示さ
れているように、トランザクション番号以外の技法もト
ランザクションレコードとトランザクションに関与して
いるエンティティとを関連付けるために用いられ得る。
例えば、トランザクションレコードは電話番号あるいは
エンティティを識別する他の識別名もしくは番号と関連
付けられかつそれらによって到達可能となり得る。実際
には、一つ以上の技法がある与えられたレコードに対し
て用いられる。トランザクション番号は個々のレコード
へのアクセスを行なうために用いられ得るが、一方エン
ティティ識別番号はある与えられたエンティティに関係
している全てのトランザクションへのアクセスを行なう
ために用いられる。さらに、トランザクションレコード
はトランザクションの時刻を含んでおり、あるエンティ
ティに対するトランザクションレコードは時間に関する
順序で回復され得る。
【００２３】クレジットカードトランザクションシステ
ムにおける隠ぺいの利用：第４図システム３０３のよう
なシステムの有している、情報をトランザクション参加
者から隠ぺいするという機能は、このトランザクション
が電話クレジットカードトランザクションである場合に
特に有効である。この種のトランザクションは、例えば
以下のように実行される：まず、利用者が（しばしば８
００番号を用いて）ベンダに電話をかける。利用者とベ
ンダとが接続されると、利用者はトランザクションがク
レジットカードトランザクションであるか否かを決定す
る。その後、ベンダは利用者に対して価格を知らせ、こ
のトランザクションがクレジットカードトランザクショ
ンである場合は、ベンダは利用者に対してクレジットカ
ード番号を尋ねる。利用者はここで電話を切り、ベンダ
はクレジットカード会社の確認システムを用いて利用者
のクレジットカードを確認する。このことを行なった
後、ベンダはクレジットカードトランザクションを完了
し、利用者に対して商品を郵送する。このようなトラン
ザクション実行モードに関してはいくつかの問題点があ
る。利用者の観点からの最も重要な問題点は、利用者が
自らの知らない他人にクレジットカード番号を知らせな
ければならないということである。ベンダの観点での問
題点は、ベンダが実際に知りたいのが利用者が支払い可
能であるか否かということだけである場合にクレジット
カードシステムを取り扱うということである。
【００２４】図４は、上記問題点を考慮し解決するシス
テム４０１を示した図である。トランザクションを開始
するに際して、利用者Ｃ４０３はベンダ４０５に電話を
かけるために通信システム３０３を利用する。ベンダに
電話をかけるために用いられた番号は、トランザクショ
ンの種類とベンダの双方を識別するようトランザクショ
ン識別子４０９及びベンダ識別子４１０として機能す
る。交換機１０７がトランザクション識別子４０９を受
信すると、それに応答してトランザクションマネージャ
４０７を起動しそれに対してベンダ識別子４１０を供給
する。トランザクションマネージャ４０７はベンダ識別
子４１０を保持しつつ交換機１０７に対して交換機１０
７と利用者４０３との間のメッセージ経路４２１を設定
させ、さらにデジタル音声メッセージを利用者４０３に
対して提供して利用者４０３のクレジットカード番号を
尋ねさせる。利用者は電話のタッチトーンTMを用いてク
レジットカード番号４１１を入力する。交換機１０７は
ボタンが押された場合に生成されるタッチトーン信号を
受信し、これをデジタルデータに変換してトランザクシ
ョンマネージャ４０７へ提供する。トランザクションマ
ネージャ４０７箱のクレジットカード番号を保持して交
換機１０７に対してメッセージ経路４２３を設定させ、
利用者をメッセージ経路４２１及び４２３を介してベン
ダに接続させる。利用者及びベンダはこのトランザクシ
ョンにおいて話合いを行ない、価格に関する合意を成立
させる。その後、ベンダ４０５は電話のタッチトーンボ
タンを用いてその価格（Ｐ４１３）を入力する。交換機
１０７はタッチトーン信号を受信するとそれをトランザ
クションマネージャ４０７に供給する。トランザクショ
ンマネージャ４０７はベンダ識別子４１０、クレジット
カード番号４１１及び価格４１３をクレジットマネージ
ャ４１５に供給する。クレジットマネージャ４１５はク
