Description
1、配向剤(例えば、ポリイミド(PI)、ポリビニルアルコール(PVA))を基板の表面に塗布し、配向層を形成する。
2、基板表面の配向層を乾燥させる。
3、乾燥した配向層を有する基板の表面を摩擦(rubbing)し、配向層を有する基板に複数の微細な溝を形成する。
4、ネマティック液晶を溝が形成された基板に滴下し、液晶セルが形成された後、液晶層が二枚の基板の間に挟まれる。基板に形成された配向層の作用下で、ネマティック液晶分子が誘発されて配向する。
ディスコチック液晶、ネマティック液晶及び光開始剤を混合して暗所で撹拌し、混合物を得るステップと、
前記混合物を配向層が形成された前記基板に滴下し、暗所でセル化するステップと、
紫外線をセル化した基板に照射することにより、ディスコチック液晶を光開始剤の作用下で重合させ、ディスコチック液晶の高分子網目を形成するステップとを含む液晶表示パネルの製造方法を提供する。
ディスコチック液晶、ネマティック液晶及び光開始剤を所定の割合によって混合して暗所で撹拌し、混合物を得るステップ101と、
上記混合物を脱泡機において暗所で脱泡処理を行うするステップ102と、
配向剤を基板に塗布して相応な処理を行い、配向層を形成するステップ103と、
暗所の条件下で、ステップ101の混合物を配向層が形成された基板に滴下し、真空セル化の方法により上記混合物が滴下された基板ともう一枚の基板とをセル化するステップ104と、
紫外線をセル化した基板に照射することにより、光開始剤を誘発することでラジカルを発生させ、ディスコチック液晶分子1を重合させ、ディスコチック液晶の高分子網目5を形成し、ネマティック液晶分子2の配向を固定するステップ105とを含む。
本実施例では、上記ステップ101において、ディスコチック液晶の質量パーセントが6%で、光開始剤の質量パーセントが1%で、ネマティック液晶の質量パーセントが93%である。この割合によって混合した混合物はステップ101〜ステップ105により、ネマティック液晶を固定し、液晶セル内のネマティック液晶の配向を一致させることはできる。
本実施例では、上記ステップ101において、ディスコチック液晶の質量パーセントが8%で、光開始剤の質量パーセントが2%で、ネマティック液晶の質量パーセントが90%である。この割合によって混合した混合物はステップ101〜ステップ105により、ネマティック液晶を固定し、液晶セル内のネマティック液晶の配向を一致させることはできる。
本実施例では、上記ステップ101において、ディスコチック液晶の質量パーセントが5%で、光開始剤の質量パーセントが2%で、ネマティック液晶の質量パーセントが93%である。この割合によって混合した混合物はステップ101〜ステップ105により、ネマティック液晶を固定し、液晶セル内のネマティック液晶の配向を一致させることはできる。
本実施例では、上記ステップ101において、ディスコチック液晶の質量パーセントが9%で、光開始剤の質量パーセントが3%で、ネマティック液晶の質量パーセントが88%である。この割合によって混合した混合物はステップ101〜ステップ105により、ネマティック液晶を固定し、液晶セル内のネマティック液晶の配向を一致させることはできる。
本実施例では、上記ステップ101において、ディスコチック液晶の質量パーセントが10%で、光開始剤の質量パーセントが6%で、ネマティック液晶の質量パーセントが84%である。この割合によって混合した混合物はステップ101〜ステップ105により、ネマティック液晶を固定し、液晶セル内のネマティック液晶の配向を一致させることはできる。

- 互いに対向して配置された二枚の基板と、該二枚の基板の間に充填された液晶層とを含む液晶表示パネルにおいて、前記液晶層は、UV重合性のディスコチック液晶、ネマティック液晶及び光開始剤を含む混合物から形成され、前記混合物は、質量パーセントが5〜10%である前記UV重合性のディスコチック液晶と、質量パーセントが40〜90%である前記ネマティック液晶と、質量パーセントが0.05〜10%である前記光開始剤とを含み、
前記液晶層において、ディスコチック液晶分子の主な「円盤」の平面方向が、前記ネマティック液晶の長軸方向と平行である、液晶表示パネル。 - 前記光開始剤は、過酸化ベンゾイル、過酸化ラウロイル、アゾビスイソブチロニトリル、アゾビスイソヘプチルニトリル、ジイソプロピルパーオキシジカーボネート、及びジシクロヘキシルパーオキシジカーボネートからなる群より選ばれた一種又は二種以上の混合物であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 液晶パネルを製造する二枚の基板の少なくとも一枚に配向剤を塗布し、配向層を形成するステップと、
UV重合性のディスコチック液晶、ネマティック液晶及び光開始剤を混合して暗所で撹拌し、混合物を得るステップであって、前記混合物において、前記ネマティック液晶の質量パーセントが40〜90%であり、前記UV重合性のディスコチック液晶の質量パーセントが5〜10%であり、前記光開始剤の質量パーセントが0.05〜10%である、ステップと、
暗所で前記混合物を配向層が形成された前記基板に滴下し、暗所でセル化するステップと、
紫外線をセル化した基板に照射することにより、ディスコチック液晶を光開始剤の作用下で重合させ、ディスコチック液晶の高分子網目を形成するステップであって、ディスコチック液晶分子の主な「円盤」の平面方向が、ネマティック液晶の長軸方向と平行である、ステップとを含むことを特徴とする液晶表示パネルの製造方法。 - 前記紫外線の波長は350nm〜390nmであり、紫外線の照射時間は1〜180分であり、紫外線の照射強度は0.1〜100mW/cm2であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示パネルの製造方法。
- 前記混合物を配向剤が塗布された基板に滴下する前、前記混合物を暗所で脱泡することを特徴とする請求項3または4に記載の液晶表示パネルの製造方法。
- 前記光開始剤は、過酸化ベンゾイル、過酸化ラウロイル、アゾビスイソブチロニトリル、アゾビスイソヘプチルニトリル、ジイソプロピルパーオキシジカーボネート、又はジシクロヘキシルパーオキシジカーボネートであることを特徴とする請求項3〜5の何れか一項に記載の液晶表示パネルの製造方法。
