ここで方程式2a右側のRmax_jは、上記の方程式2で算出されたものであり、またここでR_(j−1)は、先に送信されたセグメントの実測速度、あるいはそれが第1のセグメントの場合ゼロである。例えば、

Claims (17)
- IPプロトコルを用いた広域ネットワークを介して送信システムから受信システムへ伸びる通信経路に沿って、当該送信システムから当該受信システムへ複数のファイルセグメントからなるファイルの一部を送信するステップであって、前記複数のファイルセグメントの各々の伝送後に生じる可変の待機期間だけ間隔を空けた複数の伝送によって前記ファイルセグメントを送信することを含むステップと、
前記複数のファイルセグメントの選択された1つである選択されたファイルセグメントが前記送信システムによって送信され、さらに、当該選択されたファイルセグメントが前記受信システムによって受信された後、当該受信システムが、当該選択されたファイルセグメントが当該送信システムから当該受信システムへ通信経路に沿って送信された実転送速度を決定するステップと、
前記受信システムが、他のネットワークトラフィックによって生じるネットワーク混雑に応じて増加する前記可変の待機期間を、前記選択されたファイルセグメント伝送に関して決定された実転送速度に一部基づいて決定するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記実転送速度は、前記送信システムから前記受信システムへ送信された前記複数のファイルセグメントの各々に関して決定されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記可変の待機期間は、先行するファイルセグメントの前記実転送速度に基づき、前記複数のファイルセグメントの各々の後に決定されることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記可変の待機期間の決定は、前記送信システムから前記受信システムへの通信経路に沿ったファイルセグメントの送信に基づいて決定されるネットワーク混雑測定の一部に基づいていることを特徴とする請求項1ないし3のいずれか一つに記載の方法。
- 送信システムから受信システムへ複数のファイルセグメントからなるデータファイルを広域通信ネットワークを介して送信する方法であって、
前記複数のファイルセグメントの各々の伝送後に生じる可変の待機期間だけ間隔を空けた前記複数のファイルセグメントの各々の伝送によって、前記複数のファイルセグメントを、IPプロトコルを用いた前記通信ネットワークを介して前記送信システムから前記受信システムへ送信するステップと、
前記受信システムが、前記送信システムから当該受信システムへ伸びる前記通信ネットワーク上のネットワーク混雑であって、他のネットワークトラフィックによって生じるネットワーク混雑を、前記複数のファイルセグメントの送信に基づいて検知するステップと、
前記受信システムが、前記検知されたネットワーク混雑に基づき前記待機期間を調整するステップと、
を含み、
前記検知されたネットワーク混雑が増大する場合に前記待機期間を増加させ、これにより、データファイルを送信することに起因するネットワーク混雑の影響を削減することを特徴とする方法。 - 混雑を検知するステップは、
前記複数のファイルセグメントの選択された1つが前記送信システムから前記受信システムへ送信された実転送速度を決定するステップと、
前記選択されたファイルセグメント伝送に関して決定された実転送速度に一部基づき、前記可変の待機期間を決定するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の方法。 - 混雑を検知するステップは、
前記通信ネットワークに関する最高転送速度を決定するステップと、
前記複数のファイルセグメントの選択された1つが前記送信システムから前記受信システムへと送信された実転送速度を決定するステップと、
前記選択されたファイルセグメント伝送に関して決定された実転送速度に一部基づき、前記可変の待機期間を決定するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の方法。 - 前記複数のファイルセグメントを送信するステップは、
初期的に前記通信ネットワークに関する最高転送速度に基づき、前記待機期間だけ間隔を空けて前記複数のファイルセグメントを送信するステップを含むことを特徴とする請求項5に記載の方法。 - 送信システムと受信システムとの間の広域ネットワークを含む通信経路であって、当該送信システムから当該受信システムへ伸びる通信経路に沿って、当該送信システムから当該受信システムへ複数のファイルセグメントからなるファイルの一部を送信するステップであって、各伝送後に生じる様々な複数の待機期間の1つの時間だけ間隔を空けた複数の伝送によって前記ファイルセグメントを1つずつIPプロトコルを用いて送信することを含むステップと
前記受信システムが、各ファイルセグメント伝送に関して、前記ファイルセグメントが前記送信システムから前記受信システムへ送信された実転送速度を決定するステップと、
