Claims (3)
- 中心電極と接地電極とから構成されるギャップに電圧を印加して火花放電を生じさせるようになされた点火装置であって、
接地電極から中心電極までのギャップの距離よりも、中心電極からの距離が遠くなる位置に補助電極が設けられるとともに、中心電極と補助電極とが逆極性となされ、中心電極に印加される電圧は、中心電極と接地電極との間および中心電極と補助電極との間に印加されるようになされ、
当該補助電極は、中心電極と接地電極との間に印加される電圧以下で、かつ、火花放電を生じない電圧が印加され、この印加される電圧によって生じる補助電極と中心電極との間の電界が、前記ギャップに及ぶように位置決めされ、
補助電極に電圧を印加している時間が、中心電極と接地電極との間に電圧を印加している時間を含むように制御されることを特徴とする点火装置。 - 請求項1記載の点火装置に用いられる点火プラグであって、
中心電極の電気放電用導体と、補助電極の電気放電用導体とがそれぞれ独立して設けられ、
補助電極は、接地電極から中心電極までのギャップの距離よりも、中心電極から補助電極までの距離が遠くなり、かつ、印加される電圧によって生じる電界が、前記ギャップに及ぶ位置に設けられたことを特徴とする点火プラグ。 - 請求項1に記載の点火装置を備えたエンジン。
