Description
The present invention relates to a coating apparatus and a coating method, and in particular, a material for organic electroluminescence (hereinafter referred to as “organic EL”) on a substrate, a material for liquid crystal and other general flat panel displays (hereinafter referred to as “FPD”), and the like. The present invention relates to a coating device and a coating method for discharging and coating a coating material.
In order to manufacture organic EL panels for FPDs such as 4KTVs and high-definition smartphones, it is necessary to have an inkjet coating device that can apply organic EL materials as coating materials to the substrate with high accuracy and efficiency. ing.
For example,
In a conventional inkjet coating device, the substrate is generally carried in and out of the coating device by supporting the lower surface of the substrate with a support arm provided in an actuator such as a robot hand, and applying the substrate to the coating device. It is done by putting it in and out. Then, the substrate coated with the coating material is conveyed to the drying processing apparatus in a state where the lower surface is supported by the support arm of the robot hand and dried. As a result, the coating material is cured and a film is formed on the substrate.
An inkjet coating device is useful for manufacturing a large FPD, but as the panel becomes larger and thinner, it becomes difficult to form a uniform film on the substrate of the coating material, and quality such as color unevenness becomes difficult. There was a risk of a decrease in
That is, since the substrate is partially supported by the support arm of the robot hand, the substrate may be curved on the support arm and the coating material may move on the substrate due to gravity. In addition, the coating material may move on the substrate due to vibration or wind during transportation by the robot hand. Then, since the coating material dries slightly during transportation, when the coating material moves on the substrate, the coating material starts to cure at a position deviated from the original position, and the coating material is uniformly formed on the substrate. The membrane becomes difficult.
In addition, the coating material may move on the substrate and spread at the peripheral edge of the coating region. In this case, the sagging that occurs at the edge of the coating area of the coating material on the substrate becomes large, and the display area of the FPD is narrowed.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and is a coating device and coating capable of making the film formation of the coating material on the substrate more uniform and further suppressing the sagging of the edge of the coating region of the coating material on the substrate. The challenge is to provide a method.
In order to achieve the above problems, the coating apparatus according to the present invention is of an inkjet type in which a holding table for holding a substrate and a coating material containing an ultraviolet curable resin are discharged and coated on the substrate held on the holding table. The coating unit, the moving mechanism for moving the substrate to which the coating material is applied from the coating portion, and the substrate in the state where the coating material is applied are being moved by the moving mechanism. The holding table is provided with a heating source for heating the holding table, and the coating part changes the pattern of dots due to droplets of the coating material. The coating material is applied to the substrate so that the coating density at the edge of the coating region of the coating material on the substrate is sparser than that inside the coating region by changing the size of the dots. It is characterized by that.
Further, the coating method according to the present invention includes a holding step of holding the substrate on a holding table heated by a heating source and an ultraviolet curable resin on the substrate held on the holding table by an inkjet coating unit. The coating step of discharging and applying the coating material, the moving step of moving the substrate in the state where the coating material is applied, and the moving step of the substrate in the state of applying the coating material are performed. The coating unit comprises an ultraviolet irradiation step of irradiating ultraviolet rays during the movement of the substrate, and the coating portion is formed on the substrate by changing the pattern of dots due to droplets of the coating material or by changing the size of the dots . The coating material is applied to the substrate so that the coating density is sparser at the edge of the coating region of the coating material than the inside of the coating region.
According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a coating device and a coating method capable of making the film formation of the coating material on the substrate more uniform and further suppressing the sagging of the edge of the coating region of the coating material on the substrate.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention (hereinafter, referred to as “the present embodiment”) will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In addition, each figure is only shown schematicly to the extent that the present invention can be fully understood. Therefore, the present invention is not limited to the illustrated examples. Further, in each figure, common components and similar components are designated by the same reference numerals, and duplicate description thereof will be omitted.

As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the
In order to manufacture an organic EL panel, the
The
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the
The holding table 2 holds the
The holding table 2 is provided with a heating source 22 (see FIG. 2) for heating the holding table 2. Specifically, the
The
The

As shown in FIGS. 4 (a) and 4 (d), the carry-in
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the coating unit 4 discharges and applies the coating material to the

The coating unit 4 includes a pair of

The X-axis direction of the holding table 2 by the

The
Further, a plurality of nozzles (not shown) for discharging the coating material to one
The coating unit 4 is provided with a coating material heating device 48 (see FIG. 5) that heats the coating material before coating on the
The control unit 8 (see FIG. 5) can control the presence / absence and timing of ejection of the coating material and the amount of the coating material to be discharged for each nozzle of the
A
The
As schematically shown in FIG. 4B, the image captured by the
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the
The
The

First, the control unit 8 drives the
Then, as shown in FIG. 6, the
Next, the coating material is applied to the
First, the control unit 8 controls to discharge and apply the coating material containing the ultraviolet curable resin to the
Here, the
In the present embodiment, the control unit 8 controls the coating unit 4 to apply the coating material to the
Subsequently, the control unit 8 controls to inspect the coating state of the coating material on the
Subsequently, the control unit 8 confirms that, as a result of the coating inspection in step S2, there is no dropout of the coating material (OK) in the coating region of the coating material on the substrate 100 (step S3). If it is determined that there is no dropout (OK) (Yes in step S3), the control unit 8 proceeds to the process in step S4. On the other hand, if it is determined that there is a dropout (No in step S3), the control unit 8 returns the process to step S2 and causes the portion where the dropout is found to be repaired.
When the coating of the coating material on the
The curing by ultraviolet rays in step S4 is a preliminary curing for suppressing the movement of the coating material on the
When the irradiation of the coating material on the
When the coating unit 4 applies the coating material to the
Subsequently, the holding of the
The
As described above, in the
According to this embodiment, the
Therefore, the coating material is preliminarily cured to some extent in the original position while suppressing the coating material from moving on the
That is, according to the present embodiment, the film formation of the coating material on the
FIG. 8 is a diagram showing a surface shape of a cross section near the edge of the sealing
As shown in FIG. 8, in the comparative example, it can be seen that the distance from the edge position to the position where the film thickness falls within the target range, that is, the edge sagging is large. On the other hand, in this embodiment, it can be seen that the edge sagging is smaller than that in the comparative example regardless of whether or not the coating density is controlled.
Further, in the present embodiment, the
Further, in the present embodiment, the holding table 2 is a suction table having a
Further, in the present embodiment, the coating material is applied to the
By controlling the
Further, in the present embodiment, the
Further, in the present embodiment, an irradiation
Further, in the present embodiment, the coating unit 4 is provided with a coating

Further, in the above-described embodiment, the irradiation
