Description

Claims (20)
- a.対向する平面的な面を有する透明ポリマシートを含み、前記対向する平面的な面の間の厚さは、約0.5mm以下の厚さであり、前記シートは、本体を定め、該本体は、そこから延びる細長い脚部の配列を備え、
(1)該細長い脚部の配列の各脚部は、境界縁部を有し、該境界縁部は、該境界縁部から延びる対向する長手方向縁部を備え、
(2)前記対向する長手方向縁部の各々は、実質的な全反射が前記脚部内を進行し且つ前記対向する長手方向縁部と出会う光にもたらされるよう、光学的に滑らかであり、
(3)各脚部は、前記シートの厚さの50倍未満の曲率半径を有する折畳み部で折り畳まれて、前記折畳み部の第1の側にある前記脚部の第1の部分と、前記折畳み部の対向する第2の側にある第2の部分とを定め、
(i)前記第1の部分及び前記第2の部分は、実質的に平行な平面内に向けられる面を有し、且つ、
(ii)前記第1の部分は、第1の長手方向の軸を定め、前記第2の部分は、前記第1の長手方向の軸に対して非ゼロ角度で延びる第2の長手方向の軸を定め、前記細長い脚部の配列の前記境界縁部は、光入力地域を形成するよう積重ね関係において整列され、
b.光源を含み、該光源は、複数の発光ダイオードを含み、該複数の発光ダイオードの各発光ダイオードは、異なる色の光を発し、前記光源は、
(1)前記シートの厚さよりも大きい発光地域から光を発し、且つ、
(2)各発光ダイオードからの光が前記細長い脚部の配列の各脚部の前記境界縁部に進入するよう、前記脚部の前記積重ね境界縁部に光学的に結合され、それによって、発せられる光の前記異なる色は、各脚部内で混合され、且つ前記本体に進行し、前記本体は、各発光ダイオードから発せられる光の色とは異なる光の色を発する、
膜照明システム。 - a.前記光源は、第1の色の光を前記細長い脚部の配列の各脚部の前記境界縁部内に発するよう位置付けられる第1の発光ダイオードと、前記第1の色とは異なる第2の色の光を前記細長い脚部の配列の各脚部の前記境界縁部内に発するよう位置付けられる第2の発光ダイオードとを含み、
b.発光地域が前記本体内に定められ、前記発光地域は、前記第1の発光ダイオードからの光及び前記細長い脚部の配列を出る前記第2の発光ダイオードからの光によって照明されるときに、前記第1の色及び前記第2の色とは異なる第3の色の光を引き出すよう構成され、前記細長い脚部の配列を出る前記光は、導波管状態において前記本体内で伝搬し且つ混合する、
請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。 - 前記脚部は、前記シートの厚さの25倍未満の曲率半径に折り畳まれる、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記境界縁部にある前記脚部の前記面は、前記脚部が前記本体と接合する前記脚部の前記面と少なくとも実質的に平行である、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記第2の長手方向の軸は、前記第1の長手方向の軸に対して少なくとも実質的に90度の角度で向けられる、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記第2の長手方向の軸は、前記第1の長手方向の軸に対して少なくとも実質的に45度の角度で向けられる、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記細長い脚部の配列は、前記シート内で各脚部を切断することによって形成される、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記積み重ねられる境界縁部は、実質的に滑らかで連続的な表面を定めるよう実質的に整列される、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記積み重ねられる境界縁部は、研磨される、請求項8に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記積み重ねられる境界縁部は、少なくとも部分的に一体的に溶解させられる、請求項8に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記シートの前記面の1つ又はそれよりも多くは、
a.反射性材料、及び、
b.前記シートよりも低い屈折率を有する材料
の1つ又はそれよりも多くから成る層を支持する、
請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。 - 前記シートの前記面の1つ又はそれよりも多くは、
前記地域で或いは前記地域に隣接して前記シート内の光の内反射を減少させるよう、
a.粗面化される地域、及び/又は、
b.低半透明又は低反射性とされる地域
を支持する、
請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。 - a.前記シートの少なくとも一部は、活性波長で光に晒されるときに蛍光を発し、
b.前記光源は、前記活性波長で光を発する、
請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。 - 前記シートの前記本体は、液晶ディスプレイと当接して位置付けられる、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記シートの前記本体は、信号と当接して位置付けられる、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記シートは、0.25mm未満の厚さを有する、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記複数の発光ダイオードは、前記細長い脚部の配列の前記境界縁部と平行な方向において互いに隣接し合って幾何学的に位置付けられる、請求項1に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記第3の色は、白色である、請求項2に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記第1の色は、赤色、緑色、又は青色である、請求項2に記載の膜照明システム。
- 前記発光領域が前記第3の色とは異なる第4の色の光を引き出すよう、前記第1の発光ダイオードから発せられる光の強さが調節される、請求項2に記載の膜照明システム。
