Description
本発明は二次電池を提供する。本明細書中、「二次電池」という用語は充電・放電の繰り返しが可能な電池のことを指している。「二次電池」は、その名称に過度に拘泥されるものではなく、例えば、「蓄電デバイス」などの電気化学デバイスも包含し得る。
本発明に係る二次電池は、電極組立体、およびそれを収容する外装体を有して成る電池であるところ、電極組立体から突出する集電タブの形態およびかかる集電タブ周辺における部材間の位置関係の点で特徴を有する。
本発明に係る二次電池は、以下の工程を含む製造方法により、製造することができる。つまり、本発明に係る二次電池の製造方法は、正極、負極および該正極と該負極との間に配置されたセパレータを積層または巻回し、電極組立体の前駆体を得る工程(電極の組立工程)、ならびに電極組立体およびスペーサを外装体に収容させつつ、電極組立体とスペーサとの間で屈曲形状を成すように集電タブを形成し、外装体内に電解質を注入する工程(収容工程)を含む。
本工程においては、図8に示すように、正極1、負極2および矩形状を有するセパレータ3を所定の順序で配置して積層または巻回することで電極組立体の前駆体を得る。図9Aに示すように、電極組立体の前駆体は、正極1、負極2およびセパレータ3を厚み方向に積層した平面積層型電極組立体200(図1A参照)としてよい。または図9Bのように、電極組立体の前駆体は、正極1、負極2およびセパレータ3を巻回して巻回型電極組立体200(図1B参照)としてもよい。以下では、巻回型電極組立体の組立工程について説明する。
先の工程において得られた電極組立体200およびスペーサ4を外装体300に収容させつつ、集電タブ61および62を電極端子5に溶着し、外装体300内に注入口7を介して電解質を注入する(図2参照)。以下、外装体300が外装体本体部310および外装体蓋部320から構成され、外装体300の1の面に電極端子5および電極端子構造体5’が設けられている場合について詳細に説明する。

Claims (17)
- 正極、負極および該正極と該負極との間に配置されたセパレータを含む電極組立体ならびに電解質が外装体に封入された二次電池であって、
前記電極組立体と前記外装体との間に位置付けられるスペーサを有して成り、
前記電極組立体が、該電極組立体における同一の端面から突出する正極および負極の集電タブを有して成り、
前記スペーサが、前記電極組立体における集電タブが突出する端面と外装体との間に位置付けられ、
前記電極組立体と前記スペーサとの間で、前記正極および負極の集電タブの少なくとも一方が屈曲形状を成しており、
前記集電タブは、前記スペーサの主面の両側に跨がるように前記電極組立体側の面から外装体側の面まで延在している、二次電池。 - 前記屈曲形状が弓状に曲がる湾曲形状である、請求項1に記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体と前記スペーサとの間の離隔空間において前記集電タブが前記屈曲形状に起因して断面視で蛇行するように延在している、請求項1または2に記載の二次電池。
- 前記集電タブの前記屈曲形状を成す部分が前記スペーサと接している、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記スペーサの対向する両主面にそれぞれ接するように前記集電タブが延在している、請求項1に記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体と前記スペーサとの間において、前記集電タブが前記スペーサに接すると共に、前記セパレータにも接している、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記集電タブの前記屈曲形状を成す部分が少なくとも2つ設けられており、該集電タブの一方の屈曲部分が前記スペーサと接し、該集電タブの他方の屈曲部分が前記セパレータと接している、請求項6に記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体は、前記集電タブが突出する端面において、前記セパレータが前記正極および前記負極よりも外側に延在しているセパレータ延在部を有し、前記集電タブの前記屈曲形状を成す部分が前記セパレータ延在部と接している、請求項1~7のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体は、前記正極、前記負極および前記セパレータが巻回されている巻回型電極組立体である、請求項1~8のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記セパレータ延在部の少なくとも一部が、前記巻回の外周側に凸な屈曲形状を成している、請求項8に従属する請求項9に記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極組立体は、前記セパレータ延在部が集束して成る集束部分を有しており、前記集電タブの前記屈曲形状を成す部分が前記集束部分と接している、請求項8に従属する請求項9または10に記載の二次電池。
- 前記集電タブにおいて少なくとも前記屈曲形状を成す部分に絶縁材が設けられている、請求項1~11のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記集電タブは、前記電極組立体と前記スペーサとの離隔空間で該電極組立体の前記セパレータと該スペーサに接しつつ蛇行して延在すると共に、当該スペーサを超えてより外側へと延在している、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記外装体は、正極端子および負極端子のいずれか一方の電極端子構造体をさらに有して成り、前記集電タブの一部が、前記スペーサと前記電極端子構造体との間に位置付けられる、請求項13に記載の二次電池。
- 前記外装体は、導電性ハードケース型外装体であり、前記電極端子構造体と異極の電荷を帯びている、請求項14に記載の二次電池。
- 前記正極および前記負極がリチウムイオンを吸蔵放出可能となっている、請求項1~15のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- モバイル機器用途に用いられる、請求項1~16のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
