Description
可撓性外管であって、近位端と、該外管に沿って前記近位端まで延びる流体流管腔と、該管腔と連通する壁を貫通する少なくとも1つの径方向孔とを有し、該管壁に隣接するとともに該管壁に沿って前記近位端まで延びるチャネルを更に画定する可撓性外管と、
前記チャネルの長さに沿って延びるととともに前記近位端から出る、前記チャネル内の深部電極であって、前記可撓性外管に沿って露出した離間した電気接点を有する深部電極とを含む。
(1)(a)可撓性外管12であって、近位端22と、外管12に沿って近位端22まで延びる第1の管腔14と、管腔14と連通する壁を貫通する少なくとも1つの径方向孔16とを有し、管の外壁面20に隣接するとともに外壁面20に沿って近位端22まで延びる第2の管腔18を更に画定する可撓性外管12と、(b)第2の管腔18の長さに沿って延びるとともに近位端22から出る、第2の管腔18内の深部電極24であって、管12に沿って露出した離間した電気接点26を有する深部電極24とを含むカテーテルアセンブリ10を準備するステップと、
(2)カテーテルアセンブリ10を患者の脳に挿入し、それにより電気的な検知と流体の流れを同時に促すステップと、
(3)カテーテルアセンブリ10が患者の脳内にある間に、深部電極24を第2の管腔18から引き抜き、それにより、電気的な検知をもはや目的としなくなった後での流体の流れを可能にするステップとを含む。
Claims (26)
- 患者の頭蓋内治療に用いるカテーテルアセンブリであって、
可撓性外管と深部電極とを含み、
前記可撓性外管は、近位端と、該外管に沿って前記近位端まで延びる第1の管腔と、該管腔と連通する壁を貫通する少なくとも1つの径方向孔とを有し、前記可撓性外管は、該外管の外壁面に隣接するとともに該外壁面に沿って前記近位端まで延びる第2の管腔を更に画定し、
前記第1の管腔及び前記第2の管腔の断面は円形であり、前記第2の管腔のサイズは前記第1の管腔のサイズよりも小さく、
前記外管の前記外壁面は、滑らかであるとともに、前記第1の管腔の表面に対して平行な大きい方の円筒部分と、前記第2の管腔の表面に対して平行な小さい方の円筒部分と、前記大きい方の円筒部分と前記小さい方の円筒部分との間の両側に遷移部分とを有し、
前記深部電極は、前記第2の管腔の長さに沿って延びるとともに前記近位端から出るように前記第2の管腔内に配置されるとともに、前記可撓性外管に沿って露出した離間した電気接点を有し、
それによって、電気的な検知と流体の流れとを同時に促すことを特徴とするカテーテルアセンブリ。 - 前記外管には、前記深部電極の前記電気接点と位置合わせされた窓が貫設されている、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管に沿って該外管の回りに複数の径方向孔がある、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管には、前記深部電極の前記電気接点と位置合わせされた窓が貫設されている、請求項3に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管は閉じた遠位端を有する、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 患者の脳への挿入時に該挿入の目的から前記第1の管腔内に収納される剛性スタイレットを更に含み、該スタイレットは、前記カテーテルアセンブリの挿入後に取外し可能である、請求項5に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管には、前記深部電極の前記電気接点と位置合わせされた窓が貫設されている、請求項6に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管に沿って該外管の回りに複数の径方向孔がある、請求項6に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管には、前記深部電極の前記電気接点と位置合わせされた窓が貫設されている、請求項8に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 治療時に前記近位端において前記第1の管腔に挿入されるルアーフィッティングを更に含み、該ルアーフィッティングは、前記カテーテルアセンブリをドレナージシステムと接続するコネクタである、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管には、前記深部電極の前記電気接点と位置合わせされた窓が貫設されている、請求項10に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管に沿って該外管の回りに複数の径方向孔がある、請求項10に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管には、前記深部電極の前記電気接点と位置合わせされた窓が貫設されている、請求項12に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記深部電極に沿った前記電気接点は、前記窓内に少なくとも部分的に延びることによって、脳組織との該電気接点の電気的な接触を促すような直径を有する、請求項2に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記深部電極に沿った前記電気接点は、前記外壁面と面一である、請求項14に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 各遷移部分は断面が線形である、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記可撓性外管の最大の横寸法は、5.0ミリメートルを上回らず、最小の横寸法は、1.0ミリメートルを下回らない、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記第2の管腔内の前記深部電極は、取外し可能であることによって、電気的な検知をもはや目的としなくなった後での流体の流れを可能にする、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。

前記流体流管腔及び前記チャネルの断面は円形であり、前記チャネルのサイズは前記流体流管腔のサイズよりも小さく、
前記外管の前記外壁面は、滑らかであるとともに、前記流体流管腔の表面に対して平行な大きい方の円筒部分と、前記チャネルの表面に対して平行な小さい方の円筒部分と、前記大きい方の円筒部分と前記小さい方の円筒部分との間の両側に遷移部分とを有し、
前記深部電極は、前記チャネルの長さに沿って延びるととともに前記近位端から出るように前記チャネル内に配置されるとともに、前記可撓性外管に沿って露出した離間した電気接点を有することを特徴とするカテーテルアセンブリ。 - 前記外管には、前記深部電極の前記電気接点と位置合わせされた窓が貫設されている、請求項19に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記外管に沿って該外管の回りに複数の径方向孔がある、請求項19に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記深部電極は、少なくとも50のショアA硬度を有するポリウレタン材料のチューブを有する、請求項1に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記ポリウレタン材料は55のショアA硬度を有する、請求項22の記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記可撓性外管は、少なくとも80のショアA硬度を有するエラストマーチューブの一体品である、請求項1のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記可撓性外管は83のショアA硬度を有する、請求項24の記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
- 前記深部電極は、少なくとも50のショアA硬度を有するポリウレタン材料のチューブを有する、請求項24に記載のカテーテルアセンブリ。
