Description
Claims (15)
- 光を放射する主要面を持つ発光ダイオードと、
前記発光ダイオードを覆う第1光学素子であり、前記主要面によって放射される前記光の大部分が、全反射によって、前記主要面に対してほぼ平行である方向に再方向付けされるような曲面を持つ第1光学素子であって、前記第1光学素子から放射されるほぼ全ての光が、前記第1光学素子の第1表面領域を通り、前記第1表面領域が、前記主要面に対してほぼ垂直な方向に第1高さを持つ第1光学素子と、
前記第1光学素子の前記第1表面領域を通って放射されるほぼ全ての光を受けるよう、前記第1光学素子に光学的に結合される第2光学素子であり、前記第1高さより実質的に少ない第2高さの光出力領域を持つ第2光学素子であって、前記光出力領域によって放射される光の大部分が、前記発光ダイオードの前記主要面に対してほぼ平行な方向にあり、前記第2光学素子の前記光出力領域が、前記第1表面領域とほぼ等しい又は前記第1表面領域より大きい第2表面領域を持つ第2光学素子とを有する照明システム。 - 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記第1光学素子が、ほぼ円柱形の側壁部であって、光が前記ほぼ円柱形の側壁部を通って前記第1光学素子を出て行くほぼ円柱形の側壁部を持つ対称円形ボディを有し、前記第1光学素子の上面が、先端部と渦形状とを持ち、前記発光ダイオード主要面の中心が実質的に前記先端部の下に置かれ、前記上面が、発光ダイオードの光を、全反射によって、前記主要面に対してほぼ平行である方向に、反射するシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記第2光学素子が、
複数の第1導波路であって、前記第1導波路の各々が、光入力端部及び光出力端部を持ち、前記複数の第1導波路が、前記第1導波路の各々の前記光入力端部が、前記第1光学素子の前記第1表面領域の第1区域だけから光を受けるよう光学的に結合されるように、前記第1光学素子のまわりに放射状に配設される複数の第1導波路と、
複数の第2導波路であって、前記第2導波路の各々が、光入力端部及び光出力端部を持ち、前記複数の第2導波路が、前記第2導波路の各々の前記光入力端部が、前記第1光学素子の前記第1表面領域の第2区域だけから光を受けるよう光学的に結合されるように、前記第1光学素子のまわりに放射状に配設される複数の第2導波路とを有し、
前記第1導波路及び前記第2導波路の前記光出力端部が、同じ第1面内にあり、前記第1導波路及び前記第2導波路の前記光入力端部が、異なる面内にあるシステム。 - 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第1光学素子が、ほぼ円柱形の側壁部であって、光が前記ほぼ円柱形の側壁部を通って前記第1光学素子を出て行くほぼ円柱形の側壁部を持つ対称円形ボディを有し、前記第1光学素子の上面が、先端部と渦形状とを持ち、前記発光ダイオード主要面の中心が実質的に前記先端部の下に置かれ、前記上面が、発光ダイオードの光を、全反射によって、前記主要面に対してほぼ平行である方向に、反射し、前記第1光学素子の前記第1表面領域の前記第1区域が、前記ほぼ円柱形の側壁部の第1半分であり、前記第1光学素子の前記第1表面領域の前記第2区域が、前記ほぼ円柱形の側壁部の第2半分であるシステム。
- 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第1導波路及び前記第2導波路が、矩形断面を持つシステム。
- 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第1導波路が矩形であるシステム。
- 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第2導波路が、入力面において入る光を、前記入力面と異なる前記第1面において、前記第2導波路から出て行くよう、再方向付けする傾斜部を持つシステム。
- 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第1導波路の前記光入力端部が、前記第1面内にあり、前記第2導波路の前記光入力端部が、前記第1面とは異なる第2面内にあるシステム。
- 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第1導波路が、くさび形であるシステム。
- 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第2導波路が、入力面において入る光を、前記入力面と異なる前記第1面において、前記第2導波路から出て行くよう、再方向付けする傾斜部を備える、くさび形であるシステム。
- 請求項3に記載のシステムであって、前記第1導波路及び前記第2導波路が、前記第1光学素子に光学的に結合される場所で、前記第1導波路及び前記第2導波路が、重なり合うシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記第2高さが、前記第1高さのほぼ半分であるシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記第2高さが、ほぼ1mm以下であるシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記第2光学素子が、前記第1光学素子のまわりに配設される複数の導波路を有するシステム。
- 請求項1に記載のシステムであって、前記第2光学素子が、リングパターンで光を放射するシステム。
