Description
nとmは、それぞれ独立的に1〜6の整数である。
本発明において、「ビニレン基」は、−CH=CH−と定義され、「ビニル基」は、CH2=CH−と定義される。〕
R1〜R4のうち少なくとも一つはビニル基を含み、残りはそれぞれ独立的に水素、ハロゲン、ハロゲンに置換されるか非置換されたC1〜C6のアルキル基、C6〜C12のアリール基、C2〜C6のアルケニル基、またはスルホネート基である。〕
本発明において、前記第1正極活物質と第2正極活物質との混合重量比は、第1正極活物質:第2正極活物質=1:1〜9:1であることが望ましい。
第二に、電解液に、前述した特定の添加剤を用いて電解液の伝導度を増加させ、組み立てられた電池の界面抵抗及び初期容量を改善するなどの電池の諸般性能を優秀に維持して高性能の電池要求を満たすことができ、特に電極表面に特定の被膜を形成して電池の高温保存時、気体発生を抑制することで電池の膨張現像を大幅改善することができる。
前記化学式LixCoO2で示される第1正極活物質は、コバルトの一部がその他の元素に置換(ドープ)されない形態で使われる。
本発明による第2正極活物質をさらに具体的に説明すれば、以下のようである。
本発明による正極活物質は、当分野における通常の方法によって導電材、バインダー及び有機溶媒と混合して集電体に塗布することによって正極を形成し得る。
本発明において、前述のジニトリル系エーテル化合物は、下記の化学式1のように示される。

R1〜R4のうち少なくとも一つはビニル基を含み、残りはそれぞれ独立的に水素、ハロゲン、ハロゲンに置換されるか非置換されたC1〜C6のアルキル基、C6〜C12のアリール基、C2〜C6のアルケニル基、またはスルホネート基である。
負極活物質としては、通常リチウムイオンが吸蔵及び放出可能な炭素材、リチウム金属、珪素またはすずなどを使うことができ、リチウムに対する電位が2V未満であるTiO2、SnO2のような金属酸化物も使用可能である。望ましくは、炭素材を用いることができ、低結晶性炭素及び高結晶性炭素などいずれも使われ得る。低結晶性炭素としては、軟化炭素(soft carbon) 及び硬化炭素(hard carbon)が代表的であり、高結晶性炭素としては、天然黒鉛、キッシュ黒鉛(Kish graphite)、熱分解炭素(pyrolytic carbon)、メソフェーズピッチ系炭素繊維(mesophase pitch based carbon fiber)、メソカーボンマイクロビーズ(meso−carbon microbeads)、メソフェーズピッチ(mesophase pitches)、及び石油と石炭系コークス(petroleum or coal tar pitch derived cokes)などの高温焼成炭素が代表的である。ここで、負極は決着剤を含み得、決着剤としては、ビニリデンフルオライド−ヘキサフルオロプロピレンコポリマー(PVDF−co−HFP)、ポリビニリデンフルオライド(polyvinylidenefluoride)、ポリアクリロニトリル(polyacrylonitrile)、ポリメチルメタクリレート(polymethylmethacrylate)など、多様な種類のバインダー高分子が使われ得る。
1−1:正極の製造
単一相の構造として約15〜20μmのD50を有するLiCoO2と、約1〜2μmの微小粒子の凝集体である約5〜8μmのD50を有するLiNi0.53Mn0.27Co0.2O2を7:3の重量比で混合して正極活物質を製造した。
1−2:電解液の製造
負極活物質として人造黒鉛を使う負極を製造した後、ポリエチレン分離膜に前記実施例1−1で製造した正極と前記負極を形成した。その後、通常の方法でリチウムポリマー電池を製造し、アルミニウムラミネート包装材で組み立てられた電池内に前記実施例1−2で製造した電解液を注入した。
エチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリルの含量を5重量%使うことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法でリチウムポリマー電池を製造した。
ビニレンカーボネート(VC)3重量%の代わり、ビニルエチレンカーボネート(VEC)2重量%を使い、エチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリルの含量を5重量%を使うことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法でリチウムポリマー電池を製造した。
電解液にエチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリルを添加しないことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法でリチウムポリマー電池を製造した。
電解液にエチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリルの代わり、類似のジニトリル化合物であるスクシノニトリルを5重量%使うことを除いては、実施例 1と同様の方法でリチウムポリマー電池を製造した。
電解液にビニレンカーボネート(VC)を使わないことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法でリチウムポリマー電池を製造した。