レジットカードデータベース中の情報から利用者４０３
が購入可能であるか否かを決定する。利用者４０３が購
入可能である場合には、クレジットマネージャ４１５は
トランザクション確認メッセージ４１９をトランザクシ
ョンマネージャ４０７に対して供給し、トランザクショ
ンマネージャ４０７はこのメッセージ４１９をベンダ４
０５に対して供給する。ベンダ４０５はこのインタラク
ションを必要に応じて終了あるいは継続する。クレジッ
トカードデータベース４１７中の情報がトランザクショ
ンが生じ得ることを示した場合は、クレジットマネージ
ャ４１５はこのトランザクションに係る金額を利用者４
０３の口座から借方記入し、トランザクションマネージ
ャ４０７に対してトランザクション確認信号４１９を送
出した後に前記金額をベンダ４０５の口座に対して貸方
記入する。トランザクションに関して必要とされる他の
情報、例えば利用者の宛先、は、利用者４０３から直接
あるいは利用者４０３に関するクレジットカードデータ
ベース４１７中の情報から得られる。
【００２５】上述されたシステムに関する多くの変更が
もちろん可能である。例えば、ベンダＩＤ４１０は８０
０番号に関して記述されているのと同様に電話番号か
ら、あるいはリスキンによる参照文献に記述されている
ようにディーラーの地域リストから、導かれ得る。ある
いはディーラーが金額とともに識別子を供給してもよ
い。同様にクレジットマネージャ４１５及びクレジット
カードデータベース４１７は通信システム３０３から完
全に独立したエンティティであってもよく、あるいは通
信システムを利用者に対して提供している会社によって
まかなわれているクレジットシステムの一部であっても
よい。例えば、利用者４０３によってなされたベンダ４
０５からの購入が比較的少額である場合にはその金額が
利用者４０３の電話料金に対して付加されることも可能
である。このような場合には、前述のＡＮＩサービスに
よって提供される利用者の４０３の電話番号はクレジッ
トカード番号４１１としても機能する。利用者４０３の
電話番号は利用者４０３のクレジットマネージャ４１５
に対するアイデンティティを確認するために付加的に用
いられ得る。このような具体例においては、ＡＮＩによ
って提供された利用者４０３の電話番号が利用者４０３
に対してリストされているものと異なった場合には、利
用者４０３はクレジットカード番号以外に自宅の電話番
号をも提供するように要請される。
【００２６】さらに、前述のシステム３０１に係るトラ
ンザクションの中断、ステップ毎のトランザクションの
実行あるいは関連するトランザクションの実行に関する
議論において記述された全ての技法がシステム４０１に
おいて用いられ得る。システム４０１におけるトランザ
クションレコード７０１は、トランザクションの日付及
び時刻、利用者４０３のアイデンティティ、住所、及び
電話番号、ベンダ４０５のアイデンティティ、住所、及
び電話番号、購入した製品及びその価格、及び他の有用
な情報を含んでいる。さらに、トランザクションレコー
ド７０１の回復に関してシステム３０１において記述さ
れている技法がシステム４０１においても用いられる。
【００２７】システム４０１においてトランザクション
レコード７０１が有用に用いられる状況の例には、中断
されたトランザクション及び利用者４０３がベンダ４０
５に対してあるいはベンダ４０５が利用者４０３に対し
てトランザクションに関してその後に行なった通話等の
付随トランザクションが含まれる。（関連するトランザ
クションレコード７０１のトランザクション状態７０５
によって示されているように）状況に依存して、トラン
ザクションマネージャ４０７は利用者４０３からの通話
をベンダ４０５における適切な応対者に回し、トランザ
クションレコード７０１からの関連する情報をこの適切
な応対者に供給する。
【００２８】トランザクションを取り次ぐための一般的
なシステム：第５図 従来技術に係るクラウス、エンテンマン、及びメダマナ
によるシステム及び本発明に係るシステムは、通信シス
テムがトランザクションを取り次ぐシステムの範疇に含
まれるものである。図５は、通信システム５０３が任意
数だけ供給することを可能にするシステム５０１を記述
した図である。システム５０１においては、トランザク
