Description
したがって、上述の処置においては、医師は、処置を実施する場合に適切なサイズのバルーンを選択できるように、種々の寸法決めされたバルーンを有するカテーテルを自ら保有する必要がある。
図5で示されるパターンから、外径2.1844mm(0.086インチ)および内径1.8796mm(0.074インチ)のニチノール管を切断形成することによってピボットリングを形成した。図示を簡略化するため、図5は、管を切断形成した平坦なパターンを表している。切断されたパターンは、リングの挟持側504においてそれぞれ0.1016mm(0.004インチ)の幅を有する8つのスロットを付与する。完全に閉塞された場合、およそ1.6256mm(0.064インチ)の直径を有するように、すなわち0.254mm(0.010インチ)の内径削減という結果がもたらされるであろう。切断には、およそ2:1の長さ比(開放指部長さ:閉塞指部長さ)を有する開放スリット502および挟持スロットの互い違いの配向が用いられた。図5Bは、結果として得られたバンドを管状に表した図である。
キャンベルらによる特許文献20の教示内容に従ってEPTFEバルーン構成体を形成した。40層のePTFEを高角度でかつ相対する方向において6mmのマンドレルの周りに巻き付けた。この管を380℃で約8分間加熱して、層を一緒に融合させた。管をマンドレルから除去し、延伸させて、それにより内径を少なくとも1.905mm(0.075インチ)未満まで縮小させた。次に管を1.905mm(0.075インチ)のステンレス鋼マンドレルに摺動させた。ePTFEフィルムからなる犠牲のオーバーラップを管にわたって設置し、その長さをその当初の長さの60%まで均等に縮小させた。管を380℃で一分間加熱し、犠牲のePTFEを除去した。このePTFE管を、DMAC(N、Nジメチルアセトアミド)のBiospanポリウレタン(オランダのDSM社)12%溶液に浸漬した。溶液への3回の浸漬を行うとともに、各工程の間に溶剤を乾燥させるための加熱ないし乾燥工程を行なった。この管をマンドレルから除去し、反転させて、ポリウレタンが内径側になるようにするとともに、長さを約60mmまでトリミングした(ePTFEバルーン構成体)。膨張を可能にするため、外径1.6002mm(0.063インチ)、内径約1.3462mm(約0.053インチ)のナイロン管を用意した。膨張媒体の通過を防止するために、管の遠位端を閉塞した。膨張媒体が容易に通過できるように、遠位端において管の側面に膨張ポートを形成した。紫外線硬化性を有するDymax208CTHを用いて管の近位端に対し単一のルアーフィッティングを固定的に取付けた。
バンドが近位シールから約28mmの場所にある状態で、実施例2のカテーテル構成体を0.607MPa(6atm)まで膨張させた(図6A)。これにより、およそ28mmの膨張した合計長さがもたらされ、ピボットリング部材の下方を通過する膨張媒体は一切観察されなかった。バルーンを収縮させ(図6B)、リングを(図6Cに矢印615で表されているように)遠位側に約10mm位置変更した。バルーンを0.810MPa(8atm)まで再度膨張させ、バルーンの新たな膨張長さは約38mmになり(図6D)、ここでもまた、ピボットリングの下方を通過する膨張媒体は一切観察されなかった。ピボット運動した状態のピボットバンドのさらに拡大した図(図7、参照番号は図1に記載のとおり)が示されており、膨張の際にシールを作製して軸線方向の移動を防止するために、バンドがバルーン構成体内に押込まれる態様が表されている。
Claims (10)
- 膨張可能部材を封止するリングにおいて、
− 第1の端部、第2の端部、肉厚部、直径部および長さ部を有するリングを具備しており、前記リングは該リングを貫通する内腔をさらに有しており、
さらに、
− 前記リングの前記第1の端部において前記リングの肉厚部を通って前記リングの長さ部の少なくとも一部まで延在する複数のスリットと、
− 前記複数のスリットの間に配置される前記リングの第1の端部に設けられる複数の指部と、
− 前記リングの前記第2の端部において前記リングの肉厚部を通って前記リングの長さ部の少なくとも一部まで延在していて、前記スリットに対して周方向にオフセットされるとともに、前記リングの長さ部まで延在していて前記スリットと少なくとも部分的に重なり合うようになっており、それにより、前記リング内部にピボット領域を形成する複数の間隙と、
− 前記間隙の間に配置された前記リングの第2の端部に設けられる、複数のリング部材と、
を具備する、リング。 - 前記リングの前記内腔を貫通する膨張可能部材をさらに具備する、請求項1に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
- 前記リングの第1の端部における直径が増大すると、前記リングの第2の端部における直径が縮小し、その結果として、前記リングの第2の端部において圧縮力が作用するか、あるいは、前記リングの軸線方向の移動が制限される、請求項1又は2に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
- 前記リングの第1の端部における直径が、前記膨張可能部材の膨張によって増大し、そして、前記リングの第2の端部における直径が縮小し、かつ前記膨張可能部材の一部の膨張が制限されるか、前記膨張可能部材の少なくとも一部を封止するか、あるいは前記膨張可能部材の作用長さ部が調整される、請求項2に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
- 膨張可能部材を封止するリングにおいて、
− 第1の端部、第2の端部、肉厚部、直径部および長さ部を有するリングを具備しており、前記リングは該リングを貫通する内腔をさらに有しており、
さらに、
− 前記リングの前記第1の端部において前記リングの肉厚部を通って前記リングの長さ部の少なくとも一部まで延在し、前記リングの前記第1の端部において複数の指部を画定する複数のスリットと、
− 前記リングの前記第2の端部において前記リングの肉厚部を通って前記リングの長さ部の少なくとも一部まで延在し、前記リングの前記第2の端部において複数の部材を画定する複数の間隙と、
を具備し、
ここで、前記複数のスリットと前記複数の間隙の間の前記リング上の環状領域においてピボット領域が画定される、リング。 - 前記隙間が、前記スリットに対して周方向にオフセットされる、請求項5に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
- 前記スリット及び隙間が前記ピボット領域において重なり合うように、前記スリット及び隙間が前記リングの長さ部まで延在する、請求項6に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
- 前記リングの前記内腔を貫通する膨張可能部材をさらに具備する、請求項5〜7のいずれか1項に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
- 前記リングの第1の端部おける直径が増大すると、前記リングの第2の端部における直径が縮小し、その結果として、前記リングの第2の端部において圧縮力が作用するか、あるいは、前記リングの軸線方向の移動が制限される、請求項8に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
- 前記リングの第1の端部における直径が、前記膨張可能部材の膨張によって増大すると、前記リングの第2の端部における直径が縮小し、かつ前記膨張可能部材の一部の膨張が制限されるか、前記膨張可能部材の少なくとも一部を封止するか、あるいは前記膨張可能部材の作用長さ部が調整される、請求項8に記載の膨張可能部材を封止するリング。
