(式中、Mは、バナジウム、マンガン、鉄、コバルト、ニッケル、銅、亜鉛、アルミニウム、ホウ素、マグネシウム、カルシウム、ストロンチウム、バリウム、ジルコニウム、ニオブ、モリブテン、タングステン、ビスマス、ナトリウムおよびガリウムからなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種であり、aは3〜5、bは0.005〜1.5、cは−1〜1を満たす。)で表されるものであってもよい。Mは、マンガン、鉄、コバルト、ニッケル、銅、アルミニウム、ホウ素、マグネシウム、ジルコニウム、ニオブおよびタングステンからなる群から選ばれる少なくとも1種であることが好ましい。上述のチタン酸リチウムは、1種を単独でまたは2種以上を混合して用いることができる。

(Tは温度(℃)であり、RHは相対湿度(%)である。)を満たす条件下で行うことが好ましい。(T+273)×RH×10−2は、より好ましくは210以下(典型的には170以下)である。かかる条件下で負極合材層を保持することで、低温特性が好適に向上する。上記式における(T+273)×RH×10−2の下限値は特に限定されないが、低温特性向上の観点から、好ましくは70以上であり、より好ましくは90以上(典型的には100以上)である。
[正極シートの作製]
正極活物質としてニッケルマンガンコバルト酸リチウム(Li[Ni1/3Mn1/3Co1/3]O2)粉末と、導電材としてアセチレンブラック(AB)と、結着材としてカルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)とを、これらの材料の質量比が87:10:3となるようにイオン交換水中で混合して、ペースト状の正極合材層形成用組成物を調製した。この組成物を、長尺シート状のアルミニウム箔(正極集電体;厚さ15μm)の両面に合計塗付量が17mg/cm2(固形分基準)となるように塗付して乾燥させた後、プレスを行い、シート状の正極(正極シート)を作製した。
水酸化リチウムとアナターゼ型二酸化チタンとを、リチウム(Li)とチタン(Ti)のモル比が4:5となるように水中で混合し、スラリー状混合物を得た。このスラリー状混合物を脱水乾燥した後、温度850℃で10時間焼成した。その後、粉砕および分級を行うことにより、平均粒径1.5μmのチタン酸リチウム(Li4Ti5O12)を得た。平均粒径は、レーザー散乱・回折法に基づく粒度分布測定装置に基づいて測定した粒度分布から導き出せるメジアン径(平均粒径D50:50%体積平均粒径)を採用した。
作製した正極シートと負極シートとを2枚の長尺状ポリオレフィン系セパレータ(ここでは厚さが25μmの多孔質ポリエチレンシートを用いた。)とともに積層し、その積層シートを長尺方向に捲回して捲回電極体を作製した。この捲回電極体を円筒型のケースに収容し、凡そ100Paの条件で真空乾燥を行った。その後、電解液をケース内に注入し、封口することによって、例1〜例32に係る18650型のリチウムイオン二次電池(理論容量223mAh、4.1V充電〜3V放電)を構築した。電解液としては、エチレンカーボネート(EC)とジメチルカーボネート(DMC)とエチルメチルカーボネート(EMC)との3:3:4(体積比)混合溶媒に支持塩として約1mol/LのLiPF6を溶解させたものを用いた。
上記のように作製した各リチウムイオン二次電池に対して、25℃の温度条件下において適当なコンディショニング処理(0.2Cの充電レートで4.1Vまで定電流定電圧で充電する操作と、0.2Cの放電レートで3.0Vまで定電流定電圧放電させる操作を3回繰り返す初期充放電処理)を行った後、SOC(State of Charge)40%の充電状態に調整した。そして、各リチウムイオン二次電池に対して−30℃の温度条件下において周波数10mHz〜1MHzにて交流インピーダンス法により反応抵抗を測定した。負極合材層のプレス後に所定の温度および湿度条件下で保持を行わなかった他は例1と同様にして構築したリチウムイオン二次電池の反応抵抗を100(基準)として、各例に係るリチウムイオン二次電池の反応抵抗を反応抵抗変化率として相対値で表した。反応抵抗変化率の値が小さいほど反応抵抗が小さく、値が大きいほど反応抵抗が大きい。その結果を表1および図3に示す。

Claims (4)
- 負極集電体および負極合材層を備える非水電解質二次電池用負極を製造する方法であって、
チタン酸リチウムを含む負極活物質を主成分とし、セルロース誘導体としてカルボキシメチルセルロースを含む負極合材層を形成すること、ここで該負極合材層は、負極合材層形成用組成物を前記負極集電体に塗布し、さらに乾燥およびプレスを行うことによって形成する;および
前記形成した負極合材層を、温度35℃〜60℃および相対湿度30%〜70%を満たす条件下で保持すること;
を包含する、非水電解質二次電池用負極の製造方法。 - 前記負極(典型的には負極板)をフープ状態にして、前記保持を少なくとも0.5時間行う、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
- 前記保持を、温度40℃以上60℃以下および相対湿度35%以上55%以下の条件下で行う、請求項1または2に記載の製造方法。
- 正極を構築すること、
負極を構築すること、および
前記正極および前記負極を用いて非水電解質二次電池を構築すること、
を包含し、
前記負極として、請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の製造方法によって得られた負極を用いる、非水電解質二次電池の製造方法。
