Description
(1)超硬合金からなり、中心軸Xの周りで回転される円柱状の本体部3の先端部3aおよび外周部3bの少なくとも一方に切刃5を形成するとともに、切刃5から本体部3の後端に向かって伸びる溝7を形成する工程。
(2)本体部3の表面を、クロムを含有する非酸化物からなる第2の被覆層9によって被覆する工程。
(3)第2の被覆層9を部分的に除去して切刃5を含む先端領域3cを露出させる工程。
(4)本体部3を薬品処理して、本体部3における第2の被覆層9を除去して露出させた先端領域3cからコバルトを溶出させて除去する工程。
(5)薬品処理した本体部3に炭素層を設けて、本体部3のうちコバルトが除去された領域の表面にダイヤモンドからなる第1の被覆層11を形成する工程。

次に、本発明の一実施形態の切削加工物の製造方法について、切削工具1として、上述の第1の実施形態のドリル1を用いる場合を例に挙げて詳細に説明する。以下、図16〜18を参照しつつ説明する。
(1)上記実施形態に代表されるドリル1を中心軸Xの周りに回転させる工程と、
(2)回転している切削工具1における切刃5を被削材101に接触させる工程と、
(3)切削工具1を被削材101から離す工程と、

Claims (8)
- コバルトを含有する超硬合金からなり、中心軸の周りで回転される円柱状の本体部と、該本体部の先端部および外周部の少なくとも一方に設けられた切刃と、
該切刃から前記本体部の後端に向かって伸びる切屑排出溝と、
前記切刃を被覆するダイヤモンドからなる第1の被覆層と、
前記本体部における前記第1の被覆層によって被覆された部分以外の表面を被覆する、クロムを含有する非酸化物からなる第2の被覆層とを備えた切削工具。 - 前記本体部の表面のうち前記第1の被覆層によって被覆された部分におけるコバルト含有量が、前記本体部の表面のうち前記第2の被覆層によって被覆された部分におけるコバルト含有量よりも少ないことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の切削工具。
- コバルトを含有する超硬合金からなり、中心軸の周りで回転される円柱状の本体部の先端部および外周部の少なくとも一方に切刃を形成するとともに、該切刃から前記本体部の後端に向かって伸びる切屑排出溝を形成する工程と、
前記本体部の表面を、クロムを含有する非酸化物からなる第2の被覆層によって被覆する工程と、
該第2の被覆層を部分的に除去して前記切刃を含む先端領域を露出させる工程と、
前記本体部を薬品処理して、前記本体部における前記第2の被覆層を除去して露出させた前記先端領域からコバルトを溶出させて除去する工程と、
前記薬品処理した前記本体部のうち前記コバルトが除去された領域の表面にダイヤモンドからなる第1の被覆層を形成する工程とを備えたことを特徴とする切削工具の製造方法。 - 前記第2の被覆層を部分的に除去する工程において、前記切屑排出溝のうち前記切刃に隣接する領域のみを露出させることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の切削工具の製造方法。
- 前記第2の被覆層を部分的に除去する工程において、前記本体部の前記外周部における前記切屑排出溝を除く領域の先端側を露出させることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の切削工具の製造方法。
- 前記第2の被覆層を部分的に除去する工程において、前記第2の被覆層を研磨加工によって除去することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の切削工具の製造方法。
- 前記第1の被覆層を形成する工程の後に、
前記第2の被覆層を全て除去する工程をさらに備えたことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の切削工具の製造方法。 - 請求項1または2に記載の切削工具を前記中心軸の周りに回転させる工程と、
回転している前記切削工具の前記切刃を被削材に接触させる工程と、
前記切削工具を前記被削材から離す工程とを備えた切削加工物の製造方法。
