Description
例えば、上記の記録ヘッドでは、液体状のインクを封入したインクカートリッジ(液体供給源)内のインクを、記録ヘッドのリザーバー(共通液室)を介して圧力室に導入し、圧電振動子や発熱素子等の圧力発生手段を駆動して圧力室内のインクに圧力変動を付与し、この圧力変動を利用して、圧力室に連通するノズルからインクを噴射する。この構成の記録ヘッドでは、インクカートリッジから記録ヘッドにインクを供給する流路の途中にバルブユニットが設けられている。
従って、皺などの異常を有していない可撓性部材は適正に変位し、可撓性部材の変位によって開閉する弁体も適正に動作するので、本適用例に係るバルブユニットは適正に動作する。
図1は、実施形態1に係るインクジェット式記録装置(以下、プリンターと称す)の構成を示す概略平面図である。プリンター1は、記録紙等の記録媒体Pの表面に対して液体状のインクを噴射して録媒体P上に画像等の記録または印刷を行う装置である。
なお、Y方向は「一方の面から他方の面に向かう方向」の一例である。さらに、Y方向から見ることは「一方の面から他方の面に向かう方向から透視した場合」の一例であり、以降、平面視と称す。また、Y方向を、Y(+)方向と称す場合がある。
図2は、図1のA−A’に沿った記録ヘッドの要部断面図である。図3は、図1のA−A’に沿ったバルブユニットの要部断面図である。
なお、記録ヘッド20の状態及びバルブユニット21の状態を、それぞれ分かりやすくするために、図2の座標軸(Y方向、Z方向)の向きと図3の座標軸(Y方向、Z方向)の向きとが異なる。詳しくは、90度回転させた場合の図3の座標軸(Y方向、Z方向)の向きが、図2の座標軸(Y方向、Z方向)の向きに一致する。
最初に、図2を参照して、記録ヘッド20の構成について説明する。
ヘッドケース25は、中空箱体状部材であり、その先端面(下面)に流路ユニット27が固定されている。ヘッドケース25の内部に形成された収容空部12内には、振動子ユニット26が収容されている。ヘッドケース25の内部には、その高さ方向を貫通してケース流路34が形成されている。ケース流路34は、バルブユニット21から供給されるインクを共通インク室40に導入するための流路であり、一方の端が共通インク室40に接続されている。また、ケース流路34の他方の端は、パッキン39を介してバルブユニット21のインク導出路(図示省略)に接続されている。
図3に示すように、バルブユニット21では、フィルム23と、第2流路部材50と、第1流路部材45と、フィルム22とがY方向に沿って順に配置され、それぞれ互いに固定または接着されている。さらに、第1流路部材45は、フィルム22側に配置される面45aと、第2流路部材50側に配置される面45bとを有している。フィルム22は、第1流路部材45に固定される面22aと、面22aと反対側の面22bとを有している。
なお、フィルム22は、「可撓性部材」の一例である。第1流路部材45の面45aは「第1面」の一例であり、第1流路部材45の面45bは「第2面」の一例である。フィルム22の面22aは「一方の面」の一例であり、フィルム22の面22bは「他方の面」の一例である。
なお、上述した凹部44及び凸部48は、「位置決めピン」の一例である。
なお、凹部44は第1流路部材45及び第2流路部材50の一方に設ければよく、凸部48は第1流路部材45及び第2流路部材50の他方に設ければよい。つまり、凸部48を第1流路部材45に設け、凹部44を第2流路部材50に設ける構成であってもよい。
さらに、フィルム22,23は、レーザー光を透過する。換言すれば、フィルム22,23は、レーザー光を透過する熱可塑性樹脂を含む。
バルブユニット21では、インクカートリッジ13からインク供給チューブ17を通じてインクがインク供給室51に加圧供給されているため、インク供給室51内のインクは加圧された状態にある。弁体53の本体54には、インク供給室51に供給されるインクの加圧力(インク供給室51内のインクに作用する圧力)が作用する。さらに、弁体53の本体54には、圧力室52内のインクに作用する圧力や受圧板57から付勢される力が作用する。インク供給室51内の圧力、圧力室52内のインクに作用する圧力、及び受圧板57から付勢される力などによって、弁体53の位置が制御される。
以下に、その詳細を説明する。
図4は、本実施形態に係るバルブユニットの製造方法を示す工程フローである。図5は、図3に対応する図であり、図4に示す工程フローの状態を示す模式図である。
以下、図4及び図5を参照し、本実施形態に係るバルブユニット21の製造方法を説明する。
なお、治工具100は、「固定部材」の一例である。
仮に、フィルム22のY方向の変位が不均一であると、フィルム22のY方向の変位によってインクの流路を開閉する弁体53の動作、すなわち弁体53のY方向に沿った往復移動が不均一になるおそれがある。本実施形態では、傾斜面122によってフィルム22のY(−)方向の変位が適正に制御されているので、バルブユニット21において、フィルム22のY方向の変位の均一性が高められ、弁体53が適正に動作し、インクの流路が適正に開閉されるようになる。
