Description
本出願は、2006年6月30日に出願された「METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR APPLYING PATTERNS OF NON-CONTIGUOUS FEATURES」という名称の米国特許仮出願第60/806452号の優先権を主張するものである。
(技術分野)
本発明は、複数の画像化ヘッド(imaging head)を用いて画像(image)を形成する画像化システムおよび方法に関する。この画像は、フィーチャ(feature)のパターンを含むことができる。本発明は例えば、電子ディスプレイ装置のカラーフィルタの製造に使用することができる。
図1Cは、三角形のカラーエレメント12A、14Aおよび16Aの構成を有する従来技術のカラーフィルタ10の一部分を示す。図1Cに示されているように、それぞれの色のエレメントはそれぞれ列に沿って配置されており、マトリックス20によって分離されている。
図1Aを参照すると、カラーエレメント12、14および16の輪郭が、エレメントを分割するカラーフィルタマトリックス20(マトリックス20としても知られている)の部分によって画定されている。マトリックス20は、エレメントとエレメントの間からバックライトが漏れるのを防ぐのに役立ち得る。エレメントの列は普通、細長いストライプとして画像化され、次いで、マトリックス20によって、個々のカラーエレメント12、14および16に細分される。関連LCDパネル(図示せず)上のTFTトランジスタは一般に、マトリックスの部分22によって覆い隠される。
カラーエレメントは、「熱転写」プロセスによって付着させることができる。熱転写プロセスはレーザ誘起熱転写プロセスを含む。熱転写プロセスは、染料および他の画像形成材料、例えば顔料、類似の着色剤組成物などを画像どおりに転写することを含むことができる。熱転写プロセスは着色剤および結合剤の転写を含むことができる。
それぞれのストライプ内のそれぞれの赤エレメントの輪郭を画定するマトリックスの垂直部分(図示せず)と部分的に重なり合う十分な幅を有することができる。カラー供与要素のそれぞれの連続画像化には、非接触フィーチャの繰返しパターンの画像化が必要である。ストライプ30、32、34および36は、このような非接触フィーチャのこのようなパターンの一例である。ストライプ30、32、34および36はそれぞれ、副走査方向44に沿って互いに空間的に分離されている。画像化ヘッド26は、個別にアドレス指定可能な複数の画像化チャネル40を含み、第1の位置38に位置している。図3は、画像化チャネル40と転写されたパターンとの間の対応を破線41で示す。
Claims (5)
- 受像要素上に複数の非接触フィーチャを形成する方法であって、
第1の非接触フィーチャおよび第2の非接触フィーチャを供与要素から受像要素に熱転写プロセスによって転写するため、画像化ビームを走査経路に沿って導くように、第1のマルチチャネル画像化ヘッドを動作させるステップであって、前記第1の非接触フィーチャと前記第2の非接触フィーチャとが互いに、少なくとも副走査方向に空間的に分離されたステップと、
第3の非接触フィーチャを前記供与要素から前記受像要素に熱転写プロセスによって転写するため、画像化ビームを導くように第2のマルチチャネル画像化ヘッドを動作させるステップであって、前記第3の非接触フィーチャが、前記第1の非接触フィーチャと前記第2の非接触フィーチャの間にあり、前記第1および第2の非接触フィーチャから、少なくとも前記副走査方向に空間的に分離されたステップと
を含み、
前記第1および第2の非接触フィーチャをそれぞれ前記受像要素に転写する前記ステップが、前記第1のマルチチャネル画像化ヘッドの隣接した複数のチャネルを動作させるステップを含み、前記第3の非接触フィーチャを転写する前記ステップが、前記第2のマルチチャネル画像化ヘッドの隣接した複数のチャネルを動作させるステップを含む、方法。 - 前記第1、第2および第3の非接触フィーチャを前記供与要素から前記受像要素に転写した後に、前記供与要素を前記受像要素から分離するステップを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第1、第2および第3の非接触フィーチャが、互いに少なくとも前記副走査方向に空間的に分離された複数の非接触フィーチャを含むパターンのフィーチャである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記非接触フィーチャがそれぞれ、前記走査経路の方向に連続したストライプを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記非接触フィーチャがそれぞれ、前記走査経路の方向に中断されたストライプを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