ションマネージャ５０５がトランザクションアルゴリズ
ム５０７（０．．ｎ）のリスト５０９を含んでいる。リ
ストに示されている各々のアルゴリズムは、システム５
０１が取り次ぐ相異なったタイプのトランザクションを
規定している。
【００２９】通信システム５０３によって到達可能なエ
ンティティ１０５の内の一つがトランザクションを開始
しようと欲する場合には、そのエンティティは交換機１
０７に対して自ら実行しようと欲しているトランザクシ
ョンのタイプに対するトランザクション識別子５１１を
供給する。ここではそのエンティティがエンティティ１
０５（ｉ）であるとする。既に示されているように、ト
ランザクション識別子５１１は特別の電話番号である。
あるいは特定の電話番号への接尾辞であり、あるいはさ
らにトランザクションマネージャ５０５によって導出さ
れるもので、エンティティ１０５（ｉ）がトランザクシ
ョンタイプのクラスに属するトランザクションタイプか
ら選択することを欲していることを示している。
【００３０】既に示されているように、交換機１０７は
トランザクション識別子５１１をトランザクションマネ
ージャ５０５に対して供給する。以下の記述において
は、トランザクション識別子５１１はトランザクション

なくトランザクションマネージャ５０５によって直接に
アクセスされ得る。
【００３１】図５において、トランザクションアルゴリ
ズム５０７（ｂ）は、トランザクションを開始するエン
ティティＥ１０５（ｉ）、Ｅ１０５（ｊ）及びＥ１０５
（ｋ）の３つのエンティティが関与しているトランザク
ションを規定するために用いられる。アルゴリズム５０
７（ｂ）によって要求されているように、トランザクシ
ョンマネージャ５０５は通信システム５０３にエンティ
ティからのトランザクション情報を要求させ、このトラ
ンザクション情報をトランザクションによって要求され
ているようにエンティティ及びトランザクションマネー
ジャ５０５に対して供給する。すなわち、トランザクシ
ョン情報５１９はエンティティ１０５（ｉ）に係り、ト
ランザクション情報５１５はエンティティ１０５（ｋ）
に係り、トランザクション情報５１７はエンティティ１
０５（ｊ）に係る。図５に示されているように、トラン
ザクションマネージャは５０５はトランザクション情報
に関して信号経路あるいはメッセージ経路の内のいずれ
かを用い、トランザクションアルゴリズム５０７（ｂ）
によって要求されているようにエンティティを互いにあ
るいはトランザクションマネージャ５０５自体に対して
接続する。トランザクションアルゴリズム５０７（ｂ）
における制御の流れは、もちろんトランザクションマネ
ージャ５０５がエンティティから得られたトランザクシ
ョン情報において受信した値に依存する。さらに、トラ
ンザクションアルゴリズム５０７（ｂ）はトランザクシ
ョンの一部を実行するためにトランザクションリスト５
０９中の他のトランザクションアルゴリズムも使用す
る。
【００３２】アルゴリズムリスト５０９中のアルゴリズ
ムはすべて通信システム５０３のオペレータによって供
給される。他の実施例においては、通信システム５０３
のオペレータは通信システムのあるユーザに対してトラ
ンザクションアルゴリズムリスト５０９に係るトランザ
クションアルゴリズムを供給することを許可している。
実際、通信システム５０３によって取り次がれるトラン
ザクションの内の一つは、リスト５０９内のトランザク
ションアルゴリズム５０７のインストーレーションであ
る。このようなトランザクションにおいては、トランザ
クションマネージャ５０５はこのトランザクションを識
別するトランザクション識別子に応答して新たなアルゴ
リズム５０７をトランザクションを開始したエンティテ
ィ１０５に対して要求し、新たなアルゴリズム５０７を
その正確さを確認するためにたのエンティティに対して
サブミットし、確認が完了するとこの新たなアルゴリズ
ムをリスト５０９にインストールする。アルゴリズムが
正確ではないことが見いだされた場合には、トランザク
ションマネージャ５０５はエラーメッセージをこのトラ
ンザクションを開始したエンティティに対して返送す
る。もちろん、これらアルゴリズムはすべて前記トラン
ザクションレコードを用いている。
