Z0は、−C2H4−、−(CH2)4−、−CH=CH−、−CF=CF−、−C2F4−、−CH2CF2−、−CF2CH2−、−CH2O−、−OCH2−、−COO−、−OCF2−又は−CF2O−を表し、
Y1〜Y4は、式VII中のZ0が−CF2O−の場合、式VII中のY1〜Y4の少なくとも1つはHであると言う条件の下に、夫々互いに独立に、H又はFであり、

但し、R0、X0及びY1〜Y4は、夫々互いに独立に、式II〜VIIで定義される通りである。X0は、好ましくは、F、Cl、CF3、OCF3又はOCHF2である。R0は、好ましくは、夫々6個以下の炭素を有するアルキル、オキサアルキル、フルオロアルキル又はアルケニル基である。
但し、Aは、1,4−フェニレン又はトランス−1,4−シクロヘキシレンを表し、
aは、0又は1であり、
R3は、2〜9個の炭素原子を有するアルケニル基を表し、および
R4は、式IA中のR1で定義される通りである。
但し、R3は、2〜7個の炭素原子を有するアルケニル基であり、
Qは、CF2、OCF2、CFH、OCFH又は単結合であり、
Yは、F又はClであり、および
L1及びL2は、夫々互いに独立に、H又はFである。
但し、R0、X0、Y1〜Y4は、夫々互いに独立に、式II〜VIIで定義される通りで、1,4−フェニレン環は、CN、塩素またはフッ素で置換されている場合もある。X0は、好ましくは、F、Cl、CF3、OCF3又はOCHF2である。R0は、好ましくは、夫々6個以下の炭素原子を有するアルキル、オキサアルキル、フルオロアルキル又はアルケニルである。1,4−フェニレン環は、好ましくは、フッ素原子により1置換または多置換されている。

Claims (12)
- 20℃における複屈折率が0.075より低く、1〜30質量%の範囲の式IAで表される1種類以上の化合物と、1〜10質量%の範囲の式IBで表される1種類以上の化合物と、1〜9質量%の範囲の式ICで表される1種類以上の化合物とを含むことを特徴とする液晶媒体。
Y1は、H又はFであり、
Xは、F、Cl、または6個以下の炭素原子を有するハロゲン化アルキル、アルケニル、アルコキシ又はアルケニルオキシ基である。) - 一般式II、III、IV、V、VI及びVIIからなる群より選ばれる1種類以上の化合物を更に含むことを特徴とする請求項1又は2記載の媒体。
R0は、夫々9個以下の炭素原子を有するn−アルキル、アルコキシ、オキサアルキル、フルオロアルキル又はアルケニルであり、
X0は、F、Cl、1〜6個の炭素原子を有するハロゲン化アルキル、ハロゲン化アルケニル、ハロゲン化アルケニルオキシ又はハロゲン化アルコキシであり、
Z0は、−C2H4−、−(CH2)4−、−CH=CH−、−CF=CF−、−C2F4−、−CH2CF2−、−CF2CH2−、−CH2O−、−OCH2−、−COO−、−OCF2−又は−CF2O−であり、
Y1〜Y4は、式VII中のZ0が−CF2O−の場合、式VII中のY1〜Y4の少なくとも1つはHであると言う条件の下に、夫々互いに独立に、H又はFであり、
rは、0又は1である。) - X0は、F又はOCF3であることを特徴とする請求項6記載の媒体。
- 1〜30質量%の範囲の式IAで表される化合物と、
1〜10質量%の範囲の式IBで表される化合物と、
1〜9質量%の範囲の式ICで表される化合物と、
10〜50質量%の範囲の式IIで表される化合物と、
10〜50質量%の範囲の式VIで表される化合物と
を含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の媒体。 - 請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体を備える電気光学的液晶ディスプレイ。
- 請求項1で定義される式IA、IB及びICで表される1種類以上の化合物と、請求項3〜8のいずれか1項で定義される1種類以上の化合物または更なる1種類以上の液晶化合物および/または添加剤とを混合して、請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の液晶媒体を調製する方法。
