Claims (10)
- 色を表現するインクである有色インクを媒体に定着させる液体である定着剤の使用量を設定する定着剤量の設定方法であって、
単位面積に対して前記定着剤を吐出する量である定着剤濃度について、単位面積に対して前記有色インクを吐出する量である有色インク濃度に対応付けて、
前記有色インク濃度に対して前記媒体上で滲みが発生しない最小の前記定着剤濃度に対応する前記定着剤濃度の下限値以上であり、
かつ、前記媒体上で色ムラが発生しない最大の前記定着剤濃度に対応する前記定着剤濃度の上限値以下の値に設定し、
前記定着剤濃度を前記上限値以下の値に設定することで、前記定着剤濃度が設定される範囲の中で最大になる前記定着剤濃度でも、印刷の解像度に応じたドット間距離よりも大きな範囲にわたって前記定着剤が連続的に前記媒体を覆わないように、前記定着剤濃度を設定することを特徴とする定着剤量の設定方法。 - 印刷時に使用するのと同じ種類の前記媒体に対して予め印刷を行い、
前記媒体上で色ムラが発生する前記定着剤濃度を確認することにより、前記有色インク濃度に対応付けて前記定着剤濃度を設定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の定着剤量の設定方法。 - 前記定着剤濃度を複数段階で異ならせるように予め設定されたテストパターンを用いて前記媒体に印刷を行い、
前記複数段階の前記定着剤濃度のうち、前記媒体上で滲みが発生しない最小の前記定着剤濃度に基づき、前記定着剤濃度の前記下限値を設定し、
前記複数段階の前記定着剤濃度のうち、前記媒体上で色ムラが発生しない最大の前記定着剤濃度に基づき、前記定着剤濃度の前記上限値を設定することを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の定着剤量の設定方法。 - 前記テストパターンとして、前記有色インク濃度を複数段階で更に異ならせたパターンを用い、
それぞれの前記有色インク濃度に対し、前記媒体上で滲みが発生しない最小の前記定着剤濃度と、前記媒体上で色ムラが発生しない最大の前記定着剤濃度とを確認することにより、前記有色インク濃度に対応付けて、前記定着剤濃度の前記上限値及び前記下限値を設定することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の定着剤量の設定方法。 - 前記定着剤は、媒体への着弾後に揮発除去される溶媒を含み、
前記上限値は、前記定着剤濃度を前記上限値以下にすることで、前記定着剤中の前記溶媒が揮発除去されるまでの間に前記有色インクが前記溶媒に流されて移動しない値であることを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の定着剤量の設定方法。 - 前記有色インクは、樹脂を含むインクであり、
前記定着剤は、前記有色インク中の前記樹脂を凝集させることにより、前記有色インクを前記媒体に定着させることを特徴とする請求項1から5のいずれかに記載の定着剤量の設定方法。 - 前記有色インクは、ラテックスインクであることを特徴とする請求項1から6のいずれかに記載の定着剤量の設定方法。
- 前記有色インク濃度の増大に応じて前記定着剤濃度が大きくなるように、前記定着剤濃度を設定することを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれかに記載の定着剤量の設定方法。
- 前記媒体への印刷時の印刷結果に基づいて前記定着剤濃度の調整を行い、
前記媒体への印刷時に滲みが発生した場合に前記定着剤濃度の量を多くし、
前記媒体への印刷時に色ムラが発生した場合に前記定着剤濃度の量を少なくすることにより、印刷に使用する前記媒体に合わせて前記定着剤濃度を設定することを特徴とする請求項1から8のいずれかに記載の定着剤量の設定方法。 - 印刷の条件毎に、前記有色インク濃度に対応付けて、前記定着剤濃度を設定し、
前記有色インク濃度に対応付けて前記定着剤濃度を設定する前記印刷の条件として、少なくとも、他のインクの層の上に前記有色インクを吐出する多層印刷を行う前記印刷の条件と、前記媒体上に前記有色インクが直接着弾する前記印刷の条件とを用い、
前記多層印刷を行う前記印刷の条件での前記有色インク濃度に対応付けた前記定着剤濃度の設定の仕方を、前記媒体上に前記有色インクが直接着弾する前記印刷の条件での前記有色インク濃度に対応付けた前記定着剤濃度の設定の仕方と異ならせることを特徴とする請求項1から9のいずれかに記載の定着剤量の設定方法。