【００３３】 電話システムにおけるシステム４０１の実現：第６図 図６は、現在の電話システムにおけるシステム４０１の
実現を示した図である。当業者には明らかであるよう
に、電話システムにおいてシステム４０１を実現するた
めに用いられる技法は、システム３０１及び５０１を実
現するためにも用いられ得る。
【００３４】現在の電話交換ネットワークはストアされ
たプログラムによって制御されたネットワーク（ストア
ードプログラムコントロールドネットワーク）である。
すなわち、ネットワークの個々のエレメントの振舞いは
ストアされたプログラムによって支配される。エイ・テ
ィー・アンド・ティー（ＡＴ＆Ｔ）社によって提供され
るストアードプログラムコントロールドネットワークに

ムコントロールドネットワークのコンポーネントを用い
ている。
【００３５】このＡＴ＆Ｔ社製ストアードプログラムコ
ントロールドネットワークの重要な特徴は、制御信号及
びメッセージに対して個別の経路が存在するということ
である。メッセージは、図６において実線６０７、６１
５、６１９、６３７、及び６４１によって示されてる交
換回路を進む；制御信号は共通チャネル局間信号ファシ
リティ（ＣＣＩＳ）を進む。このＣＣＩＳは、その構成
要素の間で制御メッセージを伝達するパケットネットワ
ークである。交換機及び電話会社によって供給されてい
るストアードプログラムコントロールドネットワーク内
のデータベースの全ては図６において破線６１３によっ
て示されているようにＣＣＩＳによって互いに接続され
ている。
【００３６】ＡＴ＆Ｔ社製ストアードプログラムコント
ロールドネットワークの以下のコンポーネントがシステ
ム６０１において用いられている： ・ＣＣＩＳによって制御された交換機６０９、６１７及
び６３９： −交換機６０９は、特別なクラスの通話を検出する発信
スクリーニング局（ＯＳＯ）である −交換機６１７は、ある種類の通話を処理するためのフ
ァシリティへのアクセスが可能なアクションコントロー
ルポイント（ＡＣＰ）である −交換機６３９は、特別なクラスの通話をその通話先へ
接続する通話先サービス局（ＤＳＯ）である ・ネットワークコントロールポイント（ＮＣＰ）６１１
及び６３３。ネットワークコントロールポイントは、あ
る機能をネットワークに実行させるために、ネットワー
クの他のコンポーネントに要求されるようにメッセージ
を供給する。 −ＩＮＤ ＮＣＰ６１１は、８００番号などの特別な番
号に関するデータベースを有しており、この特別な番号
が交換システムによってどのようにして処理されるべき
かを示すメッセージを提供する。 −ＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３は、特定の電話サービスに関す
るデータベースを有しており、交換システムに対して特
定のサービスを実行させるメッセージを供給する。シス
テム６０１においては、ＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３はトラン
ザクションマネージャ４０７の機能を実行する。 ・ネットワークサービスコンプレックス（ＮＳＣ）６２
１は、ＣＣＩＳ６１３のメッセージに応答してある種の
プリミティブな機能（ＰＲＳ）６３１を実現する。シス
テム６０１に含まれるこのプリミティブ機能には、音声
アナウンス供給６２３、ＤＴＭＦ信号デコード６２５、
データ回線設定６２７、及び通話の設定６２９が含まれ
る。 システム６０１の付加的なコンポーネント群には、図４
の利用者４０３に属するタッチトーン電話６０３、図４
のベンダ４０５に属するタッチトーン電話６４３、電話
機６０３をストアードプログラムコントロールドネット
ワークに接続する地域交換機６０５、利用者のクレジッ
ト状況を決定するクレジットマネージャ４１５、及びク
レジット情報を有しているクレジットカードデータベー
ス４１７が含まれる。クレジットマネージャ４１５はデ
ータ回線４１６を介してＮＳＣ６２１に接続される。こ
こで、交換機６０９、６１７、６３９、ＮＳＣ６２１、
及びＩＮＤ ＮＣＰ６１１は、それら全体で図４の交換
機１０７の機能を実行することに留意されたい。
【００３７】システム６０１は、システム４０１に関し
て記述された取り次がれたクレジットトランザクション
