しかし、(例えば、手当用品において)蜂蜜と、繊維のようなマトリックス材料とを組み合わせると、取り扱いが困難な接着性の製品が生じる。例えば、Advancis Medical由来のAlgivonおよびComvita由来のApi−Nateのような蜂蜜を含浸させたアルギン酸塩手当用品もしくは他のゲル形成繊維手当用品、または適用前に蜂蜜が直接塗布される任意の繊維質手当用品(例えば、Robinson Healthcare由来のGamgeeおよびConvatec由来のAquacel)は、接着性であり、取り扱いが困難である。さらに、蜂蜜含有組成物内の繊維が、混合される場合、例えば、超吸収性高分子繊維およびポリエステル(OASIS(登録商標)SAF)、またはそれらが、全体的に非ゲル化繊維(例えば、ポリエステル、ポリアミドもしくはポリプロピレン)からなる場合、非ゲル化繊維は、蜂蜜が滲出物によって十分に希釈される時、病巣床部に粘着する傾向を有する。おそらく、これは、治癒プロセス中の正常な状態として、病巣が乾燥し始める時に発生する。粘着した手当用品をはがすことは、痛みを伴い得、そして細胞の消失によって新たな組織形成が破壊され、それによって、病巣の治癒が破壊および遅延される。
蜂蜜またはゲル化剤のいずれかの非存在下で、非ゲル化マトリックス材料は、マトリックスと新たな組織とを統合させる新たな細胞増殖のためのマトリックスを提供する能力を有することが理解されよう。このことは、手当用品が、病巣床部に接着してはがすのが困難となる場合、明らかである。病巣床部に粘着した手当用品を容易にはがすために、しばしば、手当用品を(例えば、滅菌生理食塩溶液で)再水和させる必要がある。
(a)少なくとも1つのタイプの蜂蜜を提供する工程;
(b)少なくとも1つの超吸収性材料を提供する工程;ならびに
(c)蜂蜜と超吸収性材料とを組み合わせる工程
を含んでなる、方法を提供する。
(a)本発明の第1または第2の態様の組成物を提供する工程;および
(b)組成物を液体浸透性材料内に収容する工程
を含んでなる。
蜂蜜/超吸収性材料手当用品を使用する創傷の治療
本発明の手当用品を下方に向けて、病巣面上に配置する;手当用品は、大きな創傷領域を覆うために、並べて配置することもできる。滲出物が最小限しか存在しない場合、非粘着性病巣床部接触層を、蜂蜜/超吸収性材料組成物シートと病巣床部との間に使用すべきである。病巣床部内の組織タイプおよび滲出物レベルに依存して、好適な固定方法は、平坦または管状の包帯、付着性包帯および/または適切なテープであり得る。手当用品は、圧迫療法のもとで使用してもよい。
蜂蜜/超吸収性組成物の液体取り込みおよび抗微生物特性
試験を行って、蜂蜜含浸OASIS SAF(登録商標)材料の水の取り込みおよび抗微生物活性を評価したが、その結果を以下の表1に示す。
抗細菌活性:
12.6mmODコルクボーラーを使用して、円形の手当用品を調製し、ペトリディッシュおよび試験管(13mm直径)において調製した黄色ブドウ球菌(Staphylococcus aureus)播種寒天上に配置した。手当用品の円形物を寒天の表面に配置し、そして1晩インキュベートした。
各手当用品の2cm平方の片を、7.5×7.5cm平方のカーテンボイル(curtain voile)上に配置した。手当用品およびボイルを、トレイ中の湿らせたペーパータオル上に配置し、もう1つのトレイで覆って、湿度を維持し、そして室温で放置した。重量の増加がそれ以上検出されなくなるまで、間隔を置いて、ボイルおよび手当用品を秤量した。
蜂蜜を含浸させたCMC被覆OASIS SAF(登録商標)2577の分析
蜂蜜を含浸させ、そしてCMCを被覆したOASIS SAF(登録商標)2577上で、試験を行った。
Claims (29)
- 活性型蜂蜜および超吸収性材料を含む組成物であって、
格子構造を形成して前記活性型蜂蜜が含浸され、
(a)前記超吸収性材料は、アクリル酸とメタクリレートとの架橋重合体を含む超吸収性ポリマー繊維であり、
(b)前記活性型蜂蜜は、前記超吸収性材料の吸収能の50%未満を利用し、
(c)前記活性型蜂蜜と前記超吸収性材料との重量比が、少なくとも2:1であり、
(d)前記超吸収性材料が、前記組成物の構造的完全性を保持したまま、水中で、前記超吸収性ポリマー繊維の乾燥重量の少なくとも10倍を吸収することが可能である
組成物。 - 前記超吸収性ポリマー繊維はOASIS SAF(登録商標)である、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 半固体の撓みやすいシートの形態である、請求項1または2に記載の組成物。
