Description
Claims (13)
- ネットワークを介してコンテンツファイルを提供する方法であって、
通信チャンネルを介してコンテンツファイルを提供するための帯域幅の値を設定するステップと、
前記通信チャンネルを介してクライアント装置に前記帯域幅の値を提供するステップと、
前記帯域幅の値と閾値との比較に応じて前記クライアント装置に前記通信チャンネルを介して前記コンテンツファイルを提供するステップであって、前記帯域幅の値が前記閾値よりも高いときは前記コンテンツファイルに関連する低圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送し、前記帯域幅の値が前記閾値よりも低いときは前記コンテンツファイルに関連する高圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送する、ステップと、
前記コンテンツファイルを提供する前記ステップにおいて前記コンテンツファイルに関連する前記高圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送した後に前記帯域幅が増大したことを検出すると、前記コンテンツファイルを提供する前記ステップにおいて関連する前記高圧縮したバージョンのデータが伝送された前記コンテンツファイルと同一のコンテンツファイルを前記クライアント装置に前記通信チャンネルを介して再び提供するステップであって、前記同一のコンテンツファイルに関連する前記低圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送する、ステップと、
を含む、前記方法。 - 前記設定するステップは、前記通信チャンネルにおいて利用可能な帯域幅を推定するステップを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記設定するステップは、前記帯域幅の初期値を設定するステップをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記設定された帯域幅の値に基づいて前記閾値を設定するステップをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記閾値は、前記設定された帯域幅の値の片方として設定される、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 通信チャンネルを介してコンテンツファイルを提供するための帯域幅の値を設定し、クライアント装置に前記帯域幅の値を提供し、前記帯域幅の値と閾値との間の比較に応じて前記クライアント装置に前記通信チャンネルを介して前記コンテンツファイルを提供するように構成されたヘッドエンド・スケジューラであって、前記帯域幅の値が前記閾値よりも高いときは前記コンテンツファイルに関連する低圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送し、および、前記帯域幅の値が前記閾値よりも低いときは前記コンテンツファイルに関連する高圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送するヘッドエンド・スケジューラを含み、該ヘッドエンド・スケジューラは、前記コンテンツファイルに関連する前記高圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送した後に前記帯域幅が増大したことを検出すると、前記コンテンツファイルと同一のコンテンツファイルに関連する前記低圧縮したバージョンのデータを前記クライアント装置に前記通信チャンネルを介して提供するようにさらに構成される、装置。
- 前記スケジューラは、初期帯域幅の値を用いて構成される、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記スケジューラは、前記通信チャンネルの前記帯域幅を推定して前記帯域幅の値を設定するように構成される、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記スケジューラは、前記帯域幅の値の片方に基づいて前記閾値を設定する、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 通信チャンネルを介してコンテンツファイルを提供するための帯域幅の値を設定するプログラム・コードと、
前記通信チャンネルを介してクライアント装置に前記帯域幅の値を提供するプログラム・コードと、
前記設定された帯域幅の値と閾値との比較に応じて前記クライアント装置に前記通信チャンネルを介して前記コンテンツファイルを提供するプログラム・コードであって、前記帯域幅の値が前記閾値よりも高いときは前記コンテンツファイルに関連する低圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送し、前記帯域幅の値が前記閾値よりも低いときは前記コンテンツファイルに関連する高圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送する、プログラム・コードと、
前記コンテンツファイルを提供する前記プログラム・コードにしたがって前記コンテンツファイルに関連する前記高圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送した後に前記帯域幅が増大したことを検出すると、前記コンテンツファイルを提供する前記プログラム・コードにしたがって関連する前記高圧縮したバージョンのデータが伝送された前記コンテンツファイルと同一のコンテンツファイルを前記クライアント装置に前記通信チャンネルを介して再び提供するプログラム・コードであって、前記同一のコンテンツファイルに関連するデータ前記低圧縮したバージョンのデータを伝送する、プログラム・コードと、
を含む、装置。 - 前記設定された帯域幅の値に基づいて前記閾値を設定するプログラム・コードをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の装置。
- 帯域幅の値を設定する前記プログラム・コードは、前記通信チャンネルにおいて利用可能な帯域幅を推定するプログラム・コードをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の装置。
- 前記設定された帯域幅の片方として、前記閾値を設定するプログラム・コードをさらに含む、請求項11に記載の装置。