を以下のように実行する。利用者４０３は電話６０３を
用いて例えば９９０で始まる特定の番号をダイアルす
る。この特定の番号は少なくともトランザクションの種
類を表わしている。ダイアルされた番号は地域交換機６
０５へ行き、地域交換機６０５はその番号を回路６０７
を介してＯＳＯ６０９へ供給する。ＯＳＯ６０９はその
番号が特別であるか否かを決定し、ＣＣＩＳ６１３を介
してメッセージをＩＮＤ ＮＣＰ６１１へ送出する。こ
のメッセージは少なくともこの特定の電話番号を含んで
いる。
【００３８】ＩＮＤ ＮＣＰ６１１はこの特別の番号か
らこの通話がＡＣＰ６１７によって処理されるべきもの
であることを決定する。なぜなら、このＡＣＰ６１７は
ネットワークサービスコンプレックス６２１を有してい
るからである。その結果、ＩＮＤ ＮＣＰ６１１は、電
話６４３の番号、必要とされている特定のサービスのタ
イプ及びＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３を規定するＣＣＩＳメッ
セージをＯＳＯ６０９宛に送出する。ＯＳＯ６０９はこ
のメッセージに応答してこの通話を回路６１５によって
示されているＡＣＰ６１７に転送し、ＡＮＩによって供
給される電話６４３の電話番号、要求される特別なサー
ビスのタイプ、ＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３のスペシフィケー
ション、及び電話６０３の電話番号を含むＣＣＩＳメッ
セージをＡＣＰ６１７に送出する。
【００３９】ＯＳＯ６０９からのメッセージを受信する
と、ＡＣＰ６１７は、必要とされている特定のサービス
のタイプ及び電話６４３及び６０３の電話番号を含むＣ
ＣＩＳメッセージをＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３へ送出する。
その後、ＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３は必要とされている特定
のサービスのタイプに対応するトランザクションアルゴ
リズム６３６を配置してこのアルゴリズムの実行を開始
する。ＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３がアルゴリズムを実行する
と、ＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３は、ストアードプログラムネ
ットワークのコンポーネントに対してこのストアードプ
ログラムネットワークにトランザクションの取り次ぎを
させるＣＣＩＳメッセージを送出する。
【００４０】トランザクションにおける第一のステップ
は利用者４０３のクレジットカード番号を獲得すること
である。ＮＣＰ６３３は、ＮＳＣ６２１に対して、ＮＳ
Ｃ６２１と電話６０３とを接続するために通話接続プリ
ミティブ６２９を用いることを指示するＣＣＩＳメッセ
ージを送出する。通話接続プリミティブは回路６１９に
よって示されているようにその機能を実行し、その後、
ＮＣＰ６３３はＮＳＣ６２１に対してＣＣＩＳメッセー
ジを送出して電話６０３のユーザが電話のタッチトーン
ボタンを用いてクレジットカード番号を入力することを
要求するためにアナウンスプリミティブ６２３を用いさ
せ、さらにタッチトーンボタンから受信した入力をデコ
ードするためにＤＴＭＦデコードプリミティブ６２５を
用いさせ、さらにそれらをＣＣＩＳを介してＮＣＰ６３
３へ送出する。ＴＡＬＧ６３６の実行を継続して、ＮＣ
Ｐ６３３は適切な数字列が送出されたか否かを決定す
る。適切な数字列が送出されたのではなかった場合に
は、ＮＣＰ６３３はＣＣＩＳメッセージをＮＳＣ６２１
に対して送出し、プリミティブ６２３を用いて電話６０
３のユーザに入力エラーに関して通知し、プリミティブ
６２５を用いて新たな入力を収集する。ＮＣＰ６３３が
適切な数字列を得ると、ＮＣＰ６３３はそれらをストア
してＮＳＣ６２１に対してＣＣＩＳメッセージを送出
し、ＮＳＣ６２１にＡＣＰ６１７からの通話を電話６４
３へ接続することを要求し、このことによって利用者４
０３とベンダ４０５とを接続し、電話６４３からのＤＴ
ＭＦトーンの入力を待つ。
