コリメートされた光を無限遠に合焦させるためのマイクロレンズアレイを備え、マイクロレンズアレイは複数のレンズレットを含み、レンズレットの各々はモノリシックコリメータアレイのコリメータチャネルに対して位置合わせされ、
LEDバックライトはさらに、
マイクロレンズアレイからの光をディスプレイパネル上に合焦させるためのリレーレンズを備える。
(b)少なくとも1つのコリメータチャネルに対して位置合わせされており、少なくとも1つのコリメータチャネルの各々の中心軸は、レンズレットの中心軸に対してずれて配置されている、または、

Claims (18)
- ディスプレイパネルに使用するためのLEDバックライトであって、
表面を有し、かつ前記表面から光を放出するための複数のLEDを含むモノリシックLEDアレイと、
複数のコリメータチャネルを含み、かつ前記コリメータチャネルの各々が前記複数のLEDのうち少なくとも1つに対して位置合わせされるように位置合わせされたモノリシックコリメータアレイとを備え、前記コリメータチャネルは、前記LEDから放出された放出光を、前記LEDアレイの前記表面に対して略直交する線に対して約±50°以内の範囲の角度にコリメートするように構成されており、
前記LEDバックライトはさらに、
前記コリメートされた光を無限遠に合焦させるためのマイクロレンズアレイを備え、前記マイクロレンズアレイは複数のレンズレットを含み、前記レンズレットの各々は、前記モノリシックコリメータアレイの一つのコリメータチャネルに対して位置合わせされ、
前記LEDバックライトはさらに、
前記マイクロレンズアレイからの光をディスプレイパネル上に合焦させるためのリレーレンズを備え、
前記マイクロレンズのレンズレットの各々は、少なくとも1つのコリメータチャネルに対して位置合わせされており、
前記少なくとも1つのコリメータチャネルの各々の中心軸は、前記レンズレットの中心軸に対してずれて配置されている、LEDバックライト。 - 前記コリメータチャネルの各々は、好ましくは赤色LED、緑色LED、青色LEDまたは白色LEDである単一のLEDに対して位置合わせされている、請求項1に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 前記マイクロレンズアレイの前記レンズレットの各々は、
(a)単一のコリメータチャネルに対して位置合わせされており、前記コリメータチャネルの中心軸と前記レンズレットの中心軸とは位置合わせされている、または、
(b)少なくとも1つのコリメータチャネルに対して位置合わせされており、前記少なくとも1つのコリメータチャネルの各々の中心軸は、前記レンズレットの中心軸に対してずれて配置されている、または、
(c)(a)および(b)の組合せである、請求項1または2に記載のLEDバックライト。 - 前記モノリシックコリメータアレイは、コリメータチャネルの第1サブアレイおよび第2サブアレイを少なくとも含み、
前記第1サブアレイのコリメータチャネルの各々は、対応する前記レンズレットの前記中心軸に対して等しくずれて配置されており、
前記第2サブアレイのコリメータチャネルの各々は、対応する前記レンズレットの前記中心軸に対して等しくずれて配置されており、
前記第1サブアレイまたは前記第2サブアレイに対して位置合わせされたLEDが選択的に作動することでディスプレイパネルの同一ではない部分を照らす、請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。 - 前記モノリシックLEDアレイおよび前記モノリシックコリメータアレイは、一体的に形成された、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 前記LEDアレイは、マイクロLEDアレイである、請求項1から5のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 前記コリメータチャネルは、約±40°以内の範囲の角度、好ましくは約±30°以内の範囲の角度、好ましくは約±20°の以内の範囲の角度に前記LEDからの放出光をコリメートするように構成されている、請求項1から6のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 前記モノリシックコリメータは、100μm以上2000μm以下の深さを有する、請求項1から7のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 前記モノリシックコリメータのチャネルの各々は、内表面を有しており、
前記内表面は、20nm以下の表面粗さ(Sq)を有しており、かつ/または、前記内表面は、その上に反射層を有している、請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。 - 前記内表面は、PVD蒸着された銀等の金属コーティングである反射コーティングを有している、請求項9に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 前記モノリシックコリメータは、射出成形によって形成された、請求項1から10のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 前記モノリシックコリメータは、ナノリソグラフィーを用いて作られた、請求項1から11のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 偏光板をさらに備えた、請求項1~12のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライト。
- 請求項1~13のいずれか1項に記載の前記LEDバックライトと、
ディスプレイパネルとを備えた、デジタルライトプロジェクター。 - 前記ディスプレイパネルは、前記LEDバックライトからの略全ての光が前記ディスプレイ上に入射するように前記リレーレンズから離れて配置されている、請求項14に記載のデジタルライトプロジェクター。
- 請求項1~13のいずれか1項に記載のLEDバックライトを形成するためのLED照明装置であって、
表面を有し、かつ前記表面から光を放出するための複数のLEDを含むモノリシックLEDアレイと、
複数のコリメータチャネルを含み、かつ前記コリメータチャネルの各々が前記複数のLEDのうち少なくとも1つに対して位置合わせされるように位置合わせされたモノリシックコリメータアレイとを備え、前記コリメータチャネルは、前記LEDから放出された放出光を前記LEDアレイの前記表面に対して略直交する線に対して約±50°以内の範囲の角度にコリメートするように構成されており、
前記LED照明装置はさらに、
前記コリメートされた光を無限遠に合焦させるためのマイクロレンズアレイを備え、前記マイクロレンズアレイは複数のレンズレットを含み、前記レンズレットの各々は前記モノリシックコリメータアレイのコリメータチャネルに対して位置合わせされた、LED照明装置。 - 偏光板をさらに備えた、請求項16に記載のLED照明装置。
