Description
[1]液晶表示装置10の全体構成
図1は、第1実施形態に係る液晶表示装置10の平面図である。図2は、図1のA−A´線に沿った液晶表示装置10の断面図である。図3は、図1のB−B´線に沿った液晶表示装置10の断面図である。
次に、前述したカラーフィルター17の詳細な構成について説明する。図4は、図1に示した赤フィルター17R、緑フィルター17G、及び青フィルター17Bを抽出した平面図である。
次に、比較例について説明する。図5は、比較例に係る液晶表示装置の平面図である。図6は、図5のB−B´線に沿った液晶表示装置の断面図である。
以上詳述したように第1実施形態では、液晶表示装置10は、CF基板11に設けられた複数のカラーフィルター(複数の赤フィルター17R、複数の緑フィルター17G、及び複数の青フィルター17B)と、CF基板11及びTFT基板12間に設けられ、液晶層13の厚さを調整する複数のスペーサー18とを備える。赤フィルター17Rは、Y方向に延在する第1部分17R−1と、第1部分17R−1に接続され、X方向に突出する第2部分17R−2とを備える。緑フィルター17G、及び青フィルター17Bも赤フィルター17Rと同じ形状を有する。そして、スペーサー18は、赤フィルター17R、緑フィルター17G、及び青フィルター17Bの少なくとも1つの第2部分に設けられる。
第1実施形態では、赤フィルター17R、緑フィルター17G、及び青フィルター17Bの形状を同じにしている。第2実施形態では、隣接するカラーフィルターを異なる形状で構成しつつ、1層のカラーフィルター上にスペーサーを配置するようにしている。
第3実施形態では、液晶層13の厚さを調整するメインスペーサーに加えて、メインスペーサーより高さが低いサブスペーサーを設けるようにしている。
Claims (7)
- 対向配置された第1及び第2基板と、
前記第1及び第2基板間に挟まれた液晶層と、
第1方向に並ぶようにして前記第1基板に設けられ、色の異なる第1及び第2カラーフィルターと、
前記第1及び第2基板間に設けられ、前記液晶層の厚さを調整する第1スペーサーと、
を具備し、
前記第1カラーフィルターは、前記第1方向に交差する第2方向に延在する第1部分と、前記第1部分に接続され、前記第1部分より幅の広い第2部分とを備え、
前記第2カラーフィルターは、前記第2方向に延在する第3部分と、前記第3部分に接続され、前記第3部分より幅の狭い第4部分とを備え、
前記第1スペーサーは、前記第2部分に設けられることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2部分は、前記第1部分の第1側面より前記第1方向に突出した第1凸部と、前記第1部分の第2側面より前記第1方向に突出した第2凸部とを有し、
前記第4部分は、前記第3部分の第1側面より前記第1方向に窪んだ第1凹部と、前記第3部分の第2側面より前記第1方向に窪んだ第2凹部とを有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1スペーサーは、前記第2部分の前記第1方向における端部に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1スペーサーは、隣接する画素の境界部に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2基板に設けられたスイッチング素子をさらに具備し、
前記第1スペーサーは、前記スイッチング素子が形成される領域以外に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1基板と前記第1及び第2カラーフィルターとの間に設けられ、画素の開口領域を区画する遮光膜をさらに具備し、
前記第1スペーサーは、前記遮光膜の上方に配置されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1カラーフィルターは、複数の第1部分と複数の第2部分とが交互に繰り返して構成され、
前記複数の第2部分の1つに設けられ、前記第1スペーサーより低い第2スペーサーをさらに具備することを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