仮に、フィルム22に皺が生じると、フィルム22面内での剛性のばらつきが生じ、フィルムのY方向の変位が不均一になるおそれがある。本実施形態では、フィルム22に適正なテンションを付勢することで、フィルム22に皺を生じにくいので、バルブユニット21において、フィルム22面内での剛性のばらつきが抑制され、フィルム22のY方向の変位の均一性が高められ、弁体53が適正に動作し、インクの流路が適正に開閉されるようになる。
すなわち、第2部材120の傾斜面122は、フィルム22に付勢されるテンションを調整し、ステップS1において過剰なテンションが付勢されないように、フィルム22に付勢されるテンションを適正化する役割も有している。
仮に、第1流路部材45とフィルム22とが固定される部分に過剰な力が作用すると、フィルム22が第1流路部材45から剥がれる不具合が生じるおそれがある。本実施形態では、フィルム22を第2部材120の傾斜面122で支持することによって、第1流路部材45とフィルム22とが固定される部分に過剰な力が作用しないので、このような不具合を抑制することができる。
すなわち、平面視で、第1流路部材45と第2流路部材50とが固定される部分の内側に、第1流路部材45と第2流路部材50とを位置決めする位置決めピンが設けられた状態で、ステップS2の処理がなされる。
例えば、第2流路部材50と第1流路部材45とを上述したヒートツール200によって熱溶着すると、接着されない部分も加熱され、第2流路部材50及び第1流路部材45が熱変形するおそれがある。第2流路部材50をフィルム22,23と比べて肉厚の部材で構成しても、第2流路部材50と第1流路部材45とをレーザー溶着することによって、接着されない部分が加熱されにくくなり、第2流路部材50及び第1流路部材45の熱変形が抑制される。
1)治工具100(第1部材110、第2部材120)によって、第1流路部材45に対する受圧板57の位置を高精度に制御し、受圧板57を第1流路部材45の貫通口46の中央に高精度に配置することができる。
図6は、実施形態2に係るバルブユニットの製造方法の状態を説明する図である。詳しくは、図6は、図5(a)に対応する図であり、第1流路部材45及びフィルム22を接着する工程(ステップS1)を説明する図である。
以下、図6を参照し、本実施形態に係るバルブユニット21の製造方法を、実施形態1との相違点を中心に説明する。また、実施形態1と同一の構成部位については、同一の符号を附し、重複する説明を省略する。
治工具100は、実施形態1と同じであり、第1部材110と第2部材120とで構成される。
なお、弾性部222は、弾性を有する材料で構成されていればよく、上述したバネの他に弾性ゴムで構成されていてもよい。
図7は、実施形態3に係るバルブユニットの製造方法の状態を説明する図である。詳しくは、図7は、図5(a)に対応する図であり、第1流路部材45及びフィルム22を接着する工程(ステップS1)を説明する図である。
以下、図7を参照し、本実施形態に係るバルブユニット21の製造方法を、実施形態1との相違点を中心に説明する。また、実施形態1と同一の構成部位については、同一の符号を附し、重複する説明を省略する。
図8は、実施形態4に係るバルブユニットの製造方法の状態を説明する図である。詳しくは、図8は、図7に対応する図であり、第1流路部材45及びフィルム22を接着する工程(ステップS1)を説明する図である。
以下、図8を参照し、本実施形態に係るバルブユニット21の製造方法を、実施形態3との相違点を中心に説明する。また、実施形態3と同一の構成部位については、同一の符号を附し、重複する説明を省略する。
実施形態1乃至実施形態4では、ステップS1において、フィルム22を第1流路部材45の面45a(フィルム22と第1流路部材45との固定面)に対してY(−)方向に変位させ、フィルム22を第2部材120の傾斜面122に支持させている。ステップS1におけるフィルム22を変位させる方向は、Y(−)方向に限定されない。ステップS1におけるフィルム22を変位させる方向は、Y(+)方向であってもよい。すなわち、フィルム22を第1流路部材45の面45a(フィルム22と第1流路部材45との固定面)に対してY(+)方向に変位させ、フィルム22を第2部材120の傾斜面122に支持させてもよい。
実施形態3及び実施形態4では、ステップS1において、孔112から領域Rの空気を排気し、領域Rを負圧(大気に比べて低い圧力)にし、受圧板57を吸引することによってフィルム22をY(−)方向に変位させていた。フィルム22を変位させる方法は、領域Rに空気を供給し、領域Rを正圧(大気に比べて高い圧力)とし、受圧板57を加圧することによってフィルム22をY(+)方向に変位させる構成であってもよい。
フィルム22を変位させる方法は、押圧部材203,220によってフィルム22を押圧する方法や、フィルム22を吸引する方法に限定されない。例えば、静電気や磁力によってフィルム22を変位させてもよく、例えばバルーンを接触させて(バルーンによって押圧して)フィルム22を変位させてもよく、例えば空気を吹き付けてフィルム22を変位させてもよい。
