Description
本発明の態様は、図1〜図4を参照して説明することができる。図1に具体的に示されるように、タイヤ11は、一対の軸方向に離間したビード15、15’の間に延在するカーカス13を含む。カーカス13は、対向する折返し部分14、14’を含み、それによってボディプライ13に、それぞれビードフィラー部分16、16’を取り囲むようにさせる。摩耗ストリップ17、17’は、ビード15、15’で、又はその付近で、ボディプライ13を部分的に収容する。タイヤ11は、タイヤ11の最外周表面を形成する、対向する側壁19、19’、及びトレッド部分21を更に含む。サブトレッド23は、トレッド21の下に配設され、アンダートレッド25は、サブトレッド23の下に配設され、ベルトパッケージ27は、アンダートレッド25の下に配設される。複数のベルト(図示せず)を含み得るベルトパッケージ27は、それ自体が1つ以上のボディプライ(図示せず)を含み得る、カーカス13の上部に位置決めされる。インナーライナー29は、トレッド21に対してカーカス13の内部上に配設される。当業者には理解されるように、タイヤ11はまた、限定されるわけではないが、トレッド肩部、キャッププライ、ベルトウェッジ、及びベルト肩部等の、示されない、様々な他の構成要素を含んでもよい。
本発明の1つ以上の実施形態のシーラント層(例えば、シーラント層33)は、概して、流動性であるゴム組成物を含み、したがって、シーラント層が配設される領域において、タイヤ11に曝され得るパンクをシールすることができる。したがって、組成物は、自己回復性を有する本発明のタイヤを提供する。
1つ以上の実施形態において、空気バリア層(例えば、空気バリア層31)は、概して、空気バリア層の1つ以上の特性に関して説明され得る。
H(SC2H4OCH2OC2H4S)nH (II)
式中、nは、最大で1,000を含む数であり得る。例示的なポリスルフィドは、商標名THIOPLAST(登録商標)で市販されている、Akzo Nobel、Greiz、Germanyから供給されるメルカプト末端基を有する液体ポリスルフィドポリマーである。
本発明のタイヤに関連付けられた様々なタイヤ構成要素は、従来の加硫性組成物から調製することができる。したがって、本発明の1つ又は実施形態の実施は、様々なタイヤ構成要素を調製するための従来の慣行を変更しない。一般的に言えば、これらの加硫性組成物は、エラストマー、充填剤、及び硬化剤、並びに、限定されるわけではないが、劣化防止剤、硬化活性化剤、硬化促進剤、油、樹脂、可塑剤、顔料、脂肪酸、酸化亜鉛、及び解膠剤を含む、他の成分を含んでもよい。
上述のように、様々なタイヤ構成要素は、ゴムを含む、加硫性組成物を使用して調製することができる。1つ以上の実施形態において、加硫性ゴム又はエラストマーとも称され得るゴムは、ゴム状特性又はエラストマー特性を保有する組成物を形成するために加硫され得るポリマーを含み得る。これらのエラストマーは、天然ゴム及び合成ゴムを含み得る。合成ゴムは、典型的に、共役ジエンモノマーの重合、共役ジエンモノマーと他のモノマー(例えばビニル置換芳香族モノマー)との共重合、あるいはエチレンと1つ以上のα−オレフィン及び任意的に1つ以上のジエンモノマーとの共重合から得られる。
上述のように、様々なタイヤ構成要素は、充填剤を含む、加硫性組成物を使用して調製することができる。充填剤には、1つ以上の従来の補強充填剤又は非補強充填剤が含まれてよい。例えば、有用な充填剤には、カーボンブラック、シリカ、アルミナ、及び、ケイ酸カルシウム、ケイ酸アルミニウム及びケイ酸マグネシウムなどのケイ酸塩が含まれる。