【００４１】利用者４０３とベンダ４０５とがトランザ
クションについて合意した後、トランザクションアルゴ
リズム６３６の実行は継続され、ベンダ４０３は電話６
４３のタッチトーンボタンを用いて価格を入力する。Ｎ
ＳＣ６２１のプリミティブ６２５がＤＴＭＦトーンをデ
コードしてその価格をＣＣＩＳメッセージを介してＤＳ
Ｄ ＮＣＰ６３３へ供給する。その後、ＤＳＤ ＮＣＰ
６３３はＣＣＩＳメッセージをＮＳＣ６２１へ送出して
ＮＳＣ６２１にクレジットマネージャ４１５とのデータ
回線を設定するためにプリミティブ６２７を用いること
を要求する。そしてデータ回線が設定されると、クレジ
ットカード番号、電話６４３の電話番号、及び価格をＤ
ＳＤ ＮＣＰ６３３へ供給することを求める他のＣＣＩ
Ｓメッセージを送出し、クレジットカードマネージャ４
１５の応答を返送する。その後、クレジットマネージャ
４１５はデータベース４１７を検索し、利用者４０３が
必要な残高を有している場合には、利用者４０３の口座
に借方記入し、（電話番号によって識別される）ベンダ
４０５の口座に貸方記入する。クレジットマネージャ４
１５はトランザクションの成立あるいは不成立を示す値
をＮＳＣ６２１に対して返送し、ＮＳＣ６２１はそれを
ＮＣＰ６３３へ供給する；値に依存して、ＮＣＰ６３３
はＮＳＣ６２１内のアナウンスプリミティブ６２３に、
電話６４３の所にいるベンダ４０５に対してトランザク
ションが成立したか否かを示し、トランザクションアル
ゴリズム６３６を完了する。
【００４２】システム６０１及びトランザクションアル
ゴリズム６３６における様々な変更が可能である。例え
ば、ベンダ４０５、利用者４０３、あるいはその双方が
統合サービスデジタルネットワーク（ＩＳＤＮ）サービ
スを有している場合がある。この場合には、電話６０３
あるいは６４３がデジタル端末及びキーボードによって
置換される。このような実施例においては、ＮＳＣ６２
１は入力促進音声信号の代わりに端末に対して入力促進
信号を供給する。さらに、ＮＳＣ６２１は音声認識プリ
ミティブを含み得る；このような場合には利用者４０３
はクレジットカード番号を音声で入力し、ベンダ４０５
は同様に価格を入力する。また、クレジットマネージャ
４１５はシステム６０１の他の部分といくつかの相異な
った関連を持ち得る。システム６０１はネットワークコ
ントロールポイントとしても実現され得るものであり、
図６に示されているようにデータ回線によって、あるい
は電話６０３及び６４３と同様に交換回路によって接続
され得る。
【００４３】トランザクションアルゴリズム６４３に関
連して、システム６０１と利用者４０３とベンダ４０５
との間の相互作用が拡張され得る。例えば、利用者４０
３は他の識別情報を供給するように要求され、ベンダ４
０５は価格とともにベンダ識別番号を供給するように要
求される。その後、ベンダ識別番号はデータベース４１
７中のベンダの口座を識別するために用いられる。さら
に、クレジットカード確認が二ステップでなされ得る。
第一のステップにおいては、クレジットカード番号の受
信がなされた後に利用者の口座が存在していることが確
認される；第二ステップにおいては、その口座に借方記
入される。さらに、従来技術に関して記述されたあらゆ
る電話番号翻訳サービスがシステム６０１に関して用い
られ得る。加えて、クレジットカードデータベース４１
７はトランザクションレコード７０１を含むことが可能
であり、これらのレコードはシステム４０１に関して既
に記述されているように中断されたトランザクションを
再開するためあるいは付随するトランザクションに関す
る情報を供給するために用いられ得る。
【００４４】以上、本発明が、通信システムによって到
達可能なエンティティ間のトランザクションを取り次ぐ
ためにその通信システムを作成しかつ用いるのに適して
いるかが記述されている。しかしながら、本発明の性質
及び以上の記述から、本発明の特定の実施例が本質的に
無数に存在し得ることが明らかである。例えば、以上に
記載されていたシステムは電話投票に対しても用いられ
得る。このようなシステムにおいては、トランザクショ
ンマネージャは投票者の投票適格性を決定し、適格であ
る場合には計数を行なっているエンティティに票を供給
する。
【００４５】この種のシステムの他の利用法は、贈物の
