Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a coating device, and in particular, a coating material such as a material for organic electroluminescence (hereinafter referred to as "organic EL") and a material for a general flat panel display (hereinafter referred to as "FPD") such as a liquid crystal display is applied to a substrate. The present invention relates to a coating device for discharging and coating.
In order to manufacture organic EL panels for FPDs such as 4KTVs and high-definition smartphones, an inkjet coating device that can apply organic EL materials as coating materials to the substrate with high accuracy and efficiency is required. ing.
For example,
In a conventional inkjet coating device, the substrate is generally carried in and out of the coating device by supporting the lower surface of the substrate with a support arm provided in an actuator such as a robot hand and applying the substrate to the coating device. It is done by putting it in and out. Then, the substrate coated with the coating material is conveyed to the drying processing apparatus in a state where the lower surface is supported by the support arm of the robot hand and dried. As a result, the coating material is cured and a film is formed on the substrate.
Inkjet coating equipment is useful for manufacturing large FPDs, but as panels become larger and thinner, it becomes difficult to form a uniform coating on the substrate, resulting in quality such as color unevenness. There was a risk of a decrease in.
That is, since the substrate is partially supported by the support arm of the robot hand, the substrate may be curved on the support arm and the coating material may move on the substrate due to gravity. In addition, the coating material may move on the substrate due to vibration or wind during transportation by the robot hand. Then, since the coating material dries slightly even during transportation, when the coating material moves on the substrate, the coating material starts to cure at a position deviated from the original position, and the coating material is uniformly formed on the substrate. The membrane becomes difficult.
In addition, the coating material may move on the substrate and spread at the peripheral edge of the coating region. In this case, the sagging that occurs at the edge of the coating region of the coating material on the substrate becomes large, and the display area of the FPD is narrowed.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and provides a coating device capable of more uniform film formation of a coating material on a substrate and further suppressing sagging of an edge of a coating region of a coating material on the substrate. The task is to do.
In order to achieve the above problems, the coating device according to the present invention has a holding table for holding a substrate, a moving mechanism for moving the holding table in the horizontal direction and folding back, and moving the holding table by the moving mechanism. A coating unit that discharges a coating material containing an ultraviolet curable resin onto the substrate held on the holding table inside, and discharges a coating material containing an ultraviolet curable resin onto the substrate held on the holding table during folding back movement. A pair of coating inspection units, which are arranged on the downstream side of each movement direction of the holding table with respect to the coating unit and inspect the coating state of the coating material on the substrate, and the holding for each coating inspection unit. It is arranged on the downstream side of each moving direction of the table, and is provided with a pair of ultraviolet irradiation portions for irradiating the substrate with the coating material coated with ultraviolet rays.
According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a coating device capable of making the film formation of the coating material on the substrate more uniform and further suppressing the sagging of the edge of the coating region of the coating material on the substrate.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention (hereinafter referred to as “the present embodiment”) will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. It should be noted that each figure is merely shown schematically to the extent that the present invention can be fully understood. Therefore, the present invention is not limited to the illustrated examples. Further, in each figure, common components and similar components are designated by the same reference numerals, and duplicate description thereof will be omitted.
FIG. 1 is a schematic perspective view showing a coating device 1 according to the present embodiment. FIG. 2 is a schematic side view of the coating device 1 shown in FIG. FIG. 3 is a schematic plan view of the coating device 1 shown in FIG. In the following description, as shown in FIG. 1, the longitudinal direction of the gantry 11 (the moving direction of the holding table 2) is the X-axis, and the width direction of the gantry 11 (the direction orthogonal to the X-axis on the horizontal plane) is Y. It will be described assuming that the axis is the axis and the vertical direction is the Z axis.
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the coating device 1 is a coating device that discharges and coats a coating material on a
In order to manufacture an organic EL panel, the coating device 1 of the present embodiment is used as a coating material on a
The
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the coating device 1 mainly includes a holding table 2, a carrying-in
The holding table 2 holds the
The holding table 2 is provided with a heating source 22 (see FIG. 2) for heating the holding table 2. Specifically, the
The
The
FIG. 4 (a) is a schematic perspective view for explaining the carry-in of the
As shown in FIGS. 4 (a) and 4 (d), the carry-in
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the
The
The
The
The holding table 2 is moved in the X-axis direction by the
The
The
Further, a plurality of nozzles (not shown) for discharging the coating material to one
The
The control unit 8 (see FIG. 5) can control the presence / absence and timing of ejection of the coating material and the amount of the coating material to be ejected for each nozzle of the
A
The
As schematically shown in FIG. 4B, the image captured by the
As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the
The
The
The
The irradiation
The movement of the

As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the

FIG. 6 is a flowchart showing a procedure of a method of applying a coating material to the
First, the
Then, as shown in FIG. 6, the
Next, the coating material is applied to the
First, the
Here, the
In the present embodiment, the
Subsequently, the
Subsequently, the
When the coating of the coating material on the
The curing by ultraviolet rays in step S4 is a preliminary curing for suppressing the movement of the coating material on the
When the irradiation of the coating material on the
When the
Subsequently, the holding of the
The
As described above, in the coating apparatus 1 according to the present embodiment, the coating material containing the ultraviolet curable resin is discharged and coated on the holding table 2 holding the

FIG. 8 is a diagram showing the surface shape of the cross section near the edge of the sealing
As shown in FIG. 8, in the comparative example, it can be seen that the distance from the edge position to the position where the film thickness falls within the target range, that is, the edge sagging is large. On the other hand, in this embodiment, it can be seen that the edge sagging is smaller than that in the comparative example regardless of whether or not the coating density is controlled.
Further, in the present embodiment, the
Further, in the present embodiment, the holding table 2 is a suction table having a
Further, in the present embodiment, the coating material is applied to the
By controlling the
Further, in the present embodiment, the
Further, in the present embodiment, an irradiation
Further, in the present embodiment, the
