Description
カーボンペーパー(CP)上にマルチウォールカーボンナノチューブ(Multi-Wall Carbon Nano-Tubes)を担持し、その表面上に2,2’-ビピリジン系配位子を有するルテニウム錯体を高分化して担持し、これをFTO膜付ガラス基板上にグラファイトペーストを用いて貼り合わせた構造を有する還元反応用電極102を用いた。すなわち、還元反応用電極102は、ルテニウム錯体(RuCP:Ru Complex Polymer)/マルチウォールカーボンナノチューブ(MWCNTs)/カーボンペーパー(CP)/グラファイトペースト(GP)/FTOの順に積層された構成とした。また、酸化反応用電極104(対極)にはプラチナ(Pt)ワイヤーを用い、基準電極にはHg/HgSO4電極を用いた三電極の化学反応装置を構成した。
本実施例では、電解液の二酸化炭素(CO2)の濃度を変えながら、還元反応用電極102の電気化学特性がどのように変化するかを調べた。電解液中の二酸化炭素(CO2)の濃度は、溶存炭酸ガスセンサを用いて測定した。バブリング前の電解液中に溶存する二酸化炭素(CO2)の濃度は0.0%であった。この電解液中に100%の二酸化炭素(CO2)をバブリングすることにより、溶存する二酸化炭素(CO2)の濃度を所定の濃度に設定した電解液を作製した。測定中は、二酸化炭素(CO2)のバブリングは行わなかった。
本実施例では、電解液の温度を変えながら、還元反応用電極102の電気化学特性がどのように変化するかを調べた。測定中は、3電極の小容量セルをウォーターバスに入れて電解液の温度を調整した。また、測定中は、電解液中に100%の二酸化炭素(CO2)を連続バブリングして二酸化炭素(CO2)を連続供給した。各温度の電解液を用意して、定電流モードでの電圧の時間変化(V-t)測定を行った。定電流モードでの電圧の時間変化(V-t)測定は、定電流密度を2mA/cm2とし、測定時間を30minの測定条件にて行った。定電流モードでの電圧の時間変化(V-t)測定後、ギ酸(HCOOH)の生成量をイオンクロマトグラフィーで定量し、ギ酸(HCOOH)の生成量と積算電流量からファラデー効率を算出した。
Claims (6)
- ビピリジン系配位子を有するルテニウム錯体を含む分子性触媒である還元触媒を電解液中で用い、
前記電解液は、pH範囲が6.0以上6.8以下の緩衝液であり、
前記電解液中の二酸化炭素(CO2)の飽和溶解度を100%としたときの前記電解液中の二酸化炭素(CO2)の濃度範囲が80%以上100%以下であり、
前記電解液の温度範囲が0℃以上40℃以下の条件を維持しながら動作することを特徴とする化学反応装置。 - 請求項1に記載の化学反応装置であって、
前記ビピリジン系配位子は、2,2’-ビピリジン系配位子であることを特徴とする化学反応装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の化学反応装置であって、
ギ酸(HCOOH)を生成することを特徴とする化学反応装置。 - 請求項3に記載の化学反応装置であって、
装置を構成する容器内に流れる電流密度j[mA/cm2]、前記電解液を流す方向の前記還元触媒の長さL[cm]及び当該方向に直交する幅W[cm]、前記容器出口における前記電解液のギ酸(HCOOH)の濃度Cf[mol/L]、前記容器入口における前記電解液のギ酸(HCOOH)の濃度Ci[mol/L]及びファラデー定数F[C/mol]としたとき、前記容器への前記電解液の流入速度Qの範囲を、
(j×W×L)/{F×(Cf-Ci)}≦Q
とすることを特徴とする化学反応装置。 - 請求項3に記載の化学反応装置であって、
装置を構成する容器内に流れる電流密度j[mA/cm2]、前記電解液を流す方向の前記還元触媒の長さL[cm]及び当該方向に直交する幅W[cm]、二酸化炭素(CO2)の分子量MCO2、前記電解液の二酸化炭素(CO2)の飽和溶解度p[g/L]、前記容器入口における二酸化炭素(CO2)の濃度Cin[%]及びファラデー定数F[C/mol]としたとき、前記容器への前記電解液の流入速度Qの範囲を、
(j×W×L×MCO2)/{p×F×(Cin/100-0.80)}≦Q
とすることを特徴とする化学反応装置。 - 請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の化学反応装置を含み、
太陽光エネルギーを利用して還元反応させることを特徴とする太陽光エネルギー利用システム。
