本出願は、本明細書に引用によって組み込まれる、2013年3月7日に出願された米国仮出願の出願番号61/774144の同時係属の利益を請求する。
前述の酸性層化および酸化の問題を解決する新規なセパレータ(例えば、鉛/酸蓄電池のために)の必要性がある。
微多孔質膜は、従来のいずれの方法によっても製造されることができる。例えば、PE微多孔質膜で、ゴムと処理油を混合してもよくて、押出の間にPEを混合してもよい。
図(グラフ)1~5は従来のガラスマットを有するセパレータと拡散性マット(DM)を有する本発明のセパレータと比較である。セパレータは同じであるが、1つのセパレータはDMを有し、他のセパレータは従来のガラスマットを有する。これらのグラフに示される情報は、包囲された陽極板(図1~2)または包囲された陰極板(図3~5)を有する12V150Ah電池(≒放電の深度100%、DoD)を使用し、従来のインバータ電池シミュレーションation使用して、10.50V、43Aで1時間54分間放電し、続いて13.80V、15Aで10時間6分間再充電出して、作成された。

Claims (17)
- 微多孔質膜と、前記微多孔質膜に貼付される拡散マットと、を含み、
前記拡散マットは、1.280の比重を有する硫酸に浸漬して3時間の灯心試験により2.5cm~10.0cmの高さを有することにより定義される電解質灯心能力を有し、厚みが0.2mmを超え、および坪量が35gsmを超え、
前記微多孔質膜は、ゴムと共に充填された、ポリオレフィン樹脂、ポリビニルクロライド樹脂、またはフェノール-ホルムアルデヒド樹脂の微多孔質シートを含み、
前記拡散マットは、ガラスマットを有する鉛蓄電池に比較して、前記電解質の灯心能力により電池電極のドライアウトを防ぎ、前記電解質灯心能力から得られる改良された拡散特性によって酸性層化を防止することにより鉛蓄電池特性を改良する、液式鉛蓄電池のセパレータ。 - 前記拡散マットは、合成繊維、ガラス繊維、またはその組合せからなる請求項1に記載のセパレータ。

前記微孔性シートに取り付けられた拡散マットであって、1.280の比重を有する硫酸に浸漬して3時間の灯心試験により2.5cm~10.0cmの高さを有し、0.2mmを超える厚さを有し、及び/又は35gsmより大きい坪量を有する拡散マットと、を含み、
前記拡散マットは、ガラスマットを備えた同等のフラッド鉛蓄電池と比較した場合、電解質ウィッキングを通じてバッテリーの電極が乾燥するのを防ぎ、電解質ウィッキングから得られる拡散特性の向上により酸の成層化から保護することにより、フラッディング鉛蓄電池の性能を向上させる、液式電池セパレータ。 - 前記拡散マットは、合成繊維、ガラス繊維、またはその組合せからなる請求項9に記載のセパレータ。
- 前記拡散マットはシリカを含む請求項9に記載のセパレータ。
- 前記微多孔質膜はゴムが充填されている請求項9に記載のセパレータ。
- 前記ゴムは前記セパレータ中に12重量%以下含まれる請求項12に記載のセパレータ。
- 請求項9に記載のセパレータを有する、液式電池。
- 前記拡散マットは、12mΩcm2以上の電気抵抗を有する請求項9に記載のセパレータ。
- 前記拡散マットは0.5mm以下の厚さを有する請求項9に記載のセパレータ。
- 鉛蓄電池用の液式電池セパレータであって、
1.280の比重を有する硫酸に浸漬して3時間の灯心試験により2.5cm~10.0cmの高さを有し、0.2mmを超える厚さを有し、及び/又は35gsmより大きい坪量を有する拡散マットを含み、
前記拡散マットは、ガラスマットを備えた同等のフラッド鉛蓄電池と比較した場合、電解質ウィッキングを通じてバッテリーの電極が乾燥するのを防ぎ、電解質ウィッキングから得られる拡散特性の向上により酸の成層化から保護することにより、フラッディング鉛蓄電池の性能を向上させる、液式電池セパレータ。
