を補正する補正手段と、を備える内燃機関の排気浄化装置である。
図1は、本実施形態に係る内燃機関1の吸気系及び排気系の概略構成を示す図である。内燃機関1は車両駆動用のガソリンエンジンである。ただし、内燃機関1はディーゼルエンジンであってもよい。内燃機関1には排気通路2が接続されている。排気通路2には、三元触媒31を担持したパティキュレートフィルタ3(以下、フィルタ3という。)が設けられている。フィルタ3は、排気中のPMを捕集するウォールフロー型のフィルタであり、フィルタ3の隔壁に形成された細孔を排気が通過するときに排気中のPMが捕集される。
っても、三元触媒31から流出する排気の空燃比は厳密には理論空燃比からずれている場合もあるため、このような場合には空燃比を切り換えないようにするためである。
大酸素吸蔵量がより多くなる。ここで、フィルタ3の隔壁内3BにPMが堆積して隔壁内3Bの排気の流れが細孔径のより小さい箇所を通過するように変化すると、隔壁内3Bのより広い範囲に排気が流通するようになるため、酸素と接触する吸蔵サイトがより多くなる。したがって、フィルタ3の隔壁内3BにPMが堆積するにしたがって、最大酸素吸蔵量が多くなる。その後、フィルタ3の隔壁内3Bにある程度のPMが堆積して、隔壁内3BでPMを捕集できなくなると、フィルタ3の隔壁の表面3AにPMが堆積するようになる。フィルタ3の隔壁の表面3AにPMが堆積しても、フィルタ3の隔壁内3Bの排気の流れはほとんど変化しないため、酸素と接触する吸蔵サイトの数もほとんど変化しない。したがって、フィルタ3の隔壁の表面3AにおいてPM堆積量が増加しても、最大酸素吸蔵量はほとんど変化しない。
て求められた最大酸素吸蔵量から補正量ΔCを減算することにより、最大酸素吸蔵量を補正する。隔壁内堆積量が多くなるほど、最大酸素吸蔵量が増加するため、その増加分を打ち消すように補正量ΔCを設定する。そのため、隔壁内堆積量が多いときは少ないときよりも、補正量ΔCは大きくなる。図7に示した関係は、予め実験またはシミュレーション等により求めて補正マップとしてECU10に記憶させておく。

Claims (1)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に設けられ酸素吸蔵能力を有する触媒を担持したパティキュレートフィルタと、
前記パティキュレートフィルタよりも下流の排気の空燃比を検出する空燃比検出手段と、
前記パティキュレートフィルタに流入する排気の空燃比を変化させる空燃比制御手段と、
前記パティキュレートフィルタの隔壁内に堆積している粒子状物質の量を推定する堆積量推定手段と、
前記空燃比制御手段により排気の空燃比を変化させたときの前記空燃比検出手段により得られる排気の空燃比の変化から、前記触媒の最大酸素吸蔵量を推定する吸蔵量推定手段と、
前記堆積量推定手段により推定される前記粒子状物質の量に基づいて、前記触媒の最大酸素吸蔵量を補正する補正手段と、
を備え、
前記補正手段は、前記堆積量推定手段により推定される前記粒子状物質の量が多いときは少ないときよりも、前記最大酸素吸蔵量を少なくする側に補正するときの補正量をより大きくする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
