Description
前記混合物を製造する前に、ゼオライトは、熱処理を通じて水分子(water molecules)を除去することができるが、これに制限されるものではない。
前記熱処理を通じて硫黄を昇華させて、ゼオライト内に硫黄が均一に分散された形態の硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を製造することができる。
実施例1:硫黄−ゼオライト複合体(放射性核種吸着剤)の製造
チャバサイト(Chabazite、「CHA」と名付け)、NaA、NaX、モルデナイト(mordenite、「MOR」と名付け)のゼオライトをそれぞれ2gずつ0.222gの硫黄と室温で30分間混合した。その後、この混合物を433Kで1時間の間、593Kで10時間の間熱処理して、硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を合成した。上記のように製造されたサンプルをそれぞれ「S−CHA」、「S−NaA」、「S−NaX」、「S−MOR」と名付けた。
実験例1:X線−回折パターンの分析
ゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体の結晶構造をXRD(X−raydiffractometer、Rigaku、D/MAX2100H)を用い分析し、図2にゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体のX−線回折分析(X−ray diffraction analysis、XRD)結果を示した。全ての硫黄−ゼオライト複合体は、該当ゼオライトと同一の位置の2θで強い回折ピークを示した。これは硫黄−ゼオライト複合体の製造過程でゼオライト骨格が崩れないことを意味する。また、元素硫黄に該当する回折ピークは現われなかったが、これは硫黄が非常に均一で小さくゼオライト内に分散されていることを意味する。
図3は、硫黄−ゼオライト複合体の透過電子顕微鏡の暗視野像(Dark Field image)イメージ及びエネルギー分散分光法(Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy、EDS)で分析した元素分布結果を示した写真である。(a)、(b)、(c)、(d)は、それぞれS−NaA、S−NaX、S−CHA、S−MORを示し、黄色はシリコン(silicon)、赤色は硫黄(sulfur)、青色はナトリウム(sodium)、緑色はアルミニウム(aluminum)元素(element)に対する分布を示す。全てのサンプルで硫黄がゼオライト結晶に均一に分布したことが確認できる。
実施例1で製造されたゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体のセシウムイオン(Cs+)除去性能を下記のような水溶液イオン交換方法で評価した。全てのイオン交換吸着実験は、常温でセシウムイオン(Cs+)100ppmを含む水溶液(CsClを用いて製造)200mLに0.02g〜0.3gに該当するゼオライト又は硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を接触し、3時間の間400rpmの速度で撹拌しながら進行した。撹拌後の溶液のCs+濃度は、誘導結合プラズマ質量分析器(Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer)を通じて測定した。
セシウムイオン(Cs + )除去能力の評価
実施例1で製造されたゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体のCs+除去能力を実際の地下水組成と類似な水溶液でのイオン交換方法で評価した。放射性核種に汚染された地下水条件と類似な(Datta,S.J.;Moon,W.K.;Choi,D.Y.;Hwang,I.C.;Yoon,K.B.A Novel Vanadosilicate with Hexadeca−Coordinated Cs+ Ions as a Highly Effective Cs+ Remover。Angew.Chem.Int.Ed.2014、53、7203−7208)1ppm Cs+、125ppm Na+、25ppm Ca2+、10ppm Mg2+、5ppm K+を含む溶液をCsCl、NaCl、CaCl2・2H2O、MgCl2・6H2O、KClを用いて製造した。