Description
従来の溶剤型2成分ポリウレタンコーティング組成物は、優れた外観を有するコーティングを提供するが、通常は、高揮発性有機化合物(VOC)含有量を含有する。水分散性イソシアネートおよび従来のエマルジョンポリマーを含む水性2成分ポリウレタン組成物は、VOC含有量を有意に低減し、適度な硬化速度を有するが、それでも溶剤型2成分ポリウレタンコーティング組成物として同様の外観(光沢および膨潤など)を有するコーティングを提供することができない。画像の明瞭さ(DOI)は、表面(例えば、コーティング表面)上での反射画像の鮮明さを測定し、反射の完全性、および表面のヘイズまたは「オレンジピール」がないことの指標である。コーティング表面は、高いDOI(例えば、74以上)を示すことが望ましい。また、ポリウレタン組成物は、高光沢、例えば、60度で85以上、および20度で75以上を有するコーティングを提供することが望ましい。加えて、例えば、紫外線(UV)光に対して耐ブリスター性を示す、露光後の良好な外観を維持するためのコーティングも必要とされる。

式中、R1は、C6-C18分岐鎖脂肪族基であり、R2は、水素、C1-C4の直鎖または分岐鎖脂肪族基、またはベンジルであり、R3およびR4は、各々独立して、水素またはC1-C6脂肪族基であるが、ただしR3およびR4が一緒に1~6個の炭素原子を含有することを条件とし、R5およびR6は、各々独立して、水素またはC1-C6脂肪族基であるが、ただしR5およびR6が一緒に1~6個の炭素原子を含有することを条件とし、xは、0~10の範囲の平均値であり、yは、5~15の範囲の平均値であり、zは、0~5の範囲の平均値であるが、ただしx+z>0を条件とし、
アルコールアルコキシレートが、アルコールアルコキシレートの重量に基づく重量基準で、25%~75%のエチレンオキシド単位を含む、水性分散液と、
(B)ポリイソシアネートと、を含む、2成分ポリウレタン組成物である。
(i)エマルジョンポリマー、およびエマルジョンポリマーの重量に基づく重量基準で、2%~20%のアルコールアルコキシレートを含む水性分散液を提供することであって、
エマルジョンポリマーが、エマルジョンポリマーの重量に基づく重量基準で、ヒドロキシ官能性アルキル(メタ)アクリレートの構造単位を15%超含み、

アルコールアルコキシレートが、アルコールアルコキシレートの重量に基づく重量基準で、25%~75%のエチレンオキシド単位を含む、提供することと、
(ii)ステップ(i)からの水性分散液をポリイソシアネートと混合することと、を含む。
R1-O-(CHR3-CHR4-O)x-(CH2CH2-O)y-(CHR5-CHR6-O)z-R2(I)
式中、R1は、C6-C18分岐鎖脂肪族基であり、好ましくは、R1は、8~18個の炭素原子、8~16個の炭素原子、8~14個の炭素原子、10~14個の炭素原子、または12~14個の炭素原子を含有し、より好ましくは、R1は、2-エチルヘキシルまたは
R2は、水素、C1-C4の直鎖または分岐鎖脂肪族基、またはベンジル、好ましくは、水素であり、
R3およびR4は、各々独立して、水素またはC1-C6脂肪族基であるが、ただしR3およびR4が一緒に1~6個の炭素原子を含有することを条件とし、好ましくは、R3およびR4は、各々独立して、水素、メチル、またはエチルであり、
R5およびR6は、各々独立して、水素またはC1-C6脂肪族基であるが、ただしR5およびR6が一緒に1~6個の炭素原子を含有することを条件とし、好ましくは、R5およびR6は、各々独立して、水素、メチル、またはエチルであり、
xは、0~10、0~8、2~7、または3~6の範囲の平均値であり、
yは、5~15、5~14、6~13、または7~12の範囲の平均値であり、
zは、0~5、0~4、0.5~3.5、または1~3の範囲の平均値であるが、
x+z>0であることを条件とする。
