Description
本出願は、Peter M.Willisによって2011年7月19日に出願された「BIDIRECTIONAL BALLAST」と題する米国仮特許出願第61/509,227号の利益及び米国特許法第119条(e)項に基づく優先権を主張するものであり、この米国仮特許出願の開示全体を本明細書の一部を構成するものとしてここに援用する。
・分析速度が速い(時間が1/2未満)。
・使用されるO2が少なく(典型的には1/2未満)分析コストが減少し、分析で量が規定され、オペレータは、可変充填バラストの場合のように予測する必要がない。
・必要な試薬が減少し(1/2未満)、分析コストが低減する。
・ダイナミックレンジがより大きい(低レベルと高レベル)(上限がバラストサイズにより限定されず、下限が希釈によって限定されない)。
・希釈が少ないので信号対雑音比が改善される。
・バラストが小さい(パッケージ占有面積が小さい)。
・ブランクが極めて高速で、ブランクが分析の前後に自動で行われる。
・パージ時間が高速(システムが自己洗浄する)。
・バラストピストンが0リング間のO2と平衡する。
・燃焼圧力が低い。

Claims (10)
- 分析装置であって、
燃焼用の試料を収容するための燃焼炉と、
前記燃焼炉からの燃焼副生成物の流路と、
双方向バラストチャンバと、
前記バラストチャンバを前記燃焼副生成物の流路に結合する弁であって、前記チャンバへの燃焼副生成物の充填と前記チャンバからの燃焼副生成物の排出を交互に行うために順次作動される弁とを有する分析装置。 - 前記バラストチャンバは、前記チャンバを2個の両側の区画に分割する可動ピストンを有する、請求項1に記載の分析装置。
- 試料を燃焼させる段階と、
双方向バラストの両側において燃焼副生成物の収集と排出を交互に行う段階とを含む、試料中の元素の濃度を測定する方法。 - 前記収集する段階が、更に前記双方向チャンバと関連付けられた弁を順次作動させて前記チャンバの両側において充填と排出を交互に行う段階を含む、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 分析装置用の双方向バラストチャンバであって、
チャンバを画定する外側壁と、
前記壁の両端にあるエンクロージャと、
前記チャンバ内に位置決めされた可動ピストンと、
前記ピストンの両側で前記チャンバと結合されたガスポートとを有する双方向バラストチャンバ。 - 前記壁が円筒状である、請求項5に記載のチャンバ。
- 前記ピストンが円盤状である、請求項6に記載のチャンバ。
- 前記ピストンが1対の離間された封止Oリングを有する、請求項7に記載のチャンバ。
- 前記ガスポートに結合された弁を更に有する、請求項8に記載のチャンバ。
- 前記弁を交互に作動させて前記ピストンの両側においてガスの充填と排出を交互に行うように前記弁に結合されたコントローラを更に備えた、請求項9に記載のチャンバ。