正極活物質としてLiNi0.53Mn0.27Co0.2O2のみを使い、電解液にエチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリルの含量を5重量%使うことを除いては、実施例1と同様の方法でリチウムポリマー電池を製造した。
実施例1、2及び比較例1、2、3、4で製造された各電池を、4.2Vの満充電状態、90℃で4時間保存し、初期の厚さ及び保存後の厚さの変化をそれぞれ測定し、その結果を下記の表1及び図2に示した。
<充放電サイクル特性の評価>
各電池を45℃の温度環境で1C=980mAの定電流で充電し、電池の電圧が4.2Vとなった後は4.2Vの定電圧で充電電流値が50mAとなるまで1回目の充電を行った。この1回目の充電を行った電池を、1Cの定電流で電池電圧が3Vに至るまで放電を行い、1サイクル目の放電容量を求めた。続いて、このような充放電を500サイクル繰り返して実施し、その結果、1サイクル目の放電容量に対する500サイクル目の放電容量の比である放電容量維持率(%)を下記の表1に示した。その中で、実施例2及び比較例2の高温充放電サイクル特性を図2に示した。
下記の表1において、厚さ変化(Δt)は、比較例2の厚さ増加を100%として相対値で示し、放電容量維持率(%)は、下記の式1で計算して示した。
放電容量維持率(%)=[500サイクル目の放電容量]/[1サイクル目の放電容量]×100 [式1]
図2によれば、比較例2の電池に比べ、エチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリルを添加した実施例2の電池は、高温サイクル特性に優れることが分かる。
Claims (6)
- リチウム二次電池であって、
正極、負極、前記正極と前記負極との間に介された分離膜、及び非水電解液を備えてなり、
前記正極が、第1正極活物質LixCoO2(式中、0.5<x<1.3である。)と、
第2正極活物質LixMyO2〔式中、Mは、Ni1-a-bMnaCob(式中、0.05≦a≦0.4;0.1≦b≦0.4;0.4≦1−a−b≦0.7である。)であり、x+y=2であり、0.95≦x≦1.05である。〕との混合物を含む正極活物質を備えてなり、
前記非水電解液が、イオン化可能なリチウム塩及び有機溶媒を含んでなり、
前記非水電解液100重量部に対して、
(a)ビニル基を含む化合物1重量部〜10重量部と、
(b)エチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリル0.1重量部〜10重量部とを含んでなり、
前記(a)ビニル基を含む化合物が、ビニル基を含むアクリレート系化合物、ビニル基を含むスルホネート系化合物及びビニル基を含むエチレンカーボネート系化合物からなる群より選択される何れか一種又は二種以上の混合物であることを特徴とする、リチウム二次電池。 - 前記ビニル基を含む化合物が、下記化学式2で表される化合物であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載のリチウム二次電池。
R1〜R4のうち少なくとも一つは、ビニル基を含んでなり、残りはそれぞれ独立的に水素、ハロゲン、ハロゲンに置換されるか非置換されるC1〜C6のアルキル基、C6〜C12のアリール基、C2〜C6のアルケニル基、又はスルホネート基である。〕 - 前記第1正極活物質と第2正極活物質との混合重量比が、1:1〜9:1であることを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載のリチウム二次電池。
- 前記エチレングリコールビスプロピオニトリルと、前記ビニル基を含む化合物との混合重量比が、1:0.5〜5であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3の何れか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池。
- 前記リチウム塩の陰イオンが、F-、Cl-、Br-、I-、NO3 -、N(CN)2 -、BF4 -、ClO4 -、PF6 -、(CF3)2PF4 -、(CF3)3PF3 -、(CF3)4PF2 -、(CF3)5PF-、(CF3)6P-、CF3SO3 -、CF3CF2SO3 -、(CF3SO2)2N-、(FSO2)2N-、CF3CF2(CF3)2CO-、(CF3SO2)2CH-、(SF5)3C-、(CF3SO2)3C-、CF3(CF2)7SO3 -、CF3CO2 -、CH3CO2 -、SCN-及び(CF3CF2SO2)2N-からなる群より選択される何れか一つであることを特徴とする、請求項1〜4の何れか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池。
- 前記有機溶媒が、プロピレンカーボネート、エチレンカーボネート、ジエチルカーボネート、ジメチルカーボネート、エチルメチルカーボネート、メチルプロピルカーボネート、ジプロピルカーボネート、ジメチルスルホキシド、アセトニトリル、ジメトキシエタン、ジエトキシエタン、ビニレンカーボネート、スルホラン、ガンマ−ブチロラクトン、プロピレンスルファイド及びテトラハイドロフランからなる群より選択される何れか一種又は二種以上の混合物であることを特徴とする、請求項1〜5の何れか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池。