水性分散液中のポリマー粒子の粒径は、光子相関分光法(試料粒子の光散乱)の技術を用いるBrookhaven BI-90 Plus Particle Size Analyzerを使用して測定した。この方法では、試験される2滴の水性分散液を、20mLの0.01M塩化ナトリウム(NaCl)溶液中で希釈し、さらに、得られた混合物を試料キュベット内で希釈して、所望の計数率(K)(例えば、Kは、10~300nmの範囲の直径に関して250~500カウント/秒の範囲である)を達成することを伴った。次いで、水性ポリマー分散液の粒径を測定し、強度に基づくZ平均直径として報告した。
TgはDSCで測定した。5~10ミリグラム(mg)の試料を、窒素雰囲気下でオートサンプラーを取り付けたTA Instrument DSC Q2000上の密閉アルミニウムパンにおいて分析した。DSCによるTg測定は、-40~180℃、10℃/分(第1のサイクル、次いで5分間(分)保持して試料の熱履歴を消去する)、180~-40℃、10℃/分(第2のサイクル)、および-40~180℃、10℃/分(第3のサイクル)を含む3つのサイクルを用いた。Tgは、熱流対温度遷移における中点をTg値とすることによって、第3のサイクルから取得した。
エマルジョンポリマーのGPC分析は、一般的に、Agilent1200により実行した。試料を2mg/mLの濃度のテトラヒドロフラン(THF)/ギ酸(FA)(5%)に溶解し、次いでGPC分析の前に0.45μmのポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)フィルターで濾過した。GPC分析は、次の条件を使用して実行された。
光沢測定は、ASTM D523(1999)に従って、BYK GardenerマイクロTRI光沢計(BYK-Gardner USA,Columbia,Md.)を使用して所定の角度で実行した。試験用2成分ポリウレタン組成物は、その中のすべての配合成分を混合した直後に、150μmの湿潤厚さでアルミニウムパネル(Q-パネル A-46)上に引き降ろした。室温で20分間乾燥させた後、パネルをさらに60℃で40分間乾燥させ、次いで光沢を測定した。3つの別々の読み取り値の平均を報告した。許容可能な光沢は、60°で85以上および20°で75以上である。
鉛筆硬度試験は、鋼基材(Q-パネルR-46)上でASTM D3363(2011)に従って行った。試験用2成分ポリウレタン組成物は、アルミニウムパネル(Qパネル A-46)上に150μmの湿潤厚さで引き降ろし、室温で20分間、さらに60℃で40分間、および最後に室温で7日間乾燥させた。得られたコーティングされたパネルを鉛筆硬度試験に使用した。鉛筆がフィルムに切り込みを入れ、または削り取らなかったときの鉛筆の芯の硬度を記録した。H以上の硬度が許容可能である。
DOI測定は、BYK Gardenerマイクロ波スキャンメーター(BYK-Gardner USA,Columbia,Md.)を使用して、ASTM D5767-95(2004)(コーティング表面の画像の明瞭さ光沢の機器測定のための標準試験法(Standard Test Methods for Instrumental Measurement of Distinctness-of-Image Gloss of Coating Surfaces))に従って実行した。2成分ポリウレタン組成物は、その中のすべての配合成分を混合した直後に、200μmの湿潤厚さでアルミニウムパネル(Q-パネル A-36)上に引き降ろした。室温で20分間乾燥させた後、パネルをさらに60℃で40分間乾燥させた。各パネルについては、3つの別々の読み取り値の平均をDOI値について記録した。DOIが高いほど、より良好である。コーティングのDOIが低すぎて測定することができない場合、BYK Gardenerマイクロ波スキャンメーターの読み取り値は、「測定不可、くすみ>55」と示され、以下の表4に「測定不可」として記録する。そのようなコーティング中で反射した物体を見ると、画像がぼやけ、歪む。
