図1(A)に、入力装置10の構成例を示す。入力装置10は、m本(mは2以上の整数)の行配線(行配線X1乃至Xm)と、n本(nは2以上の整数)の列配線(列配線Y1乃至Yn)と、回路11と、を有する。各行配線と各列配線とは、互いに交差するように配置される。また一つの行配線と一つの列配線との間には、それぞれ容量22が形成されている。入力装置10は、複数(m×n個)の容量22がマトリクス状に配置されたセンサアレイ21を有する。
続いて、回路11が行う駆動方法の例について説明する。以下では、本発明の一態様である、投影型相互容量方式を応用した駆動方法の例を説明する。
図3(A)には、行配線の本数mが偶数の場合の入力装置10の構成の例を示している。図3(A)では、4本の行配線(行配線X1乃至X4)を備える場合を示している。また図3(A)では、図1(A)と同様に4本の列配線(列配線Y1乃至Y4)を備える場合を示している。
図4(A)には、上記とは異なる駆動方法の例を示している。上記では複数の行配線のうち、偶数行と奇数行とで、それぞれ位相の反転した信号を入力する場合を示したが、ここでは同じ位相の信号を用いる場合の例を示している。
続いて、本発明の一態様の入力装置10と、画像を表示する表示パネルとを備える入出力装置であるタッチパネルの駆動方法の例について説明する。以下では、入力装置10と、表示パネルとを同期させて駆動させる方法の例について説明する。
以下では、入力装置10のより具体的な構成例について、図面を参照して説明する。
以下では、本発明の一態様の入力装置を備える入出力装置の例として、タッチパネルの構成例について、図面を参照して説明する。
図10(A)は、タッチパネル100の斜視概略図である。また図10(B)は、図10(A)を展開した斜視概略図である。なお明瞭化のため、代表的な構成要素のみを示している。また図10(B)では、一部の構成要素(基板30、基板71等)を破線で輪郭のみ明示している。
続いて、タッチパネル100の断面構成の例について、図面を参照して説明する。図11は、タッチパネル100の断面概略図である。図11では、図10(A)におけるFPC73を含む領域、駆動回路82を含む領域、表示部81を含む領域、及びFPC50を含む領域のそれぞれの断面を示している。
基板71には、トランジスタ201、トランジスタ202、トランジスタ203、表示素子204、容量素子205、接続部206、配線207等が設けられている。
基板30の基板72側には、電極31及び電極32が設けられている。ここでは、電極31が、電極33及びブリッジ電極34を有する場合の例を示している。図11中の交差部87に示すように、電極32と電極33は同一平面上に形成されている。また電極32及び電極33を覆う絶縁層161上に、ブリッジ電極34が設けられている。ブリッジ電極34は、絶縁層161に設けられた開口を介して、電極32を挟むように設けられる2つの電極33と電気的に接続している。
以下では、上記に示す各構成要素について説明する。
図12には、図11とは一部の構成の異なるタッチパネル100の断面構成例を示している。なお、上記と重複する部分については説明を省略し、相違点について説明する。
図13に示すタッチパネルは、基板111と基板112を有する。基板111と基板72とは接着層152により接着され、基板111と基板112とは、接着層153により接着されている。
図14に示すタッチパネルは、基板113を有する。基板113と基板72とは接着層152により接着されている。
図15に示すタッチパネルは、基板72の基板71側とは反対側の面に、タッチセンサを構成する電極等が設けられている。具体的には、基板72上にブリッジ電極34と、ブリッジ電極34の一部を覆う絶縁層161と、絶縁層161上に電極32、電極33、配線41(図示しない)、配線42等が設けられている。
図16には、図15で例示したタッチセンサの構成と、図12で例示した塗り分け方式が適用された発光素子を表示素子204に用いたタッチパネルの構成と、を組み合わせた場合の例を示している。また図16では、遮光層232が設けられていない場合の例を示している。
図17に示すタッチパネルは、基板72の基板71側の面に、タッチセンサを構成する電極等が設けられている。具体的には、基板72上に電極32、電極33、配線41(図示しない)、配線42等と、これらを覆う絶縁層161と、絶縁層161上にブリッジ電極34等が設けられている。
図18には、図17に示したタッチパネルの変形例を示す。
図19に示すタッチパネルは、タッチセンサを構成する電極等と、基板72との間に遮光層232が設けられている。具体的には、基板72上に遮光層232が設けられ、遮光層232を覆って絶縁層234が設けられている。絶縁層234上には、電極32、電極33、配線41(図示しない)、配線42と、これらを覆う絶縁層161と、絶縁層161上にブリッジ電極34等が設けられている。また、ブリッジ電極34及び絶縁層161上に、絶縁層233が設けられ、絶縁層233上に着色層231が設けられている。
図20には、図19に示したタッチパネルの変形例を示す。
図21は、表示パネル70として液晶表示装置を適用した場合のタッチパネルの断面構成例である。図21に示すタッチパネルは、表示素子208として液晶素子が適用されている。また、タッチパネルは、偏光板131、偏光板132、及びバックライト133を有している。
図22は、表示パネル70として液晶表示装置を適用した場合のタッチパネルの断面構成例である。図22に示すタッチパネルは、偏光板132がタッチセンサを構成する電極等よりも視認側に配置されている。具体的には、電極31、電極32等が形成された基板114が接着層152により基板72に接着され、偏光板132が接着層155により基板114に接着されている。また、偏光板132よりも視認側には、接着層156によって偏光板132に接着された保護基板130が設けられている。
図23は、表示パネルとして液晶表示装置を適用した場合のタッチパネルの断面構成例である。図23に示すタッチパネルは、タッチセンサを構成する電極等が基板72の基板71側の面に形成されている例を示している。具体的には、基板72上に電極32、電極33、配線41(図示しない)、配線42等と、これらを覆う絶縁層161と、絶縁層161上にブリッジ電極34等が設けられている。また、タッチセンサを構成する電極等を覆って絶縁層233が設けられている。さらに、絶縁層233上に着色層231、遮光層232等が設けられている。
図24は、表示パネルとして液晶表示装置を適用した場合のタッチパネルの断面構成例である。図24に示すタッチパネルは、タッチセンサを構成する電極等が基板72の基板71側の面とは反対側の面に設けられている例を示している。具体的には、基板72の着色層231等が設けられている面とは反対側の面上に、ブリッジ電極34と、ブリッジ電極34の一部を覆う絶縁層161と、絶縁層161上に電極31、電極32、配線41(図示しない)、配線42等が設けられている。また、基板72上には接着層152によって偏光板132が貼り付けられ、偏光板132上には接着層156によって保護基板130が貼り付けられている。
上記では、タッチセンサを構成する電極を、表示素子等が設けられる基板とは異なる基板上に形成した場合を示したが、表示素子等が設けられる基板上に、タッチセンサを構成する一対の電極のいずれか一方、または両方を設ける構成としてもよい。
ここで、可撓性を有するタッチパネルを作製する方法について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の電子機器及び照明装置について、図面を用いて説明する。