上述のように、様々なタイヤ構成要素は、硬化剤を含む加硫性組成物を使用して調製することができる。硫黄又は過酸化物系硬化系を含む、多数のゴム硬化剤(加硫剤とも呼ばれる)が用いられてもよい。硬化剤は、Kirk−Othmer,Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology,Vol.20,pgs.365−468,(3rd Ed.1982)、特に、Vulcanization Agents and Auxiliary Materials,pgs.390−402、及びA.Y.Coran,Vulcanization,Encyclopedia of Polymer Science and Engineering,(2nd Ed.1989)に記載されており、これらは、参照により本明細書に組み込まれる。1つ以上の実施形態において、硬化剤は硫黄である。好適な硫黄加硫剤の例としては、「ゴム製造業者(rubberrmaker)」の可溶性硫黄、二硫化アミン、ポリマー性ポリスルフィド、又は硫黄オレフィン付加物などの硫黄供与性加硫剤;及び不溶性ポリマー性硫黄が挙げられる。加硫剤は、単独で又は組み合わせて使用することができる。
本発明のタイヤは、従来のゴム成形、成型、及び硬化技術を用いることによって製造することができる。1つ以上の実施形態において、加硫は、加硫性組成物を金型内で加熱することによってもたらされ得る。1つ以上の実施形態において、組成物は、約120℃〜約180℃の内部温度で加熱され得る。
上記のように、本発明のタイヤに関連付けられたシーラント層及び空気バリア層は、硬化したタイヤが提供された後に塗布される。換言すれば、シーラント層及び空気バリア層は、タイヤの製造に関連付けられた加硫(すなわち、硬化)プロセスを受けたタイヤに塗布される。
Claims (5)
- セルフシール性を有するタイヤを調製する方法であって、
(i)硬化タイヤを提供する工程であって、前記タイヤが、第1のビードと、第2のビードと、前記第1のビードから前記第2のビードまで延在するカーカス層と、前記カーカス層の内部に配設された任意のインナーライナー層と、を含む、工程と、
(ii)シーラント組成物を、前記カーカス層の少なくとも一部又は前記任意のインナーライナー層の少なくとも一部に直接又は間接的に塗布する工程と、
(iii)空気バリア組成物を、前記カーカス層の少なくとも一部、又は前記任意のインナーライナー層の少なくとも一部に直接塗布する工程と、を含む、方法。 - 工程(ii)が、シーラント組成物を、前記カーカス層の一部若しくは前記任意のインナーライナー層の一部に直接塗布して、シーラント層及び露出したカーカス層若しくは任意のインナーライナー層を形成することを含み、工程(iii)が、空気バリア組成物を、前記シーラント層に、かつ前記露出したカーカス層若しくは露出した任意のインナーライナー層の少なくとも一部に塗布して、空気バリア層を形成することを含むか、又は工程(iii)が、工程(ii)の前に発生し、それによって前記空気バリア組成物が空気バリア層を形成し、工程(ii)が、前記シーラント組成物を、前記空気バリア層に塗布することを含み、それによって、前記シーラント組成物を、前記カーカス層若しくは任意のインナーライナー層に間接的に塗布して、シーラント層を形成することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 空気入りタイヤであって、
(i)トレッドと、
(ii)軸方向に離間した第1のビードと第2のビードとの間に延在するカーカスと、
(iii)インナーライナー層と、
(iv)前記インナーライナー層の一部の上に直接又は間接的に配設されたシーラント層と、
(v)前記インナーライナー層の一部の上に直接又は間接的に配設された空気バリア層と、
(vi)前記第1のビードの近傍の第1の摩耗ストリップ及び前記第2のビードの近傍の第2の摩耗ストリップと、を含み、
前記空気バリア層は、前記第1の摩耗ストリップに近接する場所から前記第2の摩耗ストリップに近接する場所まで延びる、タイヤ。 - 前記シーラント層が、前記インナーライナー層の一部の上に直接配設され、前記空気バリア層が前記シーラント層と前記インナーライナー層の一部とに直接配置されている、請求項3に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 前記空気バリア層が、前記インナーライナー層の上に直接配設され、前記シーラント層は、前記空気バリア層の一部の上に直接配置されている、請求項3に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
