Claims (10)
- データ記憶装置であって、
第1の記憶特性を有する第1の領域と第2の記憶特性を有する第2の領域とを含む記憶媒体を備え、前記第1の記憶特性と前記第2の記憶特性とが異なるように、前記第1の領域と第2の領域とはフォーマットされており、前記第1の領域は、前記第2の領域と切り替え可能であり、
複数のデータオブジェクトとを備え、各前記データオブジェクトは、固有のラベルにより識別され、各前記データオブジェクトは、メタデータとユーザデータとを含み、前記メタデータは属性を有しており、
前記データ記憶装置の外部から受信したデータを前記記憶媒体に格納するように構成されたコントローラを備え、前記コントローラは、前記データオブジェクトの当該属性に基づいて、前記第1の領域または前記第2の領域の一つに前記データオブジェクトを格納するように構成されている、データ記憶装置。 - 各前記記憶特性は、インチ当たりトラック数、トラック密度、インチ当たりビット数、および、面密度のいずれかを含む、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 各前記データオブジェクトをどこに格納するかの決定を行う記憶場所アルゴリズムを格納するように構成されたメモリをさらに備え、
前記コントローラは、前記記憶場所アルゴリズムに基づいて、前記決定を行なうように構成されている、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。 - 前記属性は、前記データオブジェクトのサイズ、または、前記データオブジェクトの使用履歴を含む、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記使用履歴は、前記データへの最も最近のアクセス時刻、前記データへの最も最近の修正時刻、前記データの読出回数、および、前記データの書き込み回数の少なくとも一つを含む、請求項4に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記属性は、前記メモリに格納されている、請求項3に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- さらに、フォーマット化されない第3の領域を前記記憶媒体に含み、
前記第1の領域または前記第2の領域のいずれか一つの記憶容量が満杯になると、前記第3の領域における記憶特性が、前記ずれかの領域における記憶特性と同じになるように、前記コントローラは、前記第3の領域をフォーマットするように構成されている、請求項1に記載のデータ記憶装置。 - 前記第3の領域は、前記第1の領域と前記第2の領域との間に存在する、請求項7に記載のデータ記憶装置。
- 前記記憶媒体は、円形であり、
前記記憶媒体の中心に対して、前記第1の領域は前記第2の領域の外側にある、請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載のデータ記憶装置。 - 前記コントローラは、複数の前記属性について予め定められた基準に基づいて前記データオブジェクトが格納される領域を決定するように構成されている、請求項1から8のいずれか1項に記載のデータ記憶装置。