登録サービスに関するものである。贈物を捜しているエ
ンティティは必要としているもののリストを登録サービ
スに対して提供する。贈物をしようと欲しているエンテ
ィティは登録サービスに対して通話をし、登録サービス
はドナーと贈られるものを提供する者との間のトランザ
クションを取り次ぐ。
【００４６】その他の利用法には、援助を求める顧客に
対して与えられたタイプの利用可能な資源を割り当てる
ことに関するものである。この種のシステムの一例は、
弁護士紹介サービスである。紹介サービスは弁護士に関
するデータベースを維持しており、各々の弁護士が公正
な紹介割り当てを得るように各々の弁護士を割り当て
る。このシステムはデータベースからどの弁護士が紹介
を受けるべきかを決定し、その弁護士を電話をかけてき
た顧客に接続する。
【００４７】さらに、通信システムは、オークション等
のトランザクションを取り次ぐために有効に用いられ得
る。利用者は競り値をつける。通信システムはこの競り
値を有効にし、それを競売人に提供する。競売人は競り
値のみを知ることが可能であり、競り値をつけた者のア
イデンティティを知ることはない。その後、通信システ
ムは各々の参加者に現在の最高の競り値を示し、単一の
最高の競り値が残るまで新たな競り値を要求する。ある
実施例においては、通信システムはそれ自体が競売人の
役割を演じる。このような実施例においては、トランザ
クションマネージャは現時点での最高の競り値を追跡
し、参加者にその競り値を知らせ、競り値付けが終了し
た時点でトランザクションを最高の競り値をつけた参加
者で終了する。
【００４８】さらに、既に指摘されているように、本発
明はメッセージの送り手をメッセージの受け手と能動的
に接続するあらゆる通信システムにおいて用いられ得
る。本発明の特定の実施例の詳細は用いられる通信シス
テムの種類及び取り次がれるトランザクションの種類に
強く依存するが、以上に記述されているのは本発明の一
実施例に関するもので，この技術分野の当業者であれ
ば、本発明の種々の変形例が考え得るが、それらはいず
れも本発明の技術的範囲に包含される。

【発明の効果】以上述べたごとく、本発明によれば、通
信システムを、通信システムによって到達可能なエンテ
ィティを含む種々のタイプのトランザクションを取り次
ぐために用いる方法が提供される。

Claims (10)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 通信システムを、利用者、ベンダ、クレ
    ジット提供エンティティとの間のクレジットトランザク
    ションを取り次ぐために用いる方法において、当該方法
    が、 前記通信システムにおける前記利用者からのトランザク
    ション規定子を受信するステップ；及び、 以下のステップを含むステップを前記通信システムで実
    行することによって前記トランザクション規定子に応答
    するステップからなることを特徴とする通信システム利
    用方法。 （ａ）前記利用者から少なくともクレジット識別番号を
    獲得するステップ； （ｂ）前記ベンダから少なくとも借方記入すべき金額を
    獲得するステップ； （ｃ）前記クレジット識別番号及び前記借方記入すべき
    金額を前記クレジット提供エンティティへ供給するステ
    ップ； （ｄ）前記クレジット提供エンティティから前記クレジ
    ットトランザクションが許可され得るものであるか否か
    に係る表示を受信するステップ；及び （ｅ）前記表示を前記ベンダに供給するステップ。
  2. 【請求項２】 前記トランザクション規定子に応答する
    前記ステップが、前記利用者と前記ベンダとを互いに接
    続するために前記通信システムを用いるステップを含む
    ことを特徴とする請求項第１項に記載の通信システム利
    用方法。
  3. 【請求項３】 前記通信システムを前記利用者と前記ベ
    ンダとを接続するために用いる前記ステップが、前記ベ
    ンダから借方記入すべき金額を獲得する前記ステップよ
    りも前に起こることを特徴とする請求項第２項に記載の
    通信システム利用方法。
  4. 【請求項４】 前記方法が、前記クレジット識別番号を
