Claims (4)
- キャリア液にトナーを分散させた液体現像剤により1又は複数の像担持体上にトナー像を形成する画像形成部と、
前記像担持体上に形成されたトナー像が1次転写される無端状ベルトと、前記無端状ベルトを張架し、周回させるための複数の回転体を有する中間転写部と、
複数の前記回転体のうちの1つに対向して配され、前記無端状ベルトに当接されニップを形成する2次転写ローラと、
前記2次転写ローラに接続され、前記ニップを通過するシートに前記無端状ベルト上のトナー像を2次転写する場合は転写バイアスを、2次転写を行っていない状態では、転写バイアスと逆極性の逆転写バイアスを、前記2次転写ローラに印加可能な第1バイアス印加部と、
前記2次転写ローラに対向する前記回転体に接続され、バイアスを印加する第2バイアス印加部と、を有し、
前記第2バイアス印加部は、前記第1バイアス印加部が逆転写バイアスから転写バイアスへの極性変化開始から、2次転写に必要なバイアス電圧又は電流に到るまでの遷移時間内において、前記第1バイアス印加部の逆転写バイアスと同じ極性のバイアスを印加することを特徴とする画像形成装置。 - 1次転写後、2次転写前のトナー像からのキャリア液除去のため、前記2次転写ローラよりも前記無端状ベルトの周回方向上流側で、前記2次転写ローラに対向する前記回転体に対向して配されるとともに、前記無端状ベルトに当接されるキャリア除去ローラと、
前記キャリア除去ローラに接続される前記第1バイアス印加部の逆転写バイアスと同じ極性のバイアスを印加する第3バイアス印加部を備え、
前記第3バイアス印加部は、前記第2バイアス印加部が印加するバイアス以上の絶対値を有するバイアスをキャリア除去ローラに印加することを特徴とする請求項1記載の画像形成装置。 - 前記第2バイアス印加部は、前記ニップにシートが進入すると同時に、バイアス印加をオフすることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の画像形成装置。
- 前記第2バイアス印加部は、前記第1バイアス印加部の逆転写バイアスから転写バイアスへの極性変化開始前から前記第1バイアス印加部の逆転写バイアスよりも小さなバイアスを印加することを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の画像形成装置。
