Description
この非仮出願は、2009年4月7日に出願された米国特許出願第12/419,326号の一部継続出願である。米国特許出願12/419,326号は、2008年3月14日に出願された米国特許出願第12/075,858号の一部継続出願である。米国特許出願第12/075,858号は、2007年3月15日に出願された米国仮出願第60/918,164号の優先権を主張する。各出願は、参照することにより本明細書に援用される。
本発明は、概して、パッシブワイヤレスセンサを読取ることに関し、より具体的には、パッシブワイヤレスセンサを励起し、パッシブワイヤレスセンサからデータを感知するリーダ回路および方法に関する。
共振回路技術を利用するパッシブワイヤレスセンサシステムが公知である。これらのシステムは、励起および読取回路と遠隔通信するパッシブワイヤレスセンサを利用する。多くの場合、ワイヤレスセンサは、人間の体内等の特定の位置にインプラントされ、感知パラメータを検出し、報告する。感知パラメータは、ワイヤレスセンサの共振回路の周波数を変化させる。リーダ装置は、ワイヤレスセンサの共振周波数をサンプリングし、感知パラメータを判定する。
ワイヤレスセンサに接続されるリーダ装置が提供される。ワイヤレスセンサの共振周波数は、感知パラメータに比例して変化する。リーダは、短いエネルギーのパルスを固定周波数で送信し、その送信が終了した直後に、ワイヤレスセンサにその共振周波数の又はこれに近似する周波数でリンギングさせる。リーダは、センサのリング信号を受信し、増幅し、そしてその周波数を計測する。一実施形態では、リーダは、センサのリング周波数にロックする位相同期回路(PLL)に信号を送信することによって、この計測を実行する。PLLがリング周波数にロックすると、PLLの電圧制御発振器(「VCO」)は、VCOの周波数をロックされた周波数に維持するホールドモードにされる。VCOの周波数は、センサの共振周波数を判定するためにカウントされる。あるいは、VCOの制御電圧自体がサンプリングされ、既知の相関に基づいてセンサの共振周波数を判定するために用いられる。VCOの制御電圧がサンプリングされる時、その電圧のサンプリングが十分に高速である場合には、VCOの周波数はロックされる必要がなくてもよい。さらに、デジタルスペクトル分析を含む周波数判定方法およびシステムも開示される。
センサ12と遠隔通信するリーダ10を含むパッシブワイヤレスセンサシステムが提供される。リーダ10は、センサ12の共振周波数の又はこれに近似する無線周波数(RF)パルス等の信号を送信することによって、センサ12を励起することができる(図1参照)。センサ12は、リーダ10からの励起パルスに応答して、短時間リング信号を放射し得る。
受信タイマ46は、電力制御信号62に対する適切なシーケンスおよび周期を確立して、受信回路28を適切にシーケンス処理するように構成されている。
Claims (13)
- 遠隔の位置から計測結果を取得するシステムであって、
少なくとも1つの感知パラメータに比例して、その共振周波数を変化させるように構成されているワイヤレスセンサと、
前記ワイヤレスセンサへ少なくとも1つの励起パルスを固定周波数で送信し、
前記励起パルスに応答して前記ワイヤレスセンサから少なくとも1つの応答信号を受信し、
前記少なくとも1つの応答信号と電圧制御発振器の出力との間の周波数及び位相誤差を判定し、
前記判定の結果得られる信号をサンプル・アンド・ホールド誤差増幅器でサンプリングし、
前記サンプリングされた信号で前記電圧制御発振器の周波数を制御して、前記少なくとも1つの応答信号の周波数に適合するように前記電圧制御発振器から出力されるカウント信号の周波数が調整された、前記カウント信号を取得し、
前記サンプル・アンド・ホールド誤差増幅器の出力をホールドして前記カウント信号の周波数を前記少なくとも1つの応答信号の周波数に適合するように維持し、
前記カウント信号を周波数カウンタでカウントすることで前記少なくとも1つの応答信号の周波数を判定する、
ように構成されているリーダと
を備え、
前記固定周波数は、前記ワイヤレスセンサの動作周波数の範囲内において、前記少なくとも1つの応答信号の振幅が検知閾値を超えるように設定されている、
システム。 - 前記ワイヤレスセンサは、少なくとも1つのインダクタおよび少なくとも1つのコンデンサを有し、
さらに、前記少なくとも1つのインダクタおよび前記少なくとも1つのコンデンサの少なくとも一方は、前記少なくとも1つの感知パラメータに応答してその値を変化させる、
請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記ワイヤレスセンサは、前記感知パラメータによって生じる周波数の前記変化に対応した帯域幅外の固定共振周波数を有する追加の共振回路をさらに有し、
前記リーダは、前記追加の共振回路の前記固定共振周波数で第2の励起パルスを送信するようにさらに構成されており、
前記リーダは、前記追加の共振回路から応答を受信するようにさらに構成されており、
前記リーダは、前記少なくとも1つの応答信号をキャリブレーションするために、前記追加の共振回路からの前記応答の周波数を判定するようにさらに構成されている、
請求項1に記載のシステム。 - 前記少なくとも1つの励起パルスは、狭帯域幅、短時間持続、予め定められた固定周波数、及びその中心が13.56MHzである、の少なくとも1つである、

前記少なくとも1つの励起パルスを前記固定周波数で送信し、前記少なくとも1つの応答信号を受信するように構成されている少なくとも1つのアンテナと、
受信した前記少なくとも1つの応答信号を増幅する受信回路と、
増幅された前記少なくとも1つの応答信号を時間ドメインでのデジタル表現に変換するデジタルサンプリング回路と、
前記少なくとも1つの応答信号の前記デジタル表現を周波数ドメインの表現に変換するスペクトル分析回路と、
前記ワイヤレスセンサの感知パラメータの値を判定するために、前記周波数ドメインの表現を処理する周波数ドメイン回路と
を備え、
前記固定周波数は、前記ワイヤレスセンサの動作周波数の範囲内において、前記少なくとも1つの応答信号の振幅が検知閾値を超えるように設定されている、