第1流路部材45とフィルム22とを固定または接着する方法は、ヒートツールを用いた熱溶着やレーザー溶着に限定されず、例えば接着剤によって第1流路部材45とフィルム22とを固定または接着してもよい。
例えば、第1流路部材45とフィルム22との間に光硬化性樹脂(接着剤)を配置し、第1流路部材45とフィルム22との接着面に光を照射し、光硬化性樹脂(接着剤)を硬化させることで、第1流路部材45とフィルム22とを固定(接着)してもよい。光を照射して接着剤を硬化させる方法は、レーザー光を照射する方法と同様に、第1流路部材45とフィルム22とを固定(接着)する部分以外への熱の影響を抑制することができる。
第1流路部材45をレーザー光が吸収される部材で構成し、第2流路部材50をレーザー光が透過する部材で構成し、レーザー光Lを第2流路部材50の側から照射することで第1流路部材45と第2流路部材50とをレーザー溶着したが、これに限定されない。例えば、第2流路部材50をレーザー光が吸収される部材で構成し、第1流路部材45をレーザー光が透過する部材で構成し、レーザー光Lを第1流路部材45の側から照射することで第1流路部材45と第2流路部材50とをレーザー溶着する構成であってもよい。
すなわち、第1流路部材45と第2流路部材50との一方は、レーザー光Lを透過する透過部材であり、第1流路部材45と第2流路部材50との他方は、レーザー光Lを透過しない非透過部材であればよい。
Claims (8)
- バルブユニットの製造方法であって、
第1面及び第2面を貫通する貫通口を有する第1流路部材と可撓性部材とを固定し、前記貫通口の前記第1面側を前記可撓性部材により覆う工程と、
前記貫通口と連通する流路を前記可撓性部材の変位により開閉可能な弁体が貫通される孔を有する第2流路部材と、前記第1流路部材とを、前記貫通口の第2面側と前記孔とが連通された状態で固定する工程と、
を備え、
前記可撓性部材により覆う工程では、前記可撓性部材が治工具によって直接に支持された状態で、前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材とを固定することを特徴とするバルブユニットの製造方法。 - 前記可撓性部材には、受圧板が固定され、
前記可撓性部材により覆う工程では、前記受圧板が前記治工具によって支持された状態で、前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材とを固定することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のバルブユニットの製造方法。 - 前記可撓性部材により覆う工程では、前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材との固定面に対して前記可撓性部材を変位させた状態で、前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材とを固定することを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載のバルブユニットの製造方法。
- 前記可撓性部材は、前記第1流路部材に固定される一方の面と、前記一方の面と反対側の他方の面とを有し、
前記可撓性部材により覆う工程では、前記可撓性部材が前記治工具によって前記一方の面から前記他方の面に向かう方向に支持された状態で、
前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材とを固定することを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載のバルブユニットの製造方法。 - 前記可撓性部材により覆う工程では、前記一方の面の側からの吸引によって、前記可撓性部材を前記他方の面から前記一方の面に向かう方向に変位させた状態で、熱溶着によって前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材とを固定することを特徴とする請求項4に記載のバルブユニットの製造方法。
- 前記一方の面から前記他方の面に向かう方向から透視した場合に、
前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材とが固定される部分は、前記第1流路部材と前記第2流路部材とが固定される部分に重なることを特徴とする請求項4または5に記載のバルブユニットの製造方法。 - 前記一方の面から前記他方の面に向かう方向から透視した場合に、
前記第1流路部材と前記第2流路部材とが固定される部分の内側に、前記第1流路部材と前記第2流路部材とを位置決めする位置決めピンが設けられていることを特徴とする請求項4乃至6のいずれか1項に記載のバルブユニットの製造方法。 - 前記可撓性部材により覆う工程では、レーザー溶着によって前記可撓性部材と前記第1流路部材とを固定し、
前記第2流路部材と前記第1流路部材とを固定する工程では、レーザー溶着によって前記第1流路部材と前記第2流路部材とを固定することを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか1項に記載のバルブユニットの製造方法。
