さまざまな技術および器具が、動脈および同様の身体の通路における組織の除去または修復において使用するために開発されてきた。そのような技術および器具の、よくある目的は、患者の動脈におけるアテローム性動脈硬化巣の除去である。アテローム性動脈硬化は、患者の血管の(内皮下の)脈管内膜の層における脂肪の沈着物(アテローム)の蓄積が特徴である。非常に頻繁に経時的に、最初は相対的に軟質の、コレステロールに富んだ、アテローム様物質として沈着するものが、石灰化されたアテローム性動脈硬化巣に硬化する。そのようなアテロームは血流を制限し、したがって、しばしば、狭窄病変または狭窄と称され、その遮断物質は狭窄物質と称される。未処置のままで放置されると、そのような狭窄は、狭心症、高血圧、心筋梗塞および卒中などを引起し得る。

Claims (9)
- 直径を有する血管において狭窄を開くための高速回転式アテレクトミー装置であって、
前記血管の前記直径よりも小さな最大直径を有するガイドワイヤと、
前記ガイドワイヤにわたって前進可能な可撓性の細長い回転可能な駆動軸とを含み、前記駆動軸は回転軸を有し、前記高速回転式アテレクトミー装置はさらに、
前記駆動軸の前記回転軸から径方向にオフセットされる質量中心と、前記駆動軸に沿った離間された長手方向配置における2つ以上の偏心削摩ヘッドとを含む偏心システムを含み、前記2つ以上の偏心削摩ヘッドの各々は、幾何学上の中心および質量中心を有し、前記2つ以上の偏心削摩ヘッドの各々の質量中心は、同じ方向において前記駆動軸の前記回転軸から径方向にオフセットされる、高速回転式アテレクトミー装置。 - 前記2つ以上の偏心削摩ヘッドは、各々、休止直径をさらに含み、前記偏心システムにおける前記2つ以上の偏心削摩ヘッドの各々の前記休止直径は、同じでない、請求項1に記載の高速回転式アテレクトミー装置。
