Description
ビチューメンは炭化水素及びその誘導体を必須成分とする粘稠液体又は固体である。ビチューメンはトリクロロエチレンに可溶で、加熱すると徐々に軟化する。ビチューメンは種々の用途にバインダーとして使用される。ビチューメンを骨材と組合わせれば、道路の作製に使用可能なアスファルトが得られる。或いはビチューメンは、屋根葺き、床張り又は目止めのような工業的用途に使用できる。
したがって、本発明は、
(a)ビチューメンバインダー、又は樹脂、油及び任意に重合体を含有する合成バインダーと、被覆材料とを同時に押出して、該バインダーを被覆材料の層で被覆した押出物を生成する工程、及び
(b)任意に該押出物を被覆バインダー構成単位に造形する工程、
を含む、バインダーの芯を被覆材料の層で被覆してなる被覆バインダー構成単位の製造方法を提供する。
被覆バインダー構成単位は、バインダーの芯を被覆材料の層で被覆して構成される。本発明の一実施態様では構成単位は、バインダーの中央芯と、被覆材料の外側層とを有するペレットである。本発明の第二の実施態様では構成単位は、ロッドの長さの一部又は全部に亘るバインダーの中央芯と、被覆材料の外側層とを有するロッドである。本発明の第三の実施態様では構成単位は、被覆材料の外側層間にバインダーの中央芯が配置されたシートである。被覆バインダー構成単位の正確な形状は変化できるが、取扱い及び輸送が容易であるような形状及び大きさであることが望ましい。ペレットは、通常、粒状材料の貯蔵、流れ及び取扱いと関連した利点を有する。
バインダーは、硫黄をバインダーの重量に対し0.01〜80重量%、更に好ましくは0.01〜50重量%の量、含有してよい。
被覆材料の融点は、バインダーからの放出物を防止するため、好ましくは200℃未満である。
バインダーは、なお流動可能であり、同時に押出物にとってそれ自体の形状を維持するのに十分な稠度を付与できるように、その軟化点に近い温度(好ましくは軟化点よりも100℃未満高い、更に好ましくは軟化点よりも50℃未満高い温度)でダイを出る。このような熱的条件下では、熱バインダーのこぼれ(spillage)も防止される。
バインダー及び被覆材料の流速は、材料の流れが安定で、かつ押出物の形状が規則的になるように、装置の能力を考慮して決定される。同時押出装置内の通常の滞留時間は、好ましくは20分未満、更に好ましくは10分未満である。
針入度50/70等級のビチューメンを低密度ポリエチレンで被覆した。ビチューメン及びポリエチレンを同時押出ダイに供給した。即ち、ビチューメンは内側ダイに供給し、ポリエチレンは外側ダイに供給した。ビチューメンは約50℃の温度でダイを出て、一方、ポリエチレンは160〜180℃の温度で処理された。得られた押出物は、厚さ100μm未満のポリエチレン層で被覆された直径約10mmのビチューメンのロッドである。
針入度50/70等級のビチューメンを高密度ポリエチレンで被覆した。ビチューメン及びポリエチレンを同時押出ダイに供給した。即ち、ビチューメンは内側ダイに供給し、ポリエチレンは外側ダイに供給した。ビチューメンは約50℃の温度でダイを出て、一方、ポリエチレンは180〜200℃の温度で処理された。得られた押出物は、厚さ100μm未満のポリエチレン層で被覆された直径約10mmのビチューメンのロッドである。

Claims (6)
- 被覆バインダー構成単位を製造する方法であって、前記被覆バインダー構成単位が被覆材料の層で被覆されたバインダーの芯を含み、前記バインダーがビチューメンバインダー、または樹脂、油及び任意に重合体を含む合成バインダーであり、前記バインダーの軟化点(EN 1427に従って測定)が30〜140℃であり、前記樹脂が植物源の樹脂、石油樹脂またはクマロン−インデン樹脂であり、かつ前記被覆材料がポリオレフィンまたは少なくとも50重量%のポリオレフィンを含むブレンドであるか、または前記被覆材料が熱可塑性エラストマーもしくはプラストマーまたは少なくとも50重量%の熱可塑性エラストマーもしくはプラストマーを含むブレンドであり、
(a)前記バインダーと前記被覆材料を、同心的に配列した押出オリフィスを有する内側ダイ及び外側ダイを備え、前記内側ダイと外側ダイ間に絶縁間隙がある同時押出装置を用いて、冷却材を該絶縁間隙に循環し、前記バインダーを内側ダイに供給し、前記被覆材料を外側ダイに供給することにより、同時に押出して、前記バインダーが被覆材料の層で被覆された押出物を生成する工程、および
(b)任意に前記押出物を被覆バインダー構成単位に造形する工程
を含む、前記製造方法。 - 前記バインダーがビチューメンバインダーである請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記バインダーが樹脂、油及び任意に重合体を含む合成バインダーであり、前記樹脂が植物源の樹脂、石油樹脂またはクマロン−インデン樹脂である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記構成単位がペレットであり、該ペレットの平均最長寸法が100mm未満である請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記構成単位がロッドであり、該ロッドの平均最長寸法が100mmを超え、該ロッドの平均直径が好ましくは50mm未満である請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記構成単位がシートであり、該シートの平均最長寸法が100mmを超え、該シートの平均幅が10mm〜1mであり、該シートの平均厚さが15mm未満である請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