Claims (8)
- m本(mは2以上の整数)の行配線と、n本(nは2以上の整数)の列配線と、回路と、を有し、
前記行配線の各々と、前記列配線の各々との間には、それぞれ容量が形成され、
前記回路は、前記行配線の各々に信号を出力する機能と、前記列配線の各々の電位または電流を検知する機能と、を有し、
前記回路は、第i(iは1以上m−1以下の整数)の行配線に第iの信号を入力し、第i+1の行配線に第i+1の信号を入力し、
前記第iの信号は、第1の電位から第2の電位に変化する第1の時刻と、前記第2の電位から前記第1の電位に変化する第2の時刻と、が交互に繰り返される期間を含む信号であり、
前記第i+1の信号は、第3の電位から第4の電位に変化する第3の時刻と、前記第4の電位から前記第3の電位に変化する第4の時刻と、が交互に繰り返される期間を含む信号であり、
前記第3の時刻は、前記第1の時刻と、前記第2の時刻との間の期間に位置し、
前記第1の時刻から前記第2の時刻までの時間が、フレーム期間と一致することを特徴とする、
入力装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記第1の時刻から前記第2の時刻までの時間と、前記第3の時刻から前記第4の時刻までの時間と、が等しいことを特徴とする、

前記第1の電位と前記第3の電位は共に等しく、

前記行配線、及び前記列配線は、遮光性を有する導電性材料を含み、且つ幅が50nm以上100μm以下である領域を有する、
入力装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項7のいずれか一に記載の入力装置と、表示パネルと、を備え、
前記表示パネルは、表示素子及びトランジスタを有する、
入出力装置。
