Description
前記ハニカム構造部は、前記セルの延びる方向に直交する面において、
前記ハニカム構造部の外周に形成された外周セル構造と、前記外周セル構造よりも内側の中央部分に形成され、前記外周セル構造とは異なるセル構造の中央セル構造と、前記外周セル構造と前記中央セル構造との境界部分に配設された境界壁と、を有し、
前記ハニカム構造部は、前記隔壁の厚さT01が、前記外周セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT00よりも厚くなる外周強化領域を含むとともに、
前記隔壁の厚さT11が、前記外周セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT00よりも厚くなる第一境界強化領域、及び、前記隔壁の厚さT21が、前記中央セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT20よりも厚くなる第二境界強化領域、のうちの少なくとも一方の領域を含み、
前記外周強化領域は、前記ハニカム構造部の前記セルの延びる方向に直交する面において、当該面の重心Oを起点とした距離L0の範囲を除く範囲に存在し、
前記第一境界強化領域は、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L1の範囲であり、かつ、前記外周セル構造の範囲に存在し、
前記第二境界強化領域は、前記中央セル構造の範囲のうち、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L2の範囲を除く範囲に存在し、前記外周強化領域における前記隔壁の厚さT01(mm)と、前記外周セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT00(mm)とが、下記式(2)の関係を満たす、ハニカム構造体。

前記重心Oから前記外周壁まで延びる仮想直線上の、前記重心Oから前記外周壁の外側までの距離を距離r0とし、前記仮想直線上の、前記重心Oから前記境界壁の外側までの距離を距離r1とし、
前記ハニカム構造部が、下記式(1)の関係を満たす、前記[1]に記載のハニカム構造体。

式(4):T20+0.0127<T21<T20+0.0381
それぞれの前記中央境界壁から外側の領域であり、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L’nの範囲において、前記隔壁の厚さT’n1が、当該隔壁を含むセル構造における基本隔壁厚さT’n0よりも厚くなる中央外側境界強化領域、及び、それぞれの前記中央境界壁から内側の領域であり、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L’’mの範囲を除く範囲において、前記隔壁の厚さT’’m1が、当該隔壁を含むセル構造における基本隔壁厚さT’’m0よりも厚くなる中央内側境界強化領域、のうちの少なくとも一方の領域を含む、前記[1]~[4]のいずれかに記載のハニカム構造体。
前記ハニカム構造部が、下記式(5)の関係を満たす、前記[5]に記載のハニカム構造体。

本発明のハニカム構造体の一の実施形態は、図1~図6に示すようなハニカム構造体100である。このハニカム構造体100は、多孔質の隔壁1、及びこの隔壁1の外周を囲繞するように配設された外周壁3を有する、柱状のハニカム構造部4を備えたものである。ハニカム構造部4の隔壁1は、流入端面11から流出端面12まで延びる流体の流路となる複数のセル2を区画形成するものである。
(b)隔壁1の厚さT11が、外周セル構造16における基本隔壁厚さT00よりも厚くなる、第一境界強化領域Bを含む。
(c)隔壁1の厚さT21が、中央セル構造15における基本隔壁厚さT20よりも厚くなる、第二境界強化領域Cを含む。
次に、本発明のハニカム構造体を製造する方法について説明する。
(b’)隔壁1の厚さT11が、外周セル構造16における基本隔壁厚さT00よりも厚くなる、第一境界強化領域を含む(例えば、図6参照)。
(c’)隔壁1の厚さT21が、中央セル構造15における基本隔壁厚さT20よりも厚くなる、第二境界強化領域を含む(例えば、図6参照)。
限定されるものではない。
コージェライト化原料100質量部に、分散媒を35質量部、有機バインダを6質量部、分散剤を0.5質量部、それぞれ添加し、混合、混練して坏土を調製した。コージェライト化原料としては、アルミナ、水酸化アルミニウム、カオリン、タルク、及びシリカを使用した。分散媒としては水を使用し、造孔材としては平均粒子径1~10μmのコークスを使用し、有機バインダとしてはヒドロキシプロピルメチルセルロースを使用し、分散剤としてはエチレングリコールを使用した。