イオン交換実験は、常温で前記水溶液200mLに0.1gのゼオライト及び0.111gの硫黄−ゼオライト複合体(10%重量の硫黄が含まれた0.111gの硫黄−ゼオライト複合体内のゼオライト重さは、0.1gであるので、硫黄がいない一般ゼオライト0.1gと同一な体積を有する条件である、今後の吸着実験でも多様な%重量の硫黄が含まれた硫黄−ゼオライトの重さは全てゼオライトの重さが同一な条件で実験する。これは、硫黄が含まれた硫黄−ゼオライト複合体がゼオライトに比べて硫黄の重さほどさらに重くなるが、硫黄はゼオライト気孔中に入るので硫黄の有無と関係なく硫黄−ゼオライトの体積変化はなく、実際にコラム適用や使用後の放射性廃棄物の処分時に、吸着剤の重さよりは体積がさらに重要な因子であるので、全ての吸着実験を同一な体積で比較するためにゼオライトの重さを同一にして実験する)を接触し、3時間の間400rpmの速度で撹拌しながら進行した。図5(a)は、ゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を放射性Cs+が汚染された地下水と類似な組成(1ppm Cs+、125ppm Na+、25ppm Ca2+、10ppm Mg2+、5ppm K+)の溶液に接触させたときのCs+の分配係数(Kd、mL gzeolite −1)及びイオン除去率(Cs+ removal、%)を示す。図5(a)に示したように、全ての硫黄−ゼオライト複合体が各該当ゼオライトに比べて数等高い分配係数(Kd、mL gzeolite −1)及び増進されたセシウムイオン除去率(Cs+ removal、%)を示すことが分かる。これは、HSAB理論によることで、Cs+が競争イオンである地下水内のNa+、Ca2+、Mg2+、K+に比べて一層ソフト(more soft/less hard)な酸(acid)であるため、ソフト塩基(soft base)である硫黄と化学的親密度が高くて競争イオンが多い地下水条件でもCs+除去性能が向上することで、他の種類のゼオライトに対しても同じ効果が予想される。
ゼオライトは、基本的に2価イオン(重金属及びSrなど)とイオン交換がよく行われる物質と知られているので、Cs+外の重要放射性核種であるSr2+に対して除去特性を分析し、その結果を図5(b)に示した。図5(b)は、実施例1で製造されたゼオライト及び硫黄‐ゼオライト複合体(複合体の全体重量を基準で10重量%の硫黄が含まれる、10S−Zeolite)のSr2+除去能力を実際の地下水組成と類似な組成(1ppm Sr2+、125ppm Na+、25ppm Ca2+、10ppm Mg2+、5ppm K+)の水溶液でのイオン交換方法で評価した。図5(b)に示したように、硫黄が含まれた4種の硫黄−ゼオライト複合体のSr2+に対する除去率及び分配係数(Kd)値が多少低下されることで確認された。これは、HSAB理論によることで、Srが基本的にハード酸(hard acid)であるため、ソフト塩基(soft base)である硫黄と化学的親密度が低くて硫黄がたくさん含まれたゼオライトとイオン交換反応がよく行われないことと判断される。
前記実験結果によると、硫黄(S)が添加される場合、セシウム(Cs)の除去には有利であると確認された。硫黄(S)の量とセシウム(Cs)除去効果の関係を確認するために硫黄の量を増やしながらセシウム(Cs)除去特性の変化をNaXゼオライトを用いて分析した。
硫黄−ゼオライト複合体に硫黄(S)がたくさん含まれるほどCs+の除去には有利であるが、Sr2+の除去には有利ではない。これによって、Sr2+及びCs+の同時除去に適合な硫黄の含量をさがすために下記実験を行った。
硫黄−ゼオライト(CHA)の全体重量を基準で10重量%、5重量%の硫黄が含まれた硫黄(S)−ゼオライト(CHA)複合体及びゼオライト(CHA)をそれぞれのゼオライトの重さを基準で10mgを用い、Cs+ 86ppmが含まれた蒸溜水20mLでのCs+吸着速度変化及びSr2+ 98ppmが含まれた蒸溜水20mLでのSr2+吸着速度変化を分析した。硫黄がたくさん混入されるほどCs+吸着速度(除去速度)及びSr2+吸着速度が多少遅くなる結果を示した。これは、硫黄がゼオライトの気孔を占めているので、Cs+又はSr2+が通過する方向を妨害するからである。
