本願は、2005年7月27日付米国特許出願第11/190,514号の一部継続出願であり、米国特許出願第11/190,514号は2005年3月9日付米国特許出願第11/076,448号の一部継続出願、該米国特許出願第11/076,448号は、2003年4月14日付米国仮特許出願第60/463,075号の優先権の利益を主張する2004年3月23日付の継続中の米国特許出願の一部継続出願である。尚、これらの特許出願の全開示は本願に援用する。また本願は、2004年10月13日付米国特許出願第10/965,230号の優先権の利益を主張し、かつ該米国特許出願の全開示も本願に援用する。
体管腔の開通性を維持することは、種々の病変の治療における関心事である。本発明の特別な関心事は、体管腔の治療への経管腔(transluminal)アプローチである。より詳しくは、アテローム性動脈硬化症の経皮治療には、冠動脈系および末梢動脈系が含まれる。現在では、経皮冠動脈介入(percutaneous coronary interventions:PCI)は、しばしば、冠動脈狭窄(すなわち、動脈の狭小化または閉塞)のバルーン拡張と、その後に行う一般にステントと呼ばれている血管内プロテーゼの定置との組合せを含んでいる。

Claims (52)
- 主体管腔から分枝体管腔にかけての管口を治療するためのプロテーゼおよび定置カテーテルシステムにおいて、
半径方向に拡大可能な支持体を有し、該支持体は、分枝体管腔の少なくとも一部に定置されるように構成されており、
支持体の一端から軸線方向に延びておりかつ前記管口に対向する主体管腔の部分に達する十分な長さの複数の葉状体と、
少なくとも第一葉状体と第二葉状体とを連結する少なくとも1つの周方向リンクとを更に有し、該周方向リンクは支持体から軸線方向に間隔を隔てており、
プロテーゼは、半径方向に拡大可能な支持体が第一直径に膨張可能なバルーンの第一部分により支持され、かつ周方向リンクが第一直径より大きい第二直径に膨張できるバルーンの第二部分により支持されるようにして、バルーンカテーテル上に取付けられることを特徴とするプロテーゼおよび定置カテーテルシステム。 - 前記周方向リンクは、複数の葉状体の各々を連結することを特徴とする請求項1記載のシステム。
- 前記複数の葉状体は少なくとも3つの葉状体からなることを特徴とする請求項1記載のシステム。
- 前記バルーンカテーテルは単一の段付バルーンを有し、該段付バルーンは、遠位側セクションの膨張直径より大きい膨張直径を有する近位側セクションを備えていることを特徴とする請求項1記載のシステム。
