を含む、方法。 - 前記不揮発性硫化リチウムは、硫化リチウム、フッ化リチウム、またはその組み合わせを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記リチウム含有電池は、リチウム含有電池を収容する容器を備える、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記容器は、密封可能な容器である、請求項3に記載の方法。
- リチウム含有電池の熱暴走を抑制するための方法であって、前記方法は、
a.リチウム含有電池を包囲するケーシングの内部区画に、第1の開口部を通して、六フッ化硫黄を加えること、
b.第2の開口部を通して、前記内部区画から酸素を除去すること、および
c.前記六フッ化硫黄を、前記リチウム含有電池から放出された電解質を含むリチウムと反応させて不揮発性リチウム含有固体を生成すること、
を含む、方法。 - 前記リチウム含有電池は、単一のリチウムイオン電池セル、または電池パックの内側に収容される複数の個々のリチウムイオン電池セルを備える電池パックを備えるリチウムイオン電池を備える、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の開口部は入口開口部を備え、および前記第2の開口部は出口開口部を備える、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記内部区画に六フッ化硫黄を加える前に、前記内部区画を排気することをさらに含む、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記内部区画に六フッ化硫黄を加えた後に、前記第1の開口部を密閉することをさらに含む、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記ケーシングは、外部負荷に電力を供給するために、前記リチウム含有電池との電気的接続を形成するように配置された1つ以上の導線をさらに備える、請求項5に記載の方法。
- リチウム材料を含む容器を不活性化する方法であって、
a.密閉可能な容器の内側に、少なくとも1つのリチウムイオン電池を含む少なくとも1つのリチウム材料を配置すること、
b.第1の開口部を通して、前記密閉可能な容器の内部区画に六フッ化硫黄を加えること、
c.第2の開口部を通して、前記内部区画から空気を除去すること、
d.前記六フッ化硫黄を前記少なくとも1つのリチウム材料と反応させて不揮発性リチウム含有固体を生成すること
を含む、方法。 - 前記密閉可能な容器は、前記内部区画と連通する熱交換器を備える、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つの開口部は、弁または弁付ポートを備える、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記内部区画に六フッ化硫黄を加える前に、前記内部区画を排気することをさらに含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- 前記内部区画は、出口開口部を通して真空を引くことにより排気され、六フッ化硫黄は、入口開口部を通して内部表面に加えられる、請求項14に記載の方法。