前記受信システムが、先行するファイルセグメント伝送を有する各ファイルセグメント伝送に関して、前記先行するファイルセグメント伝送の実転送速度に一部基づき、前記ファイルセグメント伝送で送信されるべきファイルセグメントのサイズを決定するステップと、
を含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 複数のファイルセグメントからなるデータファイルを送信コンピュータシステムから受信コンピュータシステムへ伝送するシステムであって、
前記受信コンピュータシステムへ伝送されるべき前記データファイルを記憶するように構成されたデータ記憶要素と、
前記送信コンピュータシステムに接続され、前記受信システムへ前記複数のデータファイルセグメントを、当該送信システムと当該受信システムとの間の広域ネットワークを含む通信経路であって、当該送信システムから当該受信システムへ伸びる通信経路に沿って、伝送するように構成された第1のネットワークインターフェースと、
前記受信コンピュータシステムに接続され、前記送信コンピュータシステムから送信された前記複数のデータファイルセグメントを受信するよう構成された第2のネットワークインターフェースと、
前記受信コンピュータシステムに接続されているネットワークインターフェース制御装置であって、IPプロトコルを用いる前記第1及び第2ネットワークインターフェースを介した前記複数のファイルセグメントの前記受信コンピュータシステムから前記受信システムへの伝送を制御するように構成され、前記送信システムから前記受信システムへ送信される前記複数のファイルセグメントの選択された一つの実転送速度を決定し、前記実転送速度に一部基づき、前記複数のファイルセグメントの個々の伝送間の待機期間を決定し、これにより、データファイルを送信することに起因するネットワーク混雑の影響を削減するネットワークインターフェース制御装置と、
を含むことを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記ネットワークインターフェース制御装置が、さらに、ファイルセグメントについての要求を前記待機期間の経過に応じて前記送信コンピュータシステムへ送信するよう構成されている、請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記複数のファイルセグメントは、前記送信コンピュータシステムから前記受信コンピュータシステムへの伝送時間を示す時間データを含み、
前記複数のファイルセグメントの前記実転送速度の指標は、前記受信コンピュータシステムから受信される肯定応答メッセージにおいて、前記ネットワークインターフェース制御装置によって受信されることを特徴とする請求項10に記載のシステム。 - 前記ネットワークインターフェース制御装置は、前記通信経路における最高転送速度に基づき前記待機期間を決定するように初期的に構成されることを特徴とする請求項10に記載のシステム。
- 前記ネットワークインターフェース制御装置は、前記通信経路のネットワーク混雑が増大する場合に前記待機期間を増加させることを特徴とする請求項13に記載のシステム。
- 複数のファイルセグメントからなるデータファイルを送信システムから受信システムへ通信ネットワークを介して伝送するシステムであって、
前記受信コンピュータシステムへ伝送されるべき前記データファイルを記憶するように構成されたデータ記憶要素と、
前記送信コンピュータシステムに接続され、前記受信システムへ前記複数のデータファイルセグメントを、当該送信システムと当該受信システムとの間の広域ネットワークを含む通信経路であって、当該送信システムから当該受信システムへ伸びる通信経路に沿って、伝送するように構成された第1のネットワークインターフェースと、
前記受信コンピュータシステムに接続され、前記送信コンピュータシステムから送信された前記複数のデータファイルセグメントを受信するよう構成された第2のネットワークインターフェースと、
前記送信システムと前記受信システムとを含む全通信経路上の混雑を検知し、その指標を提供するように構成された混雑検知エージェントと、
前記受信システムに接続されているネットワークインターフェース制御装置であって、前記第1及び第2のネットワークインターフェースを介した前記複数のファイルセグメントの前記受信システムへの伝送を制御するように構成され、ネットワークの混雑についての前記指標を受信し、当該指標に一部基づき、前記複数のファイルセグメントの個々の伝送間の待機期間を決定するネットワークインターフェース制御装置と、
を含むことを特徴とするシステム。 - 前記ネットワークインターフェース制御装置は、前記通信経路の最高転送速度に基づき、前記可変の待機期間だけ間隔を空けて前記複数のファイルセグメントを初期的に伝送することを特徴とする請求項15に記載のシステム。
- 前記ネットワークインターフェース制御装置は、ネットワーク混雑の指標が、前記通信経路の混雑を示す場合に前記待機期間を増加させることを特徴とする請求項15に記載のシステム。