    前記ベンダに対して明らかにするいかなるステップをも
    含まないことを特徴とする請求項第１項に記載の通信シ
    ステム利用方法。
  5. 【請求項５】 前記通信システムが電話システムであ
    り；及び、 前記トランザクション規定子受信ステップが、 前記電話システム中の特定の電話番号を受信するステッ
    プ、及び、 前記特定の電話番号を前記トランザクション規定子を導
    出するために用いるステップを含むことを特徴とする請
    求項第１項に記載の通信システム利用方法。
  6. 【請求項６】 前記トランザクション規定子受信ステッ
    プが、さらに前記ベンダの電話番号を導出するために前
    記特定の電話番号を用いるステップを有し、 前記トランザクション規定子に応答する前記ステップが
    前記ベンダから前記クレジットトランザクションに係る
    トランザクション情報を獲得するためにあるいは前記ベ
    ンダに対してトランザクション情報を提供するために前
    記電話番号を用いるステップを含むことを特徴とする請
    求項第５項に記載の通信システム利用方法。
  7. 【請求項７】 前記電話システムが前記特定の電話番号
    をかけた発信者の電話番号を保持しており、及び、 前記トランザクション識別子に応答する前記ステップが
    前記特定の電話番号をかけた発信者の電話番号を前記電
    話システムから前記トランザクション情報の一部として
    獲得するステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項第５項
    に記載の通信システム利用方法。
  8. 【請求項８】 前記トランザクション規定子に応答して
    実行される前記ステップが、前記クレジットトランザク
    ションに係る情報をトランザクションレコードに入力す
    るステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項第１、２、
    ３、４、５、６、あるいは７項に記載の通信システム利
    用方法。
  9. 【請求項９】 前記方法が、さらに、 前記通信システムにおいてさらにトランザクション規定
    子を受信するステップ；及び、 当該新たに受信されたトランザクション規定子に対して
    当該新たなトランザクション規定子及び前記トランザク
    ションレコードによって規定されるさらなるトランザク
    ションを実行することによって応答するステップを含む
    ことを特徴とする請求項第８項に記載の通信システム利
    用方法。
  10. 【請求項１０】 通信システムを、当該通信システムを
    介してアクセス可能な複数個のエンティティが関与して
    おりかつ当該エンティティ間の前記通信システム以外の
    トランザクション情報をお互いの間で有している複数個
    のタイプのトランザクションを取り次ぐために用いる方
    法において、当該方法が、 前記通信システムにおけるトランザクションのタイプの
    内の一つを規定するトランザクションタイプ規定子を受
    信するステップ；前記通信システムにおいてトランザク
    ションマネージャを起動することによって前記トランザ
    クションタイプ規定子に応答するステップ；及び、 前記トランザクションマネージャ内において前記トラン
    ザクションタイプ規定子によって規定されるトランザク
    ションタイプに対応するトランザクションアルゴリズム
    をトランザクションアルゴリズムの組から選択するステ
    ップ；前記トランザクションマネージャにおいて、前記
    トランザクションアルゴリズムによって要求されるよう
    に、 前記トランザクションに関与している少なくとも一つの
    エンティティから第一のトランザクション情報を獲得す
    るために前記通信システムを用いるステップ；及び、 前記トランザクションに関与している少なくとも一つの
    エンティティに第二のトランザクション情報を供給する
    ために用いるステップ；を実行するステップ；を有する
    ことを特徴とする通信システム利用方法。