アイソスタティック(Isostatic)強度の測定は、社団法人自動車技術会発行の自動車規格(JASO規格)のM505-87で規定されているアイソスタティック破壊強度試験に基づいて行った。アイソスタティック破壊強度試験は、ゴムの筒状容器に、ハニカム構造体を入れてアルミ製板で蓋をし、水中で等方加圧圧縮を行う試験である。すなわち、アイソスタティック破壊強度試験は、缶体に、ハニカム構造体が外周面把持される場合の圧縮負荷加重を模擬した試験である。このアイソスタティック破壊強度試験によって測定されるアイソスタティック強度は、ハニカム構造体が破壊したときの加圧圧力値(MPa)で示される。本実施例におけるアイソスタティック強度評価における判定基準は、以下の通りである。
評価A:比較例1に対しアイソスタティック強度が100%以上向上。
評価B:比較例1に対しアイソスタティック強度が75%以上、100%未満向上。
評価C:比較例1に対しアイソスタティック強度が50%以上、75%未満向上。
評価D:比較例1に対しアイソスタティック強度が25%以上、50%未満向上。
評価E:比較例1に対しアイソスタティック強度の向上が見られない。
ハニカム構造体の質量を測定し、以下の判定基準により評価を行った。
評価A:比較例1に対し質量増加が5%未満。
評価B:比較例1に対し質量増加が5%以上、10%未満。
評価C:比較例1に対し質量増加が10%以上。
以下の評価基準により、総合評価を行った。
評価A:アイソスタティック強度評価がAであり、且つ質量評価がA又はBの場合。
評価B:アイソスタティック強度評価がAであり、且つ質量評価がCの場合、又はアイソスタティック強度評価がBであり、且つ質量評価がA若しくはBの場合。
評価C:アイソスタティック強度評価がBであり、且つ質量評価がCの場合、又はアイソスタティック強度評価がCであり、且つ質量評価がB若しくはCの場合、又はアイソスタティック強度評価がDであり、且つ質量評価がA若しくはBの場合。
評価D:アイソスタティック強度評価がDであり、且つ質量評価がCの場合、又はアイソスタティック強度評価がEの場合。
距離L0、及び、隔壁の厚さT00,T01,T11,T20,T21を、表1~表4に示すように変更した以外は、参考例1と同様の方法で、ハニカム構造体を作製した。実施例20~26のハニカム構造体は、隔壁の厚さT21が、中央セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT20よりも厚くなる第二境界強化領域を含むものであった。
実施例及び参考例1~26のハニカム構造体は、「アイソスタティック強度評価」、及び「質量評価」の双方の評価において良好な結果を得ることができた。また、各強化領域において、その強化領域における基本隔壁厚さよりも隔壁の厚さが厚くなるほど、アイソスタティック強度の向上が見られた。ただし、隔壁の厚さが厚くなるほど、質量評価の評価結果が低下する傾向が見られた。比較例1のハニカム構造体は、アイソスタティック強度評価の評価結果が極めて低いものであった。
Claims (9)
- 流入端面から流出端面まで延びる流体の流路となる複数のセルを区画形成する多孔質の隔壁、及び前記隔壁の外周を囲繞するように配設された外周壁を有する、柱状のハニカム構造部を備え、
前記ハニカム構造部は、前記セルの延びる方向に直交する面において、
前記ハニカム構造部の外周に形成された外周セル構造と、前記外周セル構造よりも内側の中央部分に形成され、前記外周セル構造とは異なるセル構造の中央セル構造と、前記外周セル構造と前記中央セル構造との境界部分に配設された境界壁と、を有し、
前記ハニカム構造部は、前記隔壁の厚さT01が、前記外周セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT00よりも厚くなる外周強化領域を含むとともに、
前記隔壁の厚さT11が、前記外周セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT00よりも厚くなる第一境界強化領域、及び、前記隔壁の厚さT21が、前記中央セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT20よりも厚くなる第二境界強化領域、のうちの少なくとも一方の領域を含み、
