ここで、RDC、HDCはそれぞれ投薬チャンバの半径と高さ、RP1、HP1はそれぞれ第1の温度におけるペレットの半径と高さ、RP2、HP2はそれぞれ第2の温度におけるペレットの半径と高さである。本実施例では、投薬チャンバの容積は既知で不変とする。ペレットは相転移化合物からなるため、その体積は、温度の関数として変化する。ペレットが相転移化合物/薬物の混合物(プレシロール(Precirol:登録商標)/医薬)で、第1の温度が摂氏20度ないし23度、第2の温度が摂氏75度であれば、VP2=1.2・VP1(ここで、1.2は、摂氏23度に対する摂氏75度での熱膨張係数値の一例)となることがわかっている。すなわち、ペレットの体積は、室温から摂氏75度に加熱されると20%増大する。従って、空隙の体積は、VP2とVP1との差をとることで求められる(VP2−VP1=空隙の体積)。空隙の体積は、ペレットを体積VP1に形成することにより投薬チャンバ内で保たれる。この体積のペレット(いずれの形状でもよい)が、投薬チャンバ内のプランジャ上部に取り付けられる。
Claims (8)
- 混合物を眼内に注射するために注入装置を準備する方法であって、
前記混合物と投薬チャンバ容器とが室温付近にあるときに、前記混合物を前記混合物と投薬チャンバ容器内面との間に空隙を有するようにして投薬チャンバ内に供給し、
前記投薬チャンバ容器と混合物とを、前記混合物が膨張してより液体状となる、室温付近以外の温度範囲とし、
前記混合物の膨張後かつ前記装置を注射に用いる前に、針内部の空気と前記混合物とが眼内に注射可能なように前記針の内部に空気を保持する、
ことを特徴とする注入装置の準備方法。 - 前記空隙は、前記混合物の熱膨張特性に基づいて算出される、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の注入装置の準備方法。
- 前記空隙は、前記混合物とこの混合物が置かれるプランジャとの間に実質的に空気が取り込まれないようにして配置される、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の注入装置の準備方法。
- 前記供給される混合物は、親油性化合物と医薬との混合物である、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の注入装置の準備方法。
- 前記投薬チャンバ容器と前記混合物とをこの混合物が膨張してより液体状となる温度範囲とする工程において、さらに、前記混合物を、前記混合物が前記投薬チャンバを実質的に満たすまで膨張する温度範囲とする、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の注入装置の準備方法。
- 前記注入装置は、25ゲージ以下の針を有する、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の注入装置の準備方法。
- 前記混合物は、相転移化合物と薬物との混合物である、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の注入装置の準備方法。
- 前記投薬チャンバ容器と混合物とを、前記混合物が膨張してより液体状となる温度範囲に加熱する工程において、さらに、前記投薬チャンバ容器と混合物とを、およそ摂氏75度に加熱する、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の注入装置の準備方法。