- 前記シートは、超吸収性ポリマー繊維の少なくとも1つの層が散在しているセルロース圧縮材料またはポリエステルの少なくとも1つの層を含んでなる、請求項3に記載の組成物。
- 前記セルロース圧縮材料はティッシュペーパーである、請求項4に記載の組成物。
- 前記シートは、非層構造中に超吸収性ポリマー繊維およびセルロース繊維の混合物を含んでなる、請求項3〜5のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記シートの厚さは0.25mm〜10mmの間である、請求項3〜6のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記シートの厚さは1mm未満である、請求項3〜7のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記活性型蜂蜜は、5%〜50%の間の前記超吸収性材料の吸収能を利用する、請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記活性型蜂蜜は、10%未満の前記超吸収性材料の吸収能を利用する、請求項9に記載の組成物。
- 前記活性型蜂蜜の抗微生物活性は、少なくとも10%のフェノール含有量を伴う溶液と同等である、請求項1〜10のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記活性型蜂蜜はマヌカ蜂蜜である、請求項1〜11のいずれか一項に記載の組成物。
- 前記組成物は、ゲル化剤で被覆されている、請求項1に記載の組成物。
- 前記ゲル化剤は、粉末または顆粒またはシートの形態である、請求項13に記載の組成物。
- 前記ゲル化剤は、超吸収性ポリマー、アルギン酸塩またはカルボキシ−メチル−セルロースのいずれか1つ以上である、請求項13または14に記載の組成物。
- 前記ゲル化剤はカルボキシ−メチル−セルロースである、請求項15に記載の組成物。
- 請求項1〜16のいずれか一項に記載の組成物を含んでなる手当用品。
- 前記組成物は、液体浸透性材料内に収容されている、請求項17に記載の手当用品。
- 前記液体浸透性材料は、合成もしくは天然由来の不織地、織地、編地または他の編織材、あるいは高分子フィルムのいずれかである、請求項18に記載の手当用品。
- 前記液体浸透性材料は、高分子に基づく不織地材料である、請求項18または19に記載の手当用品。
- 前記高分子に基づく不織地材料は、ポリエステル、ポリウレタン、ポリプロピレンまたはポリエチレンのいずれかである、請求項20に記載の手当用品。
- 滅菌されている、請求項1〜16のいずれか一項に記載の組成物または請求項17〜21のいずれか一項に記載の手当用品。
- 請求項1〜12のいずれか一項に記載の組成物を製造する方法であって:
(a)少なくとも1つのタイプの蜂蜜を提供する工程;
(b)少なくとも1つの超吸収性ポリマー繊維を提供する工程;および
(c)蜂蜜と超吸収性ポリマー繊維とを組み合わせる工程
を含んでなる、方法。 - 請求項18に記載の手当用品を製造する方法であって:
(a)請求項1〜16および22のいずれか一項に記載の組成物を提供する工程;
(b)ならびに組成物を液体浸透性材料内に収容する工程
を含んでなる、方法。 - 前記液体浸透性材料は、請求項19〜21のいずれか一項において定義されているとおりである、請求項24に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物または手当用品を滅菌する工程をさらに含んでなる、請求項23〜25のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物または手当用品を滅菌パケット内に含有させる工程をさらに含んでなる、請求項23〜26のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記超吸収性材料は、請求項2において定義されているとおりである、請求項23〜27のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記活性型蜂蜜は、請求項9〜12のいずれか一項において定義されているとおりである、請求項23〜28のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
