Claims (20)
- イオンクロマトグラフィー装置であって、
(a)液体試料の流れの中の1つの正または負の電荷のイオン種を分離する第1分離媒質を含有する第1流入室を画定する第1筐体と、
(b)液体試料の流れの中のイオン種を分離する前記第1分離媒質と同じ電荷の第2分離媒質を含有する第2流入室を画定する第2筐体であって、前記第2流入室は前記第1流入室の体積の0.9倍以下の体積を有する第2筐体と、
(c)さらなる分析のためにイオン種を第1流入室から第2流入室へ選択的に移送することを可能にするように構成される、前記第1流入室と前記第2流入室との間に配置される第1弁と、
(d)前記第1弁内に配置され、該弁と流体連通する流入イオン種濃縮器であって、前記第1弁が、前記第1流入室が前記濃縮器と流体連通し且つ第1流入室を流出する液体流が前記濃縮器を通して流れる第1位置と、前記第1流入室からの連続的な液体流が前記濃縮器を迂回し、サプレッサを任意選択的に通して流れた後に、廃棄される第2位置とを有し、前記第1弁が、前記第1位置と第2位置との両方の位置において、前記第1流入室を通過する連続的な流れを可能にする、前記流入イオン種濃縮器
を備える前記装置。 - (e)前記第1流入室の下流であるが、前記第2流入室の上流にあって、前記第1流入室と流体連通する第1サプレッサをさらに備える請求項1記載の装置。

(a)1つの正または負の電荷のイオン種を含有する溶離液含有液体試料流を試料注入器から第1流入室内の第1分離媒質を通して流して、前記イオン種を分離した後に、弁を通して流す工程と、
(b)前記分離イオン種の選択された部分とともに第2の溶離液を、前記第1分離媒質から、前記弁および第2流入室内にあって前記第1分離媒質と同じ正または負の電荷の第2分離媒質を通して流して、前記イオン種をさらに分離する工程であって、前記第2分離媒質を通る体積流量が前記第1分離媒質を通る体積流量の0.9倍以下である、工程と、

前記溶離液が、工程(a)乃至(d)中に、前記第1流入室を通過して連続的に流れ、前記弁は第1位置と第2位置とを取り、前記弁の第1位置において前記第1流入室が前記濃縮器と流体連通し、前記弁の第2位置において前記第1流入室からの液体が前記濃縮器を迂回して連続的に流れる、前記方法。 - (e)前記第1流入室から出た後、前記第2流入室に流入する前に、前記液体試料の流れの中の溶離液の電導度を抑制する工程
をさらに含む請求項11記載の方法。 - 前記抑制が、前記液体試料の流れと連通する液体試料流路と再生流路を分離する選択透過性膜を備える膜サプレッサで実行される請求項12記載の方法であって、
(f)前記第1分離室から出る前記試料の流れの中のイオン種を、前記第2流入室に流入する前に第2流入検出器で検出する工程と、
(g)前記第2検出器を出る前記液体試料の流れの少なくとも一部を前記再生流路を通して流す工程と、
をさらに含む前記方法。 - (f)工程(e)中に、前記濃縮媒質から出る水性溶液を、前記液体試料の流れと連通する液体試料流路と再生流路を分離する選択透過性膜を備える膜サプレッサ内の再生流路へ流す工程
をさらに含む請求項11記載の方法。 - (d)前記第2流入室から出る前記試料の流れの中の溶離液の電導度を抑制する工程
をさらに含む請求項11記載の方法。 - 前記抑制が、前記第2流入室から出る前記液体試料の流れと連通する液体試料流路と再生流路を分離する選択透過性膜を備える膜サプレッサで実行される請求項15記載の方法であって、
(f)前記第2流入室から出る前記液体試料の流れの少なくとも一部を前記再生流路を通して流す工程
をさらに含む前記方法。 - 前記第2流入室が前記第1流入室の体積の0.9倍以下の体積を有する請求項11記載の方法。
- 流れに垂直な前記第2流入室の断面積が前記第1流入室の断面積の0.9倍以下である請求項11記載の方法。
- 前記溶離液が二酸化炭素ガスを含む請求項11記載の方法であって、
(e)二酸化炭素ガスを前記試料の流れから前記濃縮器の下流で除去する工程
をさらに含む前記方法。 - 前記第2分離媒質における感度増進が、第1分離媒質と第2分離媒質の体積流量の比に略比例する請求項11記載の方法。