試験用塗料配合物を塗布器を使用してアルミニウムパネル上に塗布して、200μmの湿潤フィルムを形成した。次いで、試験パネルを恒温室(CTR、23±2℃;(45~65%)±10%の相対湿度)内で1週間乾燥させ、QUVラックに適合する76mm*229mm(3インチ*9インチのサイズに切断した。開始時間を記録した。試験パネルをQUV装置(Q-Lab Corporation製のQUV/Se QUV促進耐候性試験機、313nmの光源UVB、および0.77w/m2放射強度)に入れ、試験領域を内側に向けた。1サイクルのQUVは、60℃で4時間のUV照射に続いて、50℃で4時間の水噴霧で構成されていた。QUV装置内での合計250時間の複数のサイクルの後、すべてのパネルをQUV装置から取り外した。これらのパネルを室温で乾燥させ、塗料パネルのブリスター度を肉眼で観察し、ブリスターのサイズによって以下のように格付けした、
5:ブリスターなし;4:0.2mmよりも小さい直径(D)を有するブリスター;3:0.2≦D<0.3mmを有するブリスター;2:0.3≦D<0.5mmを有するブリスター;および1:0.5≦D<0.7mmを有するブリスター。
固形分は、0.7±0.1gの試料(試料の湿重量を「W1」と表記する)を量り、150℃のオーブン内のアルミニウム鍋(アルミニウム鍋の重さを「W2」と表記する)に25分間入れ、次いで、乾燥した試料を有するアルミニウム鍋を冷却し、「W3」と表記する総重量を量ることによって測定した。試料の固形分は、(W3-W2)/W1*100%で計算する。
モノマーエマルジョンは、318グラム(g)の脱イオン(DI)水、(23g)のFes993界面活性剤(30%)、MMA(149g)、ST(306g)、EHA(176g)、HEMA(304g)、AAEM(51g)、MAA(16g)、PEM(16g)、およびn-DDM(21g)を混合することによって調製した。
モノマーエマルジョンは、DI水(271g)、Fes993界面活性剤(30%)(40.4g)、MMA(144g)、ST(281g)、EHA(161g)、HEMA(278g)、AAEM(46g)、AA(12g)、PEM(7g)、およびn-DDM(37g)を混合することによって調製した。
PD3は、モノマーエマルジョンがDI水(271g)、Fes993界面活性剤(30%)(40.4g)、MMA(144g)、ST(281g)、EHA(161g)、HEMA(278g)、AAEM(46g)、AA(12g)、PEM(7g)、およびn-DDM(9g)を混合することによって調製したことを除いて、PD2と同様に調製した。
PD4は、モノマーエマルジョンがDI水(271g)、Fes993界面活性剤(30%)(40.4g)、MMA(146g)、ST(363g)、EHA(78g)、HEMA(278g)、AAEM(46g)、AA(12g)、PEM(7g)、およびn-DDM(19g)を混合することによって調製したことを除いて、PD2と同様に調製した。
PD5は、モノマーエマルジョンがDI水(271g)、Fes993界面活性剤(30%)(40.4g)、MMA(31g)、ST(282g)、EHA(275g)、HEMA(278g)、AAEM(46g)、AA(12g)、PEM(7g)、およびn-DDM(19g)を混合することによって調製したことを除いて、PD2と同様に調製した。
実施例1~5、ならびに比較例A~DおよびF~Kは、表3に示す配合に基づいて調製した。各塗料配合物中のNCO基のヒドロキシ(OH)基に対するモル比は、1.2:1であった。高速Cowles分散機を使用して、粉砕物を調製するための配合成分を毎分1,500回転(rpm)で30分間混合して、粉砕物を形成した。次いで、希釈物(letdown)中の配合成分を、従来の実験室ミキサーを使用して粉砕物に添加して、パートAを得た。各塗料配合物のパートAを一晩放置し、次いで600rpmで10分間高速分散機を使用してパートBをパートAに添加して、塗料配合物を形成した。
実施例6は、希釈段階で使用したアルコールアルコキシレートおよび脱イオン水の量がそれぞれ1.6gおよび3.81gであったことを除いて、実施例1と同様に調製した。
実施例7は、希釈段階で使用したアルコールアルコキシレートおよび脱イオン水の量がそれぞれ1.2gおよび4.21gであったことを除いて、実施例1と同様に調製した。
実施例8は、希釈段階で使用したアルコールアルコキシレートおよび脱イオン水の量がそれぞれ1gおよび4.41gであったことを除いて、実施例1と同様に調製した。