前記外周強化領域は、前記ハニカム構造部の前記セルの延びる方向に直交する面において、当該面の重心Oを起点とした距離L0の範囲を除く範囲に存在し、
前記第一境界強化領域は、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L1の範囲であり、かつ、前記外周セル構造の範囲に存在し、
前記第二境界強化領域は、前記中央セル構造の範囲のうち、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L2の範囲を除く範囲に存在し、前記外周強化領域における前記隔壁の厚さT01(mm)と、前記外周セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT00(mm)とが、下記式(2)の関係を満たす、ハニカム構造体。
式(2):T00+0.0127<T01<T00+0.0381 - 前記ハニカム構造部の前記セルの延びる方向に直交する面において、
前記重心Oから前記外周壁まで延びる仮想直線上の、前記重心Oから前記外周壁の外側までの距離を距離r0とし、前記仮想直線上の、前記重心Oから前記境界壁の外側までの距離を距離r1とし、
前記ハニカム構造部が、下記式(1)の関係を満たす、請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。
式(1):0.5>(r0-L0)/(r0-r1)>0.1 - 前記第一境界強化領域における前記隔壁の厚さT11(mm)と、前記外周セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT00(mm)とが、下記式(3)の関係を満たす、請求項1又は2に記載のハニカム構造体。
式(3):T00+0.0127<T11<T00+0.0381 - 前記第二境界強化領域における前記隔壁の厚さT21(mm)と、前記中央セル構造における基本隔壁厚さT20(mm)とが、下記式(4)の関係を満たす、請求項1~3のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
式(4):T20+0.0127<T21<T20+0.0381 - 前記中央セル構造を2つ以上有し、当該2つ以上の前記中央セル構造の境界部分には、それぞれ中央境界壁を有し、
それぞれの前記中央境界壁から外側の領域であり、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L’nの範囲において、前記隔壁の厚さT’n1が、当該隔壁を含むセル構造における基本隔壁厚さT’n0よりも厚くなる中央外側境界強化領域、及び、それぞれの前記中央境界壁から内側の領域であり、前記重心Oを起点とした距離L’’mの範囲を除く範囲において、前記隔壁の厚さT’’m1が、当該隔壁を含むセル構造における基本隔壁厚さT’’m0よりも厚くなる中央内側境界強化領域、のうちの少なくとも一方の領域を含む、請求項1~4のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。 - 前記ハニカム構造部の前記セルの延びる方向に直交する面において、当該面の重心Oから前記外周壁の外側までの距離を距離r0とし、前記重心Oからそれぞれの前記中央境界壁までの距離を距離r’nとし、
前記ハニカム構造部が、下記式(5)の関係を満たす、請求項5に記載のハニカム構造体。
式(5):0.5>(r0-L0)/(r0-r’n)>0.1 - 前記中央外側境界強化領域における前記隔壁の厚さT’n1(mm)と、当該隔壁を含むセル構造における基本隔壁厚さT’n0(mm)とが、下記式(6)の関係を満たす、請求項5又は6に記載のハニカム構造体。
式(6):T’n0+0.0127<T’n1<T’n0+0.0381 - 前記中央内側境界強化領域における前記隔壁の厚さT’’m1(mm)と、当該隔壁を含むセル構造における基本隔壁厚さT’’m0(mm)とが、下記式(7)の関係を満たす、請求項5~7のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
式(7):T’’m0+0.0127<T’’m1<T’’m0+0.0381 - 前記中央セル構造における前記セルの繰り返し単位の配列方向が、前記外周セル構造における前記セルの繰り返し単位の配列方向に対して、10°以上、45°以下傾いている、請求項1~8のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
