Description
これにより、高い透過率を確保するとともに、モアレを低減して、表示品質を向上させることができる液晶表示装置を得ることができる。
図1は、この発明の実施の形態1に係る液晶表示装置を示す断面図である。図1において、液晶表示装置100は、バックライト10、表示面側のRGBパネル20、バックライト側のLVパネル30および光拡散層40から構成されている。なお、RGBパネル20およびLVパネル30は、広視野角特性を有するIPSモードの液晶パネルである。
また、複数枚の液晶パネルのうち、最も表示面側の液晶パネルを除く液晶パネルにおいて、下部ガラス基板の画素領域が、データラインおよびゲートラインまで拡大されている。
これにより、高い透過率を確保するとともに、モアレを低減して、表示品質を向上させることができる液晶表示装置を得ることができる。
Claims (4)
- 液晶表示装置であって、
表示面側に配置され、表示面側の上部ガラス基板、バックライト側の下部ガラス基板、第1ゲートライン、第1データライン、第1画素電極、第1共通電極、通過する光に赤、緑、青の色を付加するカラーフィルタ、第1ブラックマトリクス、および、前記カラーフィルタおよび前記第1ブラックマトリクスを覆うオーバーコーティング層を含む第1液晶パネルと、
背面側に配置され、表示面側の上部ガラス基板、バックライト側の下部ガラス基板、第2ゲートライン、第2データライン、第2画素電極、第2共通電極、および、第2ブラックマトリクスを含む第2液晶パネルとを備え、
前記第2液晶パネルは、前記第2データライン上に前記第2共通電極が形成されたVcomトップ構造を有するIPSモードの液晶パネルであり、カラーフィルタおよびオーバーコーティング層を持たず、その結果、前記第2ブラックマトリクスは前記オーバーコーティング層に覆われておらず、
前記第2ブラックマトリクスは、前記下部ガラス基板に形成される薄膜トランジスタのチャネルに対応する上部ガラス基板の領域のみに形成され、
前記第2データラインと前記第2画素電極との間の距離は、前記第1データラインと前記第1画素電極との間の距離よりも小さい
液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2液晶パネルの前記下部ガラス基板の画素領域が、前記第2データラインおよびゲートラインまで拡大されている
請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 液晶パネルと液晶パネルとの間に設けられ、入射された光を拡散して出射する光拡散層をさらに備えた
請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1液晶パネルは、IPSモード液晶パネル、VAモード液晶パネル、複屈折モード液晶パネルの内の1つである
請求項1から請求項3までの何れか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
