・上記図1、2において示した構造
・液晶層厚:4μm
・液晶材料:Δn=0.0914、Δε=−5.1、カイラル材の添加なし
・プレティルト角:89.5度(第1基板、第2基板ともに)
・電圧印加時の液晶層の層厚方向の中央における配向方向:6時方位(270°方向)
・1/2波長板:面内位相差265nmの正のAプレート
・1波長板:面内位相差540nmの正のAプレート
・各波長板の材質:ポリカーボネート
・光源:標準光源D65
・シミュレータ:シンテック製液晶表示器シミュレータLCDMASTER
・上記図3、4において示した構造
・その他は実施例1と同条件
・実施例1と同条件の液晶層、偏光板を備え、かつ第1基板と第1偏光板の間、第2基板と第2偏光板の間にそれぞれ1/4波長板を配置した構造であり、各1/4波長板は互いに遅相軸が平行、かつ当該遅相軸が電圧印加時の液晶層の層厚方向の中央における配向方向に対して略直交して配置
・各1/4波長板:面内位相差140nmの正のAプレート
・その他は実施例1と同条件
・実施例1と同条件の液晶層、偏光板を備え、かつ第1基板と第1偏光板の間に1/2波長板を配置した構造であり、1/2波長板は遅相軸が電圧印加時の液晶層の層厚方向の中央における配向方向に対して略直交して配置
・1/2波長板:面内位相差280nmの正のAプレート
・その他は実施例1と同条件

Claims (4)
- ノーマリーホワイト表示の液晶表示装置であって、
対向配置される第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板の間に配置された垂直配向又は略垂直配向の液晶層と、
前記第1基板の外側に配置された第1偏光板と、
前記第2基板の外側に配置された第2偏光板と、
前記第1基板と前記第1偏光板との間に配置された第1光学板と、
前記第1基板と前記第1偏光板との間に配置された第2光学板と、
を含み、
前記第1偏光板と前記第2偏光板の各吸収軸は互いに略直交して配置され、かつ当該各吸収軸は電界印加時における前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央での配向方向に対して略45°の角度をなして配置されており、
前記第1光学板は、面内位相差Re1が145nm〜385nmであり、面内遅相軸が前記第1偏光板の吸収軸に対して略45°の角度をなして配置され、かつ電界印加時における前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央での配向方向に対して略平行に配置されており、
前記第2光学板は、面内位相差Re2が200nm≦(Re2−Re1)≦300nmの関係を有しており、面内遅相軸が前記第1偏光板の吸収軸に対して略45°の角度をなして配置され、かつ電界印加時における前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央での配向方向に対して略直交に配置されている、

対向配置される第1基板及び第2基板と、
前記第1基板と前記第2基板の間に配置された垂直配向又は略垂直配向の液晶層と、
前記第1基板の外側に配置された第1偏光板と、
前記第2基板の外側に配置された第2偏光板と、
前記第1基板と前記第1偏光板との間に配置された第1光学板と、
前記第2基板と前記第2偏光板との間に配置された第2光学板と、
を含み、
前記第1偏光板と前記第2偏光板の各吸収軸は互いに略直交して配置され、かつ当該各吸収軸は電界印加時における前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央での配向方向に対して略45°の角度をなして配置されており、
前記第1光学板は、面内位相差Re1が145nm〜385nmであり、面内遅相軸が前記第1偏光板の吸収軸に対して略45°の角度をなして配置され、かつ電界印加時における前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央での配向方向に対して略平行に配置されており
前記第2光学板は、面内位相差Re2が200nm≦(Re2−Re1)≦300nmの関係を有しており、面内遅相軸が前記第2偏光板の吸収軸に対して略45°の角度をなして配置され、かつ電界印加時における前記液晶層の層厚方向の略中央での配向方向に対して略直交に配置されている、
