Description
本実施形態に係る排気ガス浄化装置は、自動車や二輪車等からの排気ガスを高効率に浄化するためのものであり、図1〜図3に示すように、ペーパー状の担体2と、該担体2を保持した略円筒状の筐体3とを有して構成されている。尚、筐体3は、半割形状とされており、一対の半割形状で担体2を挟持させつつ固定させることにより、図1の如き構成とされている。
まず、所定量の水に対し所定量の有機繊維、無機充填材(粉末)、無機結合剤、無機繊維、有機結合剤、白金・ロジウム・アルミナ触媒(粉末)等を投入してスラリーを得た後、その中に高分子凝集剤を投入してフロックを作成する。そして、当該フロックを抄造(湿式抄紙法)してペーパー状の多孔質構造体を作成した。これを筐体3に内在させることにより本実施形態に係る排気ガス浄化装置1を得ることができる。
空隙の径(気孔径)及び空隙率(気孔率)がそれぞれ異なる担体2を3つ用意した。当該担体2は、気孔径が0.2(μm)、気孔率が48%のもの(便宜上、これを第1担体という)、気孔径が3(μm)、気孔率が73%のもの(同第2担体という)、気孔径が23(μm)、気孔率が74%のもの(同第3担体という)の3種類とした。

Claims (2)
- 多孔質構造体から成るとともに排気ガスを浄化し得る触媒を担持した担体と、
該担体を内在しつつその担体が隔壁を成して排気ガスを流通させる複数の流通路が形成されるとともに、当該流通路に排気ガスを導入する導入口、及び前記触媒で浄化された排気ガスを排出する排出口が形成された筐体と、
を具備し、前記流通路を流通する排気ガスを浄化するための排気ガス浄化装置において、
前記流通路は、前記導入口から排出口までの間で開口面積が漸次増加する増加流路と、当該導入口から排出口までの間で開口面積が漸次減少する減少流路とから成り、当該増加流路と減少流路とが互いに隣り合って配設されるとともに、前記担体は、湿式抄紙法にて調製された触媒を担持したペーパー状のものから成り、前記導入口から排出口まで直線状に延びて直線状の隔壁を成すことを特徴とする排気ガス浄化装置。 - 前記増加流路の導入口と減少流路の導入口との開口面積の比率は、1:2乃至1:9であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の排気ガス浄化装置。
