Claims (6)
- 電解質膜を挟んでアノードとカソードとが一体化された膜・電極構成体におけるアノード側にメタノールを供給し、かつ膜・電極構成体を透過したプロトンと酸素との反応をカソード側で生じさせて電力を生じる直接メタノール燃料電池において、
前記カソードの外表面側に、水蒸気を浸透させるとともに熱を蓄える断熱層が形成され、前記断熱層は親水性のセラミック紙を素材として形成されていることを特徴とする直接メタノール燃料電池。 - 前記断熱層は、多孔構造に構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の直接メタノール燃料電池。
- 前記断熱層での発熱は、水蒸気が直接凝縮することに伴って潜熱が顕熱となることにより生じるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の直接メタノール燃料電池。
- 前記断熱層は、浸透させた水が蒸発することによる冷却作用によって所定の温度を維持するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか一項に記載の直接メタノール燃料電池。
- 前記断熱層は、水が浸透して湿潤した状態では気体の透過を遮断するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし4のいずれか一項に記載の直接メタノール燃料電池。
- 前記断熱層を貫通して前記カソードに空気を供給する吸気孔を更に備えていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし5のいずれか一項に記載の直接メタノール燃料電池。
