Description
【発明の詳細な説明】
産業上の利用分野
本発明は、銅イオン(Cu+)伝導性の固体電解
質を用いる二次電池や電気二重層キヤパシタなど
に利用される可逆性銅電極に関する。

従来性の構成とその問題点
最近、高い銅イオン伝導性の固体電解質がつぎ
つぎと見出されている。これらは従来の銅イオン
伝導性の固体電解質とほぼ同程度のイオン伝導率
と分解電圧を持つところから、同程度の電流が流
せ、エネルギー蓄積ができる安価な電池やキヤパ
シタが得られる可能性がある。しかし、その現実
を阻む一つの問題点として、可逆性の銅電極が無
いことが挙げられる。

伝導性の固体電解質とほぼ同程度のイオン伝導率
と分解電圧を持つところから、同程度の電流が流
せ、エネルギー蓄積ができる安価な電池やキヤパ
シタが得られる可能性がある。しかし、その現実
を阻む一つの問題点として、可逆性の銅電極が無
いことが挙げられる。
銅を電極とすると、その端子電圧は電解質の分
解電圧に近くできる可能性をもつが、酸化反応が
非可逆的で、早期に短絡を起こす欠点がある。酸
化反応が非可逆的になるのは、酸化生成物が表面
を覆つて反応を阻害するためと思われる。

そこで、Cu2Sを添加したり、CuyTiS2(0.65<
y<0.9)で表される化合物を用いることが提案
された、これらの電極の可逆性を示す範囲は余り
広くなく、Cu2Sの添加においては、Cu2Sが30〜
40重量%、CuyTiS2でy値にして0.8〜0.9程度の
所が最適巾で、その範囲をはずれると銅の電位よ
り貴の方にはずれたり、可逆性が悪くなつたりす
る決点をもつている。

発明の目的
本発明は、自然電位が銅の電位に近く、広い電
流巾にわたつて可逆性を示す銅電極を提供するこ
とを目的とする。

発明の構成
本発明の銅電極は、式Cu5Mo6S8±x(ただし
0≦x≦0.5)で表わされる化合物により構成し
たものである。

第1図は本発明の銅電極を用いた電気化学装置
を示す。

る化合物や前記式中Rbの25%をKで置換したも
のなどを用いる。3は負極である。4は正極の集
電体で、クラフアイト、貴金属のように電気化学
的に不活性な物質を用いる。5は負極の集電体で
銅を用いる。

以上が単セルの構成で、最大電圧は0.5Vであ
り、必要な電圧を得るためには、複数の単セルを

本発明の銅電極に用いる化合物は銅、モリブデ
ン、イオウの粉末を原子比で5:6:8.5の割合
で混合し、プレス成形した後、密封容器に入れ、
一度真空に引き、その状態で400℃の温度で12時
間、次いで1000℃で24時間加熱することによつて
製造することができる。

次に、本発明の銅電極を二次電池に適用した実
施例を説明する。

正極として、活物質のTiS2200mgと電解質の
Rbcu4I1.5Cl3.5600mgの混合物、電解質層には前記
電解質500mg、負極には、Cu5Mo6S8.350mgと同様
の電解質20mgの混合物をそれぞれ用い、成形して
第1図のような構成で直径10mmの電池を作つた。
なお、電解質層には、第1図に示すように、基準
極として銅線6を打ち込んで負極の電位変化を測
定した。
Rbcu4I1.5Cl3.5600mgの混合物、電解質層には前記
電解質500mg、負極には、Cu5Mo6S8.350mgと同様
の電解質20mgの混合物をそれぞれ用い、成形して
第1図のような構成で直径10mmの電池を作つた。
なお、電解質層には、第1図に示すように、基準
極として銅線6を打ち込んで負極の電位変化を測
定した。
上記の電池をAとし、比較例として、負極活物
質に銅を用いた電池をB、Cu0.9TiS2を用いた電
池をC、銅粉とCu2Sとの重量3:2の混合物を
用いた電池をDとする。

第2図は、これらの電池の放電電流密度と平坦
電圧との関係を示す。第3図は100μA/cm2で放電
したときの電位変化を示す。また、第4図は
100μA/cm2で3時間で充電し、同電流密度で3時
間放電する充放電を繰り返したときの50サイクル
毎の負極の容量変化を示す。なお、終止電圧は
0.3Vとした。

本発明の負極は、放電分極が少なく、2000サイ
クル程度の充放電に十分耐えることが明らかであ
る。

発明の効果
以上のように、本発明の銅電極の自然電位は、
銅や銅とCu2Sの混合物を用いる電極に較べてや
や貴であるが、放電分極が小さく、長寿命であ
り、銅イオン導電性の固体電解質を使つた二次電
池や電気二重層容量素子を可能にするものであ
る。

表わされる化合物よりなる可逆性銅電極。