実施例1で製造されたゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体の競争イオン存在下の水溶液でのセシウムイオン(Cs+)除去性能を下記のようなイオン交換方法で評価した。セシウムイオン(Cs+)1ppmを含んでいる蒸溜水を製造した後、NaClとCaCl2・2H2Oを追加で溶解させて競争イオン(Na+又はCa2+):セシウムイオン(Cs+)のモル数比を0−10000倍で調節した。イオン交換吸着実験は、常温で前記水溶液200mLに0.1gのゼオライト及び0.111gの硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を接触し、3時間の間400rpmの速度で撹拌しながら進行した。図10は、ゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体をナトリウム(Na+)及びカルシウム(Ca2+)を競争イオンで含む1ppmのCs+溶液に接触させたとき、Cs+の分配係数(Kd、mLgzeolite −1)及びイオン除去率(Cs+ removal、%)を示したグラフである。図10から分かるように、全ての吸着剤がナトリウム(Na+)及びカルシウム(Ca2+)競争イオンの濃度が増加するによってCs+の分配係数(Kd、mLgzeolite −1)及び除去率(removal、%)が減少することを確認した。これは、ナトリウム(Na+)及びカルシウム(Ca2+)などの競争イオンの存在がゼオライト及び硫黄−ゼオライト複合体の放射性核種のイオン交換に悪い影響を及ぼすことを意味する。しかし、競争イオンの濃度と関係なく全ての硫黄−ゼオライト複合体が各該当ゼオライトに比べて一層高い分配係数及びイオン除去率を示すことから、硫黄−ゼオライト複合体が該当ゼオライトより卓越な放射性核種選択性を有することが分かる。
Claims (12)
- ゼオライトの気孔内に硫黄が分散された形態の硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を含み、前記硫黄−ゼオライト複合体が、前記複合体の全体重量を基準で1〜25重量%の硫黄を含むことを特徴とする、放射性核種吸着剤。
- 前記硫黄−ゼオライト複合体は、複合体の全体重量を基準で3〜20重量%の硫黄を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。
- 前記硫黄−ゼオライト複合体は、複合体の全体重量を基準で4〜12重量%の硫黄を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。
- 前記ゼオライトは、CHA(chabazite)、MOR(mordenite)、NaA、NaX、FAU(faujasite)、LTA(Linde Type A)、ANA(analcime)、LTL(Linde Type L)、EMT(EMC−2)、MFI(ZSM−5)、FER(ferrierite)、HEU(heulandite)、BEA(Beta polymorph A)及びMTW(ZSM−12)からなる群より選択される一つ又はこれらの組合せであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。
- 前記放射性核種は、セシウム又はストロンチウムのうち選択される一つ以上を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。
- 前記放射性核種は、セシウムであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。
- 前記ゼオライトは、NaXであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。
- 前記硫黄−ゼオライト複合体は、複合体の全体重量を基準で4〜12重量%の硫黄を含み、
前記放射性核種は、セシウム及びストロンチウムであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。 - 前記ゼオライトは、CHA(chabazite)であることを特徴とする、請求項8に記載の放射性核種吸着剤。
- 硫黄とゼオライトの混合物を熱処理してゼオライトの気孔内に硫黄が分散された形態の硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を含む放射性核種吸着剤を製造する方法であって、前記混合物の全体重量を基準で硫黄を1〜25重量%で混合することを特徴とする、放射性核種吸着剤を製造する方法。
- 前記熱処理温度は、50〜700℃であることを特徴とする、請求項10に記載の放射性核種吸着剤を製造する方法。
- ゼオライトの気孔内に硫黄が分散された形態の硫黄−ゼオライト複合体を含む放射性核種吸着剤をセシウムイオン又はストロンチウムイオンを含む溶液に接触させて放射性核種を吸着するステップを含み、前記硫黄−ゼオライト複合体が、前記複合体の全体重量を基準で1〜25重量%の硫黄を含む放射性核種の除去方法。
