Description
第一及び第二主平面、前記第一主平面に形成され、それと電気的に密接接触(又は接続)する第一電極、及び前記第二主平面に形成され、それと電気的に密接接触する第二電極を有するPPTC抵抗要素;
第三及び第四電極主平面を有するMOV要素;
前記PPTC及び前記MOVを分離する空間を形成しそこを占める所定の形状と厚さの熱質量体材料及び前記第二電極と前記第三電極主平面を接続するためのコネクタ要素(又は接続要素);
前記第一電極にデバイス第一端子接続部;及び前記第四電極にデバイス第二端子接続部とを含む。
以下、本発明の主な態様を記載する。
1.第一及び第二主平面、第一主平面と電気的に密接接触し第一主平面に形成される第一電極シート、及び第二主平面と電気的に密接接触し第二主平面に形成される第二電極シートを有するポリマー正温度係数(PPTC)要素;
第三及び第四電極主平面を有する金属酸化物バリスタ(MOV)要素;
MOV要素が故障温度に達する前に、PPTC要素が高抵抗状態になるように、MOV要素からPPTC要素への熱移動を制御し、第二電極シートと第三電極主平面を電気的に接続するために、PPTC要素とMOV要素の対向する第二及び第三主平面の間に設けられた、所定の厚さ及び形状の熱質量体材料;
第一電極シートにデバイス第一端子接続部;及び
第四電極主平面にデバイス第二端子接続部
を含んで成る複合回路保護デバイス。
2.第一端子接続部は、第一コネクタリードであり、第二端子接続部は、第二コネクタリードである上記1に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
3.デバイス第三端子接続部は、第二電極シートと第三電極主平面の間に設けられ、好ましくは、第三端子接続部は、第三コネクタリードを含んで成る上記1に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
4.熱質量体材料は、金属プレートを含み、好ましくは、金属プレートは、約0.025mm〜約2.5mm(0.001〜0.100インチ)の平均厚さを有する上記1に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
5.熱質量体材料は、第三コネクタリードの端部と、その端部によって占められない第二及び第三主平面によって規定される空間を満たすはんだ材料を含む上記3に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
6.端部は、平坦化形状に形成され、好ましくは、その平坦化形状は、テーパーを有する上記5に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
7.端部は、0.25mm(0.010インチ)と0.51mm(0.020インチ)の範囲内の厚さを有する上記5に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
8.第二及び第三主平面は、中央に配置される接着材料のドットによって隔てられ、熱質量体材料は、ドットを包囲し、そのドットによって占められない第二及び第三主平面の間の空間を満たすはんだ材料を含み、好ましくは、接着材料は、0.25mm(0.01インチ)と5mm(0.2インチ)の範囲内の厚さを有する上記1に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
9.公称量の動作電力を供給する電源装置;
動作電力を受容するために通常接続される電気負荷;及び
電源装置と電気負荷の間に接続される直列シャント複合回路保護デバイスであって、そのデバイスと電源装置の間の電気回路に生ずる過渡的過電圧/過電流条件発生源に応答するためのデバイス
を含んで成る電気回路であって、
該複合回路保護デバイスは、
電源装置と電気負荷の間に直列に接続されるポリマー正温度係数(PPTC)要素であって、第一及び第二主平面、第一主平面と電気的に密接接触し第一主平面に形成される第一電極シート、及び第二主平面と電気的に密接接触し第二主平面に形成される第二電極シートを有するポリマー正温度係数要素;
電気負荷に並列に接続され、第三及び第四電極主平面を有する金属酸化物バリスタ(MOV)要素;及び
MOV要素が故障温度に達する前に、PPTC要素が高抵抗状態になるように、該過電圧/過電流状態から結果として生ずるMOV要素からPPTC要素への熱移動を制御し、第二電極シートと第三電極主平面を電気的に接続するために、PPTC要素とMOV要素の対向する第二及び第三主平面の間に設けられた、所定の厚さ及び形状の熱質量体材料
を含んで成る、電気回路。
10.電源装置、電気負荷、及び直列シャント複合回路保護デバイスは、電気通信施設の部分である上記9に記載の電気回路。
Claims (6)
- 第一及び第二主平面、第一主平面と電気的に密接接触し第一主平面に形成される第一電極シート、及び第二主平面と電気的に密接接触し第二主平面に形成される第二電極シートを有するポリマー正温度係数(PPTC)要素;
第三及び第四電極主平面を有する金属酸化物バリスタ(MOV)要素;
MOV要素が故障温度に達する前に、PPTC要素が高抵抗状態になるように、MOV要素からPPTC要素への熱移動を制御し、第二電極シートと第三電極主平面を電気的に接続するために、PPTC要素とMOV要素の対向する第二及び第三主平面の間に設けられた、所定の厚さ及び形状の熱質量体材料;
第一電極シートにデバイス第一端子接続部;
第四電極主平面にデバイス第二端子接続部;及び
第二電極シートと第三電極主平面の間に設けられ、第三コネクタリードを含んで成るデバイス第三端子接続部、及び
第三コネクタリードの端部と、その端部によって占められない第二及び第三主平面によって規定される空間を満たすはんだ材料を含むその熱質量体材料
を含んで成る複合回路保護デバイス。 - 第一端子接続部は、第一コネクタリードであり、第二端子接続部は、第二コネクタリードである請求項1に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
- 端部は、平坦化形状に形成され、好ましくは、その平坦化形状は、テーパーを有する請求項1に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
- 端部は、0.25mm(0.010インチ)と0.51mm(0.020インチ)の範囲内の厚さを有する請求項1に記載の複合回路保護デバイス。
- 公称量の動作電力を供給する電源装置;
動作電力を受容するために通常接続される電気負荷;及び
電源装置と電気負荷の間に接続される直列シャント複合回路保護デバイスであって、そのデバイスと電源装置の間の電気回路に生ずる過渡的過電圧/過電流条件発生源に応答するためのデバイス
を含んで成る電気回路であって、
該複合回路保護デバイスは、
電源装置と電気負荷の間に直列に接続されるポリマー正温度係数(PPTC)要素であって、第一及び第二主平面、第一主平面と電気的に密接接触し第一主平面に形成される第一電極シート、及び第二主平面と電気的に密接接触し第二主平面に形成される第二電極シートを有するポリマー正温度係数要素;
電気負荷に並列に接続され、第三及び第四電極主平面を有する金属酸化物バリスタ(MOV)要素;及び
MOV要素が故障温度に達する前に、PPTC要素が高抵抗状態になるように、該過電圧/過電流状態から結果として生ずるMOV要素からPPTC要素への熱移動を制御し、第二電極シートと第三電極主平面を電気的に接続するために、PPTC要素とMOV要素の対向する第二及び第三主平面の間に設けられた、所定の厚さ及び形状の熱質量体材料、
を含んで成る、電気回路であり、
第一電極シートにデバイス第一端子接続部;
第四電極主平面にデバイス第二端子接続部;及び
第二電極シートと第三電極主平面の間に設けられ、第三コネクタリードを含んで成るデバイス第三端子接続部、及び
第三コネクタリードの端部と、その端部によって占められない第二及び第三主平面によって規定される空間を満たすはんだ材料を含むその熱質量体材料
を含む、電気回路。 - 電源装置、電気負荷、及び直列シャント複合回路保護デバイスは、電気通信施設の部分である請求項5に記載の電気回路。