実施例9は、希釈段階で使用したアルコールアルコキシレートおよび脱イオン水の量がそれぞれ0.5gおよび4.91gであったことを除いて、実施例1と同様に調製した。
比較例Eは、希釈段階で使用したDI水の量が5.41グラムであり、アルコールアルコキシレートを使用しなかったことを除いて、実施例1と同様に調製した。
比較例Lは、アルコールアルコキシレートとしてPAO16を使用し、希釈段階で使用したPAO16およびDI水の量がそれぞれ1gおよび4.41gであったことを除いて、実施例1と同様に調製した。
Claims (10)
- 2成分ポリウレタン組成物であって、
(A)エマルジョンポリマー、および前記エマルジョンポリマーの重量に基づく重量基準で、2%~20%のアルコールアルコキシレートを含む水性分散液であって、
前記エマルジョンポリマーが、前記エマルジョンポリマーの重量に基づく重量基準で、ヒドロキシ官能性アルキル(メタ)アクリレートの構造単位を15%超含み、
1,000g/モル以下の分子量を有する前記アルコールアルコキシレートが、式(I)を有し、
R1-O-(CHR3-CHR4-O)x-(CH2CH2-O)y-(CHR5-CHR6-O)z-R2
式中、R1は、C 8 -C 14 分岐鎖脂肪族基であり、R2は、水素、C1-C4の直鎖または分岐鎖脂肪族基、またはベンジルであり、R3およびR4は、各々独立して、水素またはC1-C6脂肪族基であるが、ただしR3およびR4が合計で1~6個の炭素原子を含有することを条件とし、R5およびR6は、各々独立して、水素またはC1-C6脂肪族基であるが、ただしR5およびR6が合計で1~6個の炭素原子を含有することを条件とし、xは、0~10の範囲の平均値であり、yは、5~15の範囲の平均値であり、zは、0~5の範囲の平均値であるが、ただしx+z>0を条件とし、

前記アルコールアルコキシレートが、前記アルコールアルコキシレートの重量に基づく重量基準で、35%~60%の前記エチレンオキシド単位を含む、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン組成物。 - 式(I)において、R5およびR6が、異なり、各々独立して、水素またはエチルであり、xが、0であり、yが、7~14であり、zが、1~2であり、
前記アルコールアルコキシレートが、前記アルコールアルコキシレートの重量に基づく重量基準で、45%~68%の前記エチレンオキシド単位を含む、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン組成物。 - 前記ポリイソシアネートが、脂肪族ジイソシアネート、そのダイマーおよびトリマー、またはそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン組成物。
- 前記アルコールアルコキシレートが、400~900g/モルの分子量を有する、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン組成物。
- 前記ヒドロキシ官能性アルキル(メタ)アクリレートが、2-ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート、2-ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート、2-ヒドロキシプロピルアクリレート、2-ヒドロキシプロピルメタクリレート、またはそれらの混合物からなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン組成物。
- 前記エマルジョンポリマーが、50,000g/モル以下の重量平均分子量を有する、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン組成物。
- 前記エマルジョンポリマーが、10~80℃のガラス転移温度を有する、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン組成物。
- 請求項1~9のいずれか1項に記載の2成分ポリウレタン組成物を調製するプロセスであって、
前記水性分散液を前記ポリイソシアネートと混合することを含む、プロセス。
