Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance stability and reliability of the operation of a photointerrupter by providing the following: a plurality of pairs of light-emitting elements and photodetectors; a decision circuit which judges a detection output and outputs it to the outside. CONSTITUTION:When an object blocks light between light-emitting elements 2-1 to 2-3 and photodetectors 3-1 to 3-3, a detection output is output to a decision circuit 4. The decision circuit 4 contains decision-by-majority circuits I1, I1, AN 1 to AN 3, 01 and coincidence circuits I1 to I3, 02, 03, AN 4. When major detection outputs of the photodetectors 3-1 to 3.3 are '1', a sense output lead 6 becomes '1'. When all detection outputs of the photodetectors 3-1 to 3-3 do not coincide, an unstable output lead 7 becomes '1'. Consequently, even when some of the light-emitting elements 2-1 to 2-3 and the photodetectors 3-1 to 3-3 break down or malfunction, the operation of a photointerrupter is guaranteed as long as the number does not reach a majority. Thereby, it is possible to enhance stability and reliability of the operation of the photointerrupter.

The conventional photo-interrupter described above is composed of a pair of light-emitting element and light-receiving element, so if either the light-emitting element or the light-receiving element drifts or malfunctions due to noise etc., the output of the photointerrupter will change. The disadvantage is that it is unstable due to changes in

The components inside the transmission type photointerrupter are enclosed in a case 1. In the area where objects are detected, the light emitting element 2-
Three light receiving elements 1 to 2-3 and three light receiving elements 3-1 to 3-3 are each attached in pairs. In this example, there are three pairs of detection elements, but a plurality of pairs may be used. In addition, there is a judgment circuit 4 inside, and a power lead 5 sense output to the outside.
Anxiety electric shock is coming out. The light emitting element is connected to a light emitting power supply lead 8.

FIG. 2 is a circuit diagram showing one embodiment. Light emitting element 2-1
2-3 are connected in parallel to the light emitting power supply lead, and the light emitting elements are in a state of emitting light. Now, when an object blocks the light between the light emitting element and the light receiving element, a detection output is input to the determination circuit 4.

Therefore, even if some of the light emitting elements or light emitting elements fail or malfunction, the operation as a photointerrupter is guaranteed as long as the number is less than the majority. By monitoring unstable output, it is also possible to discover failures or malfunctions in the light-emitting element or light-receiving element.
